I spend most of my free time walking local beaches looking for fossils and other cool finds, hiking along the Ice Age Trail, or tumbling rocks.

The Wisconsin moonstone that I am tumbling are done with step 2 and moving on to step 3. I just finished running them in 120/220 grit for 4 days and 220 grit for 4 days. We will be looking at them before I go on to the next step, which will be pre polish. Thank you for watching :)

Good results at the end of this long process. Some of them are turning blue where they were. That's wonderful. And the necklaces are beautiful. It's a very striking rock to use as jewelry. 💙🤗

It was a nice hike. If I am not mistaken, birch and young oak trees up to the chapel. The chapel is built in a wonderful place and the story is so nice. The oak trees around it are much older. They could be the same age as the chapel. Thanks for sharing.❤
Yes, there are lots of beautiful birch trees and oaks in that area. Pine trees are plentiful also. The chapel was awesome perched on top of the hill with a magnificent view. It was quaint yet built very well. I appreciate you watching and the great comment. Have a fantastic day 🙂

Wisconsin really is beautiful I like the fields, the woods, the lake and the walk ways and oh boy to the stairs, lol They can be challenging for some. The Chapel was so nice to see and wow the inside is amazing looking for how old it is ! Nice to see that they preserved it for others to enjoy. Thanks for taking us along on a beautiful hike😊

That was a nice walk!! I had a chuckle when you came across the caution ⚠️ sign " beware of what?" 🤔 " bears and such, or kids with BB guns" so funny. That was a pretty walk along the lake there. This Thursday, I'm headed back to the park that I injured my leg at to do some camping. I'm excited because because it is one of the best places to view the night sky in the state. The mosquitoes can be annoying while walking. I think it's the only creature I don't get along with. 😬The view from the terrace was good and you can see the size of the area more clearly. I hope you didn't have a hard time on the way back. It was a long walk. I would love to see areas like this with geological imaging equipment. It would be even more exciting to see what is under the flora. Maybe it won't be around for us, but I am sure the next generation will be able to see different things with this kind of technology. That first trail will be a nice place to hike in the Fall when the colors start changing. Always take the walking stick

Are you planning to to do the entire Ice Age Trail?
@soul_adventurist Cheryl, I'd like to. I've done many of them. Some are long and hard to do on my own. It would be easier to meet someone on some hikes and park at the beginning and the other at the end. Then meet up and hike together and get a ride back to car. That way I wouldn't have to walk say 6 miles one way then have to turn around and walk 6 miles back. I admire those who have completed the Ice Age Trail! 😁
@@outdooradventureswithfayde6832 it is a rather lengthy trail for sure! I admire you for going as far as you do. Before our accident, I went from walking 20 minutes to walking 3 miles about 4 days a week. Lost almost 40 lbs. Now I do good to make it to the mailbox and have gained all that weight back. Life sure likes to throw those wrenches into our plans!

Howdy, John! I'm very happy that you and hopefully others enjoy the beauty of Wisconsin and our national scenic trail, the Ice Age Trail. Most of the trails and parks I've traveled to are maintained pretty decent. We have savannahs, prairies, wetlands, forests, rivers, and lakes. Bluffs, rolling hills, and amazing topography carved out by glaciers. Wisconsin is a pretty diverse place. I don't think Wisconsin is mentioned much when Americans mention beautiful places unless one is from Wisconsin. I try my best to try and highlight some of this beauty in my videos. I so enjoyed seeing how beautiful Wisconsin woodlands are. Glad to hear your knee is well enough to hike. I still can't hike but can do a lot more than i could. Like you said a return when the trees turn would be beautiful. I just went to Green Bay yesterday and some of the trees had turned already. Enjoyed watching ! Both trails are around 3 miles each and should take about 1 and 1/2 hours to complete. I did these hikes on Saturday, September 14th, 2024. It was a warm, muggy day, and the bugs were still a nuisance. The difficulty of the trails was medium, being maybe a 3 on a scale of 1-5 with 5 being most difficult. Both trails also follow sections of the Ice Age Trail in the southern section of the Kettle Moraine Forest, so the area is filled with glacial topography such as kames, eskers, kettles, and kettle lakes. Be cautious of large boulders, tree ruts, and loose rocks on the trail. Some sections of the trail on the Parnell Tower Loop are pretty narrow. Good hiking boots, hiking sticks, and bug repellent are recommended. Please remember to bring plenty of water and proper sunscreen. Thank you for watching :)
