Hunting For Wisconsin Moonstone

- In this video, I am hunting for some beautiful Wisconsin moonstone. This sodium-rich feldspar, anorthoclase, can be found exclusively in Marathon County, Wisconsin, near Wausau. It has an electric blue "moonstone " schiller that is visually stunning. I found this public pay to dig site on Facebook. Simply search for Wisconsin Moonstone. They are opened in the summer. You may call them for reservations on Sundays and Wednesdays. They are also open on some Saturdays for private digs. They charge $35 cash for the first 20 lb of material you collect and an additional $2 for each additional pound. I found all the workers there to be very friendly and extremely helpful. I had a great time and would definitely recommend Wisconsin Moonstone to anyone. Thank you for watching :)

I really enjoyed watching this one. I have been thinking about going there myself. The price is right, that is for sure ! I though for sure you had over 20 lbs. The price was right, most definitely! It was worth the drive for both the moonstone and the hiking trails. I found more than most, I think. Some of the people there didn't seem to know much about what they were doing. So, I was more than happy to offer up some advice and give out a couple of nice pieces to help. I figured I was close to 20 lbs. But, yeah, it's kinda hard to guess how much you actually have. I brought extra cash just in case. After I was finished hunting moonstone, I drove to a beautiful Ice Age Trail segment. Thanks for watching, Cherry 😊

Hey, Andrew! It is able to be polished. I have tumbled similar moonstone before. Labradorite is definitely tricky, and this is like Labradorites cousin. I will try tumbling some and using my flat lap. I was hoping you would like this video 🙂 Thanks for watching, bro! Will chat soon. Take care 🤜🤛
I've never seen raw moonstone. They sparkle when wet. I like the logic of a public excavation site. Thanks for the nice video. I think you will make great cabs.

Hiya, Jemmy! I was talking to Aaron, the fellow running the site and that's why he opened that site was purely for the love and joy of digging for rocks. Also because there aren't any other places around where people can pay to dig. They supplied coffee, donuts, chips, water, and sodas. Not to mention tools you could rent out free of charge.
