In this video, I am hiking along the Ice Age Trail on the Eagle Segment on June 2nd, 2024. It is an out and back trail that is a little over 10.5 miles or 5.25 miles each way. I parked at the end of Stoney Ridge Segment and hiked the short connector to the Eagle Segment, which added a little extra distance to this normally 10-mile hike. Remember to bring insect repellent in the summer time and check to see if sections of the trail may be closed because of wet and muddy conditions. This is a very scenic segment that takes you through wide open prairies. Through beautiful, peaceful forests. Along marshes and wetlands teaming with playful birds. I also encountered many interesting and colorful butterflies fluttering about.
    Thank you for watching :)

@lovefaith1794 Hello, Marni! There isn't a bad segment on the Ice Age Trail. They are all enjoyable and unique in their own way. It's one of Wisconsins' many treasures. Thanks for watching. Have a great day 🙂

Oh my that is quite the hike. So green and peaceful with all the birds chirping and singing. Love the boardwalk through the wetlands and any sitting water is beautiful to see. Such a peaceful way to relaxed and enjoy nature. Thanks for taking us along 😊

@upnorthadventureswithccc Hi Cherry! It was on this hike on the way back that I twisted my ankle the first time. Before injuring my leg again two weeks later. It was such a beautiful day for a nice hike. Water really makes the hike. I appreciate you watching 😊 Have a great weekend!

@@ROCKINWHEELERS I just love hearing and seeing the birds playing. There's always a cute little chipmunk or two out in the woods seen scurrying along. 🙂

Howdy Shawn. Thanks for taking us on a lovely walk on the Ice Age Trail. The overgrowth looks very healthy. Heck for some reason I feel 'almost' tired from the walk ( I'm sure there's some word for that, but I don't know it).

@johnsaucerhunter Howdy, John! It's my pleasure sharing the beauty of the Ice Age Trail. I need to do better about discussing the glacier features along the trail and identifying some of the birds I see. I'm embarrassed to say I didn't bring enough water for that hike. It was warm that day. And injuring my ankle on the way back didn't help any with feeling exhausted when I finally made it back to my car 🤪 I need to listen to that voice yelling at me to hydrate when I pack my stuff for a hike. 1 liter of water and a can of soda (also leaving coffee thermos on kitchen counter) is NOT sufficient for 10+ miles. 🥵 Thank you for watching. Have a wonderful weekend, my friend! 🙂

Boardwalks, new growth, literally a pile of mushrooms. Nice job with the hiking videos. Thank you so much. I didn't know WI had canary birds.😮 Black butterfly with white spots!

@tigereye508 Hi Tigereye! I really like the boardwalks on this trail. Yes, every once in a while, I see canaries. There is a really nice variety of birds in the prairies and wetlands in SE Wisconsin. I wish I knew more of the names of all the birds and butterflies. I'm always looking for the many various and fascinating types of mushrooms to be found out hiking. Thanks much for watching and commenting. Have a great weekend! 🙂

That is truly a naturalist’s dream location! I’m sure the guys from Badgerland Birding would enjoy counting the species of birds out there. I know I would! And who doesn’t love flowers and butterflies? ❤
I totally understand the whole gotta stop and look behind thing😂. I have been startled several times by quiet people out for a stroll or walking dogs. Kinda scary when you’re by yourself in the woods!
Thanks for sharing the beautiful WI❤

@soul_adventurist Cheryl, hello! I think it's a naturalists dream out there, too! I used to want to be a park ranger or naturalist. I love all the different types of plants, trees, flowers, and mushrooms besides my love for rocks and geology. And good to know I wasn't just being paranoid 😬 Hahaha. Have a wonderful weekend, my friend!

When you mentioned how lucky you were to be walking an hour and seeing nobody we got a good laugh wondering what extroverts think in that situation. Like are they all "this trail sucks! Nobody's around." 😅
That old cabin site looked interesting. What a place to live all the way out there in the woods. It's just so impressive how much land is conserved for this trail too. Hats off to the trail workers for sure. It would be so fun to do the whole thing. Thanks for showing us so much of it.

@TheAdventureCloset hey you two! That's hilarious what extroverts must think 😂🤣😂 I stood and chatted with the volunteer a good long while. She was very nice and quite informative about Wisconsin and the Ice Age Trail. I injured my ankle on this hike on the way back and had to limp 5 miles back to my car. Then this past father's day weekend I fell and injured my knee and same ankle again. I've been trying to heal up my leg past few weeks, taking it easy. Have a fantastic weekend Charlie n Liz!!

@outdooradventureswithfayde6832 That's true, you did run into a person out there, plus the ghost voices by the cabin site.. 🤣 Sucks about the injuries. That was a lot of miles you had to limp back. Hope you heal up fast.
