Nice different flight. I have only had Scotch Single Malt and American Single Malt peated. My favorites are Laphroaig Cairdeas 2024, Glenglassaugh Torfa, Whiskey Del Bac Dorado, and Andalusia Stryker. Now your ready to do an international nonpeated single malts. Cheers!

You described my woodford reserve double oaked experience perfectly. Strong vanilla, slight maple syrup and sweet to the nose but goes straight to the sides and back of my tongue with spice when sipping.

If you haven't tried it yet, you should grab yourself a bottle of McCarthy's. This is actually the very first American Single Malt and they are all peated (imported scottish peat). Standard expressions are 3yo and 6yo, but the 6yo Oloroso and 6yo PX are fantastic. You can sometimes find their single barrels too which can be fun. In fact, there is a 6yo fully rum cask matured single barrel releasing in the next week or two.

Good thing you didn't have Amrut Peated Cask strength in the mix. That was was cinnamon spice with a tinge of peat to it. BlackPitts I have in the bunker. The Costco by me gave up on it and was liquidating it for $37 so I bought one. I think with that one I'll drink it on its own. The Westland Solum really interest me. I'm going to save for that one. Thanks for doing this and best of luck with the Double Hernia surgery. that does not sound pleasant.

Interesting flight Peter. I think my all time favorite peated malt is Ardbeg corry. For peated American I'm partial to McCarthy's, although they can be a pain to find.

I have never tried Indian peated whisky or American peated single malt, but I definitely agree on Nikka, very nice, well-rounded brand with wide range of high quality affordable products. So far my favorite peated single malt from Islay is Port Charlotte 10:)

Interesting flight Peter. I have an unopened bottle of Blackpitts; now I'm scared to crack it! Can't remember if you did a savory & sweet flight fight? I'm a big fan of peated, Sherry matured/finished single malt. Would be interested to see a blind flight of these. Best wishes for your upcoming procedure.

It's no doubt the Isla whiskey won, it is the benchmark which all others are compared, Great diversity though... I wouldn't have the balls to buy all those! I get buyers remorse whenever I spend 80 bucks or more on something sub par, then I think I should have just bought a bottle of Ardbeg 10.

Peter, great flight. I'm not a peat head so don't try many but my favorites gave been longer aged (12 to 16 years) and a bit if red wine finishing to balance out the pear and smoke and increase the oiliness. # 1 is the Longrow Red 15 yr Pinot Noir. Then Springbank 12 year CS Batch 21. Then Lagavulin 16 and then Nikka Whisky from the Barrel.

Second bottle for me. Having it right after a Four Roses Single Barrel for comparison. The ABV is higher on the KC9YSB and it seems to be richer. Both are excellent but I’m leaning towards the KC. The KC 12yr is EXCELLENT, but not a single barrel.

I was at the Sugar Land TX Total wIne some months ago and it was there on the shelf for $50 before tax. I have it on my wish list but now I'll wait for it to go on sale. $50 for a slugging whisky seems to be expensive.

Just saw this for the first time near Charlotte in South Carolina and picked up a bottle. I did enjoy it, not too complex. Think it’s more of a $40 bottle than $55 which I paid for it. Will keep an eye out for the regular bourbon.

I'm about to buy a litre bottle in NZ which retails about $150NZD. Haven't tried it yet but looking forward to buying and trying as soon as I can pull myself away from a wonderful bottle of Aberlour Casg Annahm, thanks for the great review. The Aberlour was batch 2 so reasonably new release and well worth trying.

These aren't available around me but I picked up the rickhouse proof soft red wheat while in Wisconsin this summer. I enjoyed it.

Got a bevmo pick today. Classic bourbon profile. Getting young 🌽 no defined fruit, sweet. Decent I say skip...🙃 I should've paid up for 🌹🌹🌹🌹 PSSB 🥃. 2019 I had full proof which was my intro to anything over 101. Sweet 🔥 is all I remember 😅. Traders joes 125 proof & Jack's sbbp reminds me of it.

How would a consumer know what barrel these are from? Say for example; you really liked a barrel & wanted to go out & buy the same one; Or if you didn't like a barrel & wanted to make sure you did NOT buy the same one. JD SiB & KC SiB Select (store Picks) have this info on the bottle. Thanks!

Only had the standard BiB at $60, it's good, it ain't $60 good. Should be a $35-40 bottle.

I also prefer their standard bourbon to the wheated version. The wheated didn't have any bad notes, but it just seemed kind of bland to me. I think my blend was 100% floor 3 barrels. Like you said, maybe there is batch variation with blends from different floors.
