Love Knappogue Castle be it the 12, 14, 16 , 21 or the famous unicorn bottle the 1951 Knappogue Castle which is a 36 year single pot still and by far my favorite bottle by them. Each one is its own bottle not a progression of the whiskey like so many other brands do. It is distilled at Bushmills but barreled and Rick housed at Midleton Distillery in Cork. The distillery agreement with Bushmills ends soon and new lines of Knappogue Castle will be released with just Midleton whiskey which has been aging for years in preparation for this. I have every bottle still except for the 1951 which I have less than 2oz left. The 16 is around $100 by me and well worth it.
In UK at the moment you can get this one for £65. Funny thing is their 14yo which is 46% is at the same price! 🤔 whiskybase score 86/100 so nit bad. 😁🥂🥂🥂🙋♂️
Nice one Peter. Knappogue Castle juice was sourced from Bushmills for a while. Not sure that is still the case. Their exclusively 1st fill bourbon cask matured 46% ABV 21 year old is a delight to say the least. FYI, Pernod is pronounced [pair-no]… the “d” is silent. 😮
@@whiskeyisajourney Yes it is. I remember when (growing up abroad) Pernod and Ricard were separate companies producing similar anise based spirits (Pastis) which is very popular in France and the Middle East.
Vaguely remember seeing this in MT, have no information on it... but now in PA and its not on the shelf. Love these "off the brand" reviews.... al though, looks like its a Bushmills according to the comments. cheers!
@@whiskeyisajourney. Love the fact that there’s a bottle in the shelf where you are like… hey, ohh yeah.. look at that…. I have found one like that, was pushed back and I forgot I even bought it.
Hey Peter here in Calgary. I can find that for $129 Canadian roughly the same price you’re paying it was on sale last month quite heavily, but I didn’t pick one up because I didn’t know anything about it.
Powers, baby! A little guilty pleasure.
Not something I've ever heard much about, but thanks for the review!
It has been a while since I have done a single malt Irish so I figured I'd throw one out there.
Great review. 89.99 in Chicago
Thanks. Cheers!

It's an easy sipping bottle for sure. Cheers!
I've only tried the 14yo and enjoyed that one.
And the 16yo is hell to find here.
Nice one Peter.

Pernod is a French company correct?

I have had this on my shelf for a while I thought I remembered liking it enough to give it a review.

Interesting thoughts Peter! I have never had this Irish whiskey but it sounds nice! Gentle? Light? It's about $135 Canadian before taxes. Cheers!! 🙂
I would say gentle, light and fruity. Good, but not great.
@@whiskeyisajourney Good to know Peter!! Have a wonderful day!! 🙂

It's a good easy sweet sipping bottle. Nothing fantastic, but nice.
@@whiskeyisajourney if it goes on sale again at 35% off, I will buy
There is also a 21-year-old for $300 it’s limited to 1200 bottles
I think I saw that. That has to be part of the original barrels right?
@@whiskeyisajourney I am not sure I don’t know much history of it. It only seems to be at one store here.
heyyyyy
Hey!
I like Dingle
So do I. I wish they distributed more to AZ. We only get the standard single malt.
@@whiskeyisajourney I only have the NAS standard single malt
