Follow along on our journey as we establish our homestead. We are Double D ranch. We have a 36 acre homestead. We currently have 15 dairy goats, 30 egg laying chickens, ducks, 2 horses, a donkey and dogs and cats. We starting to grow our own food and building a self sufficient life style.

I hadn't heard of mini nubians before. What is the advantage to producing this cross breed?

They are not a pure breed. They are a cross-breed that is not recognised by the American Dairy Goat Association.
They are through the Miniature dairy goat association. Adga is not the only one out there. Their is advantages to both. We have one Nubian who is registered through adga, my minis actually produced more milk then she does. It’s all in what you prefer.

Why you knocked the goat out of the way to lick off the baby the second goat drowned in the birth canal this happens because of the shepards.
It had been evident that the baby had died a while before. It was smaller and underdeveloped.
@josephbooth1055 You clearly know nothing about kidding. It was clear that baby was under developed, floppy & no tone. Maybe learn a thing or 2 before coming at someone who clearly does this for a living.
Why don't people let the goat take care of the baby.
Only helped when needed
Learn how to deliver kids y o u should have pulled the kids a long time before they were born and you should be reaching In to see if their is anymore left.
She did great on her own and didn’t have to have any help, no need to help unless she was struggling to desend or obviously malpostioned. It causes more hurt then help to intervene when not necessary.
Why do women on you tube start cleaning the baby it's vital for the health of the mother and the baby that the goat l I cks off the baby and everytime she pulls this she weapons the whole heard and she doesn't even no it.
Thank you for doing this nice and slow and explaining what you’re doing. It is most helpful. I wish all videos were like that especially when you’re going off of plans. Not everybody has built something before.

Do mini Nubians have easier birthing and less assisted births than the Nigerians do?
I only had to assist with one this year. That’s usually how it goes. But I am not sure. I have never had Nigerians.

I wanted nubians I bought 1 n my neighbors had dwarfs so I got a set of twins from her so she wasnt lonely. I bought a nubian male n I was new to having goats I Bought 2 more nubian girls and then my other neighbor who bought hers off the same neighbor I got my twins from gave me theirs. That being said I bred my male with the dwafts I had to pull them so far the dwarfs thru me 2 sets of twin boys twin girls and 1 male still waiting on my nubians to drop
Awesome! It is recommended that you bred a female Nubian to a dwarf male. The Nubian male was probably to big for the dwarf. But I am so glad everything turned out ok :)

My first kidding for 2023 was the worst one ever. 3 doelings doa and tangled so bad that the vet on call had to call another one in. When I went in it was ribs and a leg from another kid. I knew it was beyond what I could do
