Standing Rocks and Sylvan Hill | Stevens Point and Wausau, WI | Central Wisconsin has SICK TRAILS!
Drove over from Minnesota to Wisconsin to visit an old friend and happened upon some seriously enjoyable mountain bike trails that were all new to me. Featured here are Standing Rocks and Sylvan Hill. Not featured is Ringle which also proved to be harboring some great Singletrack as well. All included jumps, drops, skills areas and excellent signage. I learned that Dynamic Trailworx
( dynamictrailworx?hl=en ) is responsible for building, at the very least, the jumplines at Standing Rocks so hats off to them.
Rock Solid are responsible for the Sylvan Hill DH lines and also did great work.

First Time at Spirit Mountain w_ Kirk Knoll and Dialed In | Duluth, MN | Mountain Bike Minnesota

First time ever out at Spirit Mountain with the homies Kirk Knoll and Dialed In. I was surprised by the sheer amount of chunder on the menu. A must ride imo, and one I can’t wait to get back to soon. It’s only Ty’s second time out on the trails and I opted to take him to the flowiest trail in the metro, Elm Creek. This trail system is chock-full of features, many of which are easily sessionable, and is seemingly growing jumps and berms overnight thanks to the dedicated trail crew. After dominating Carver Lake Park I figured Elm would serve as a good place for progression for Ty, and it turn...

Near Grand Marais? I would say the Britton Peak trailhead in Tofte, MN might be your best bet. It’s a short network of loops with cool optional features you can skip if you want. The North Shore has some of the most elevation in the state which can be tough for beginners but don’t worry about getting passed. The bike traffic won’t be too crazy and 99% of riders will be respectful and give you a heads up.

In San Pancho you can rent a bike and get a really cool guided tour of the town. I had a guide named same. San Pancho is a real small town so ask some people at the restaurants if they know a guy named Sam who does bike tours they will know who you’re talking about. Sayulita has actual Singletrack and when you rent the bikes they have a tour guide who will lead you around the trails.

It was hellaciously hot and humid, my fork wasn’t working and we just did a monster ride the day before if I recall correctly. Would definitely ride here if it wasn't for the distance, maybe if I'm in the area restocking my stash of Spotted Cow, Everclear, and fireworks. Also close to you is Whitetail Ridge in River falls, a favorite of mine. Then you have a beautiful park and a lot of trail out at Kinnickinnic which will be really good for a newer rider. You moved out east right? Where you at? Hopefully the grass is greener as far as riding options are concerned. Spirit was great, waaaay more tech than I had imagined for some reason. Definitely a place where I can improve upon that style of riding.

Thanks for the ride! I helped build several sections of Rock Lake and loved it! But a degenerative muscle disease put an end to my mountain biking in 2020 so I haven't seen that beautifully treacherous single track in a long long time. Brings back memories, although I did have to slow it down to simulate my riding speed. Which made the music even darker! LOL.

    • @ElTerrible2011

Even bigger thanks to you for taking part in the creation of trails enjoyed by thousands already and going forward far into the future. I love the deep woods feel I get hitting the CAMBA trails, and will definitely try to pay them more visits (especially en route to the U.P.). Also yeah the song is pretty dark from the jump so slowing it down would likely have that effect 😅. I just wanted something with a more acoustic, folky vibe I guess and thought it (not the lyrics) complimented the surroundings. Interestingly the lead of the project, Devin Townsend, is a pretty eccentric and talented metal head. More recently though a lot of his music has been more positive which is a breath of fresh air for the genre. I digress. Thanks again for helping bring the great outdoors, excitement and adventure to the people 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Overkill no doubt. Generally hit it on the hardtail fat bike, which is actually ideal when it gets sandy. I’ll ride either of my bikes on whatever though as long as I can get out and get a ride in.

Wish I was more capable and knowledgeable when I rode here. There had to be some local lines including all those boulders I rode past. HLMP looked like it had some sick segments and Sturgis supposedly had some good DH but my footage was trash so I scrapped it. If you make it back out definitely bring your steed with you.
