Awesome footage riding along the lakefront and through some of that North Shore chunk! I've always wanted to check these trails out, been up to Grand Marais a few times but always to hike. I meant to ride there last year but discovered the Jackpot in Tofte and ended up riding that all day! Some great building happening on the North Shore!
So happy I got to hit Jackpot before leaving, it opened up near the end of my stay up north. If you’re in Grand Marais though Pincushion is definitely worth a rip. Talus is a fun, twisty, chunderous descent. Fluvial is super flowy and still tech, you can run it wide open on both. Tilt a whirl is packed with berms. Rock and a hard place is what you would expect, and fun. If you do Canadian Shield hit it clockwise. Lastly, skip the Back 80. Unless you’re purely in it for the fitness it’s a let down compared to everything else.
Any areas you could recommend for some beginner mtn bikers in the area? Looking to visit soon and just dont wanna be in the way of others looking to go super fast. Thanks and loved the video!
Near Grand Marais? I would say the Britton Peak trailhead in Tofte, MN might be your best bet. It’s a short network of loops with cool optional features you can skip if you want. The North Shore has some of the most elevation in the state which can be tough for beginners but don’t worry about getting passed. The bike traffic won’t be too crazy and 99% of riders will be respectful and give you a heads up.
Wow, that lake is looking pretty.... Great - in those opening shots. I assume sunrise light? I also like your use of 3rd person perspectives. It helped convey how dappled that trail really was with rocks. Not to mention the added feeling of joining in on the ride as an audience member.
Thanks man. Yeah, sunrise, which is foreign to a night shifter such as myself. Glad to hear the 3rd person shots added to the experience as they definitely are a time consuming endeavor. Amazing scenery, powerful music, and mediocre riding 😅. If I rode closer to your level this video would’ve been much more entertaining. Thanks for checking it out dude, looking forward to you and your fellow Missoulian shredding some dirt soon.
Cool video.
I have only been to Pincushion once, need to ride there again.
The beginning footage down by the lake was sweet.
Ride on 🤘
Thanks. It’s a beautiful area for sure.
That intro is 🔥
Plenty of clearance even with 780 handlebars 👍🏼
Sweet trails, great video.
Thanks man. I had some good times up there.
That video was a work of art.
Damn dude, that’s like the nicest compliment I’ve gotten for a vid. Thanks and glad you enjoyed the sights and sounds. Happy trails man.
Nice video mate! Intro was sick and the terrain looks really fun
Thanks man. The terrain is a nice departure from the mostly smooth stuff we have down in the cities for sure.
Some good old fashion hand cut chunkiness, gotta love it. I’ve never made it up the north shore that far. Didn’t know the trails were that sick
Yeah man. Got to hit the Jackpot and High Climber trail while I was up there too. Super fun. Can’t wait for SplitRock Wilds next.
@@ElTerrible2011 sick! I’ve heard a lot of good things about Jackpot
