Canon Pro-1000 - Maintenance Cartridge Replacement
Great post! Love this area, my daughter owns the liquor store in Terlingua.
Obrigado pela dica
I was over there in 1998 for college at Sul Ross one off best sights of my life
how much r the cartridges
Thanks Mallory for this Itinerary! My family will visit Big Bend in early April, 2025. Looking so forward to visiting not only Big Bend, but Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe NP. Go Dawgs!!
First visit was in December and I was fascinated and in awe of this spiritual place. Will be going again and loved the video and tips.
Great video. I swear I saw a shot of Lake Lanier in that footage...
Thank you! Unfortunately I haven’t been to lake Lanier since ~2011!
This gives me vertigo. 😮
About gave me a heart attack lol!
If the maintenance cycle runs every 2.5 days whether or not you use the machine, then it doesn't matter does it? You can't just print junk to use up paper to lower average print costs.
Going out for Astro photography for the 1st time in May, at Zion & Bryce. Looking for advice and after watching multiple videos, this one was perfect. Clear & concise for a novice. Thank you!
this is the best tutorial i've ever seen so far. Congrats!
Oh, and that tilt screen on the Q3 totally destroys the clean lines of the Q2. I can't stand it
I'm a Fuji MF GFX100s and 50r shooter. However, I absolutely love my Q2!! Almost half, or about 5,000 images I shot in the Northwest were taken with the Q2 - the rest were spread between the 100s and the 50r
Hey, great stuff Mallory. I really enjoyed the video, and thanks for the Starstacks tip. Subscribed.
Thank you very much for your video. I just start using the printer and in the second day testing, it appear long vertical white scratches along some pictures. I will try checking the box.
Honestly, it was a very useful video because I love technology.
Ah yes…my camera that I definitely have 😂 great vid
I upgraded to the Q3 screen because it was annoying and different from the color science of the Q2 reporter, so I am rebuying the Q2 reporter and have sold the Q3.
Very helpful!
Thanks for the tip on great pizza!!! We would have never stopped here. Awesome video.
honestly wish there was a way to just drain the cartridge and reuse it.
This setting appears to have worked for me. Why is this even a setting? Shouldn't the printer be designed to prevent abrasion?
I wonder the same thing!!! So glad it helped!
i print 1000 of prints a month and it was happening to me and driving me crazy, i found you video and changed the settings . its early but seems to be working. thanks for the tip
I am so glad it's working for you! That’s a lot of prints per month!
How is the breathability? I see you hike with it, so will one get soaked in sweat and feel like the back is in a sauna? I see you are also a cyclist, have you tried using this backpack when riding? Where would you tools, spares? Someone said they had the Explorer and it wasn't breathable. But what's your experience? I see the X40 V2 women's model on sale in a retailer in Norway, So I'm considering it for breathability if it's good. I've been told the regular model is hot and sweaty. But I want to do mountain bike rides in mid summer heat, like 30C, riding for 4 or 5 hours and not have a soaked back.
Is sony a7s good for astrophotography?
It’s amazing for Astro photography given the low light performance! The only downfall is it’s lower megapixels then say an A7rv or even a7iv. But overall, those are incredible cameras!
Thank you for all the great tips and advice! It was especially helpful that you kept it simple enough for a beginner to get started.
Glad to hear it was helpful! Happy shooting!
Can u do some outside audio test using this mic paired to you x4? i wanna see how it looks
Great idea! I can for sure do that!
Love the tangible prints idea!!! 😁
Me too, I love the quality of the prints so much! Keeping memories is the best!
You are stunning. Thank you for the video. I'm just getting started in this.
Thanks so much for watching!!! Happy shooting!
Thanks, finally found the right video. Nicely explained to the point.
Glad it helped! Happy shooting!!!
Does this printer come with full ink or is it starter ink? (typically 50%)
They are full ink, but a lot is taken up in the lines, so it will seem like they are not full if that makes sense
Thank you so much. Does this work with taking portraits as well? Do they look good with the 50 mm crop as if you were using a prime 50? thank you so much trying to decide between 28 and 43.
Great question, and I was actually thinking about this the other day… We’ll have to do a follow up video to check on compression!
Thanks Mallory, I am looking to get this printer for exactly the same reason, to create family photo albums for everyone in the family to share. Thank you for clarifying the costs for me.
You won’t regret it!! so glad this was helpful in your journey!
Came back again to this video. Such a lifesaver again. Wahoo
So glad to hear that! It was such a random problem I had… Glad you were able to use it again!
Great photos. I'm guessing it is a single exposure. 🤔
Most of my Astro photography are composites, with several stacked images for the night sky, and typically a single blue hour foreground image for a cleaner overall composition!
To convince myself that it's a good idea to bring too many lenses, I tell myself that it will toughen me up for the next times 😅 I know it's not "smart", it makes the climbs harder, but I love some lenses too much. My main one is the big Sigma 40mm f/1.4, and in the backpack the small Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 (mostly used around ~23mm), the new Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro for mushrooms, flowers, insects but also for landscapes and animals and an old Takumar 200mm f/4 which takes up little space. Most of the photos are taken with the 40 and the 90 but I love having a few occasions to use the others a bit too. With almost 3 liters of water and a few accessories and a tripod, that's a lot! But if I know that some will not be useful in a specific place, I do not bring them 🫣
It's all about having the right tool for the job... and sometimes, you just can't leave a lens behind! 😄 thanks so much for watching!
Beware the time lines. For photographers: I guarantee you can't shoot a sunset at Santa Elena Canyon (@1:25) then drive to Soto Overlook (35+ minutes) and shoot a sunset in the same day (@2:03). Both are good places for sunsets, great if you have just the right amount of clouds. On day two, Mallory finishes the day with a hike to Balance Rock, BUT the photo is from sunrise (A5:00). B Rock is a sunrise pic, at sunset it's in the shadow of the mountain its on, and the lighting is dull/boring.
Great points!!! Thanks for watching and providing insight!!
I agree Sunrise is a much better time to be at Balanced Rock, but you need to hike there in the dark to be there at sunrist.
Servus, Danke für den Tipp. Weiter so. Ich wünsche dir alles gute im neuen Jahr 2025, viel Gesundheit, Erfolg und tolle Aufnahmen mit einmaligen Perspektiven. Gruß Jörg
Greatly appreciate your support!
Great video! Thanks for all the information 😁.
Doing Lost Mine, The Window and Balanced Rock in one day would kill me! 🤣 Great tips, though... all the places you need to see!
Yeah it’s a long day! So much to see out there it’s tough to narrow it down to just 3 days!
Thanks for the great tips. I'm thinking of taking a trip in March. 3 days is the ideal amount of time IMHO
You bet! March is such a great time to go :D the cacti should start to be in bloom late March early April… Such a spectacular site to see!
Hi Mallory. Thanks for the video. How about the Wasting ink??? Like my Canon Pro 300, I got a code 1700 that mean the Absorber ink allmost full.
Yes, the maintenance cartridge is essentially wasted ink… Printing is an expensive game!
Great video! Ugly hat..😅 Kidding-(Go Gators!) We plan a trip to BB this summer. This video was very helpful! Thank you!
Hahaha go Dawgs! Be sure to plan accordingly as the basin will be closed starting May 1!
YOU are a LIFE SAVIOUR! Thank you!!!!!!
So glad it helped! Thanks for watching :D
ps...are you shooting Raw?
Always shooting raw!
Awesome video, so informative. Thank you so much! This is a goal of mine for 2025 and you've given me a lot of confidence!
So happy to hear it!! I hope you nail it next year!
How to download a 360 video to android? Im using samsung s23 ultra
Great question… I believe their Insta360 app should work on android as well! I have found it super user-friendly on my iPhone
Thanks for the presentation/advice, Mallory. I mostly shoot timelapse-panos, and really never considered star trails, but since its New Years, and the Milky Way is not happening for a few months, you may have saved my life, LOL! : ) In my work I have done many presentations and lectures, and I want to say, you do an excellent job. Quite professional, and helpful!
I'm so glad I could help! Thank you for the kind words, they mean a lot! Practice is key… I’m sure you would agree!
@@mallorydavisphotography Good morning to you! Well, is it practice or patience!?? I did shoot my first star trail thanks to your advice, and it was great! But, I could spend forever editing airplanes out!! LOL!!! But then I realized, I have about 8 gigabites of past time lapses, and been digging out years of them, making new star trails with what I had! So fun!!! But those pesky planes, haha! Thanks again for the inspiration, I know many people love you. Me too! : )
Super gorgeous
I'm glad you liked it!
Excellent video
Thanks for watching!
