I would recommend staying away from big cities. Find a place in the county where you can park so you don't have to deal with the large crowds. Another reason to stay awary from the large crowds is once the event is over everyone is going to leave at the same time. I live in Louisville so I'm going to drive about a 100 miles so I can get 100% totality.
Also, prepare yourself to be mobile! You never know when the clouds are going to show up and spoil the fun.

Great video and I too echo Mallory's advice; PRACTICE! I too shoot Milky and the moon and shooting the sun's different. I realized today during my practice session to focus on the moon's leading edge if you don't see any sunspots. The sun moves surprising fast across your frame so check it each shot unless using a tracker. Hope everyone's under clear skies and enjoys the experience.

If you don’t have a lens with a lock, gaff tape is your friend! I always have a mini roll in my camera bag.

Question the filter is 95mm but isn’t the lens 105mm diameter? Did u use step down rings ?
Im in the area of full totality. I have a smartphone very basic camera. Its a 120 dollar phone with 1080p at 30FPS, its nothing compared
to the stuff you have. Is there any tips I can use, can I still film when the sun goes behind the moon ? Im dealing with some cheap gear.

Mallory, that was a great tutorial about the partial eclipse phases. And I loved your bloopers reel at the end! However, you literally say nothing about photography during the most critical phase of the eclipse - totality, when you should be shooting a large group of photos at various shutter speeds and ISO's in order to capture the corona. Your light meter will not be much good there, you just need to shoot a slew of photos from 1/100th of a second all the way down to a 60th of a second for a ball head, and then ramp up your ISO to keep that shutter speed still 1/60th but get out to 3200 ISO to capture the fringes of the solar corona. If you get that tracking head polar aligned, then you can go with much longer shutter speeds and not need to jack up the ISO past 400 or so.
Every time I try to do this I get the shots set up everything is ready and a stupid ufos keep getting in my way and stealing my shot How do you get them to stop doing that?
What camera setting is used for Diamond/Bailey beads picture ?
I will definitely be bracketing!! Probably 5 exposures to make sure i grab options!
Question about bracketing. My Canon will only do a maximum of seven stops, so I can’t cover the whole range of 1/1000 to 2 sec needed to capture the bright and faint details, so I’m planning on taking one set and then changing my middle exposure time and taking another. Are you doing this also and if so, what midpoints are you using?
