I did explore around this area in a car last month, Lake towada is incredible, I also drove to Kazuno city to go see the stone circles, It is Japan's version of stonehenge but not that impressive. I also had Okonomiyaki at a small shop by the train station in Kazuno.

I really liked that you included the interaction when you asked if it was hotel. Sort of gives me an idea of what to expect when I'm going to have to try to ask similar things in Japan.

A wonderful series. I watch it before every trip I go on to Japan. Because of your videos I was inspired to visit Beppu on my last trip. Next trip I am planning to visit Hakodate and Lake Towada. One day, I might try to walk across Japan just like you. I see you are still walking across countries. Are you not videotaping it? I assume it is quite difficult. As you only have videos for Slovenia and Japan, none of the other walks have video.

For future walks you might want to consider sleeping in your tent instead of relying on the kindness of other people. Just something to consider.

Nice how you complain about police then steal an apple! Maybe the crime is the editing mistake.

I’m glad you visited my country, however, hiking in the middle of July😅. You’re very brave. It’s rare that people encounter wild animals but one must be very wary of ticks. I hope you enjoyed your trip.

did you really walk the whole of japan?

I was trying out my equipment and thought if I made my emergency space blanket into a sleeping bag I could travel with my Summer bag instead of my winter bag to save weight. I went to sleep and I woke up 2 hours later with the inside of the space blanket/bag soaking wet and my sleeping bag about to become a soggy mess. I was warmer, but the Mylar has no breathability. I read about people saying "Don't put your sleeping bag inside the Mylar" and ignore them thinking they didn't know what they were talking about. I was wrong, I learnt my lesson. 😀👍

At the end of the video was that rain or a Fire station practicing a fire drill with every hose they had at full power ? 😁 Thanks for sharing 🙏

If people ever say "Oh, walking in Japan that sounds like fun!" You should show them this episode! 😁 Such an intimate way to explore Japan, by being right in the middle of nature at it's wildest. Very admirable and inspiring Alan 👏😀👍

I've been trying to get to Japan since May 2020 but had to cancel my flights because of Covid etc. I'm hoping to get there in the second half of next year and hitchhike, free camp and catch trains from North to South.

Each episode keeps getting better and better! It would be amazing to see you go back to Japan in the future and see the journey you would take. 😀👍

If someone had reported you free-camping the Police may have waited until the morning to come and say "This area is not available for camping" so they please the person saying that there is a tent in the area and also to let you sleep. I know of other people who have free camped in Japan and had Police wake the person up and say "There might be better places to camp than this" which translated from polite Japanese would be more like "No camping here, please move now". Anyway, the risk is worth the reward. Why pay for a lake side view at a Hotel when you can camp discretely and without causing an issue to anyone for free. Thanks so much for recording your trip and for sharing it with us, I watched the last episode and now I'm working my way through from the start. 😀👍
