Onsen are never in a wrong direction. Maybe just your route needed adaptation :-) Also the wooden paths in Kyushu seemed much worse... Compared to those this path was a highway! Your feet looked really kawaiso... did you have had enough bandages with you?
@@LetsTrySomethingNew Try some nylon socks, thin and lightweight underneath your heavier hiking socks to prevent chaffing. I get the feeling as well that your trip would have been more enjoyable if you didn't have to grovel and scrimp on camping spots (in ten years would you remember the extra you paid?) Well it was your trip, and there is yin but there was yang too.

I definitely would have paid more but I had just come off an 8 month trip around Europe, Asia and Australasia and I wanted to challenge myself to stick to a budget. In hindsight this challenge, although annoying at the time, did not make it less enjoyable for me.

Very true! I miss onsen sooo muuuuch!!! My feet survived luckily. The bandages did their job :)
75 to 65kg a big drop..!! Hope you are back up to full weight now
Yep I dropped about 14kg in the end - but it took me less than two months to put it back on haha!
