Heya! Just a little note before I start answering your question: Normal distribution is not part of the math topic list for WU BBE entrance exam as of 2024 (it was replaced with "Logic"). Around 9 months should be enough to catch up with all the math topics given that you are not struggling with them too much as I can tell from your comment. And it is a great idea to start early (as you already did) in your case because when you have had a long break from math it is smart to give yourself plenty of time to prepare in case a particular topic is more challenging than you initially thought In my course I have 3 cycles of webinars and the first one starts at the end of September and I would advise you to join that one to cover everything in advance and have the time left to revise everything. 15h a week for the course sounds enough because in the webinar cycles we go at a nice pace of 1 topic per week (or per two weeks if the topic has a lot of theory&tasks to cover) so you should be able to keep up with that pace without a problem:) If you want to join the course sometime soon, feel free to reach out to me through: 1) Instagram: @maria.teachie 2) Email: info@bbe-exam.com 3) Website contact form: bbe-exam.com

There are video lessons where I explain harder parts of a topic in front of a blackboard and there are also group webinars for each topic, where I highlight the most important parts of the written theory and answer students questions about theory&practice tasks (there is at least 1 1-1.5h webinar per topic, and for some "longer/harder" topics there are 2 parts (webinars) because of the amount of theory&practice tasks. So it is both, written&video explanations😊

You are very welcome! The major difference between WISO and BBE regarding making friends as an international student is the fact that BBE has around 240 students in each cohort and WISO has around 2703 students in each cohort, so community-wise, it is easier to get to know people in BBE and form "closer" bonds with them, as there will be many international students just like you (WISO also has international students but the majority of people are German-speakers and some of them already have friends from high school in Austria for example, so it might be harder to get into "their circle", as far as I have heard). But events-wise it is up to you how active you want to be! The students union and other organizations organize plenty of events for you to attend and meet your fellow colleagues (e.g., you can check out the Instagram page oeh_wu to see what I mean)

From what I have heard you have to be in Vienna for registration to VWU courses but I do not see a reason why you would not be able to come back home once you do everything before the studies start, I cannot give 100% accurate advice here, so I would recommend contacting the admission office of VWU regarding such matters

I have heard that for admission to the courses you need to show up in person (but again, I might be wrong as I am not an expert on VWU procedures) but maybe I confused what you meant by "registration" then or the "in-person" admission rule isnt there😁

@@L0mpy a good way to determine whether you would get in or not if the tech difficulty didnt happen: If you still have the rank showing in the online registration tool and it is below 240, you would not have gotten in But if there is no rank and it just says that you have been excluded, you very likely would have gotten in Because two people had the same exact tech problem and one of them sees the place as 400th smth, and the other sees the excluded sentence, so I am assuming if a person would not have gotten in anyway they dont have to check the tech requirements... You will be able to see how you performed on the exam in a few weeks time and you will have a 24 or 48 hour window for that (given that they also give this opportunity like they did in the previous years)

@@stopdripping6388 Hello, the thing about the WiSo entrance exam is that they made it multiple choice&supervised just this year (2024), before that it was an open book exam without any camera/voice/screen supervision with rather easy questions (I made a video about how it was before with Amadeus) So no one knows how exactly it is going to be this year The closest to it would be the experience of some students who took the WiSo exam back in 2019 and they all said it was very easy (the people I talked to about it are from Austria so they already had most things they needed to know for the exam covered in their school curriculum), and given that the competition is only 2 people per spot (and not 14 people per spot like for WU BBE) preparing using WU's recommendations&economics books they stated should be enough to perform well on it

Soooo, yes and no, from what I have heard about the maths part it can somehow be comparable to it, and more or less of the same difficulty for some of the topics. For economics, they have included questions about topics that are not mentioned in the book but I guess they assume they are common sense (e.g., statements about the Federal Reserve that are not mentioned in the book), those types of questions are out of the scope of the book's content should not appear and you can expect slightly harder question there (e.g., some will require calculations or recalling details from the book). It sounds like English is more or less the same in terms of difficulty based on 2024 applicants' feedback. And yes, you can "jump" around parts&questions on the entrance exam

Actually yesterday and today I have been posting stories about how to prepare for the maths part by yourself (as in if you are not taking part in my preparation course), so you can check them out on my Instagram (@maria.teachie). And yes, ofc it is a good idea to study all the topics listed on WU's website because they will be asked during the entrance exam, you can also pick your favourite topics and start with those on the exam day, if you see that one topic is just making your life miserable and you can spend the time suffering with it to learn 2 more topics, do that, since it is (as a rule of thumb) one question per topic, skipping one topic and guessing it, while excelling at others is a good point maximization strategy at this point when not much time is left until the entrance exam The maths matura papers you see on WU's website are from past high school leaving math exams in Austria, and they are easier to solve compared to the entrance exam tasks

It is a good basis to start with because the exam will be based on the theory you would need to learn for the matura (apart from some topics that arent mentioned on WU's website), but keep in mind that the exam tasks will be longer&harder

You will have to calculate quite a lot, on WU's website there is a guide about the examination platform and there you can see that an online calculator will be provided during the exam The exercises you saw are NOT the actual entrance exam tasks, they are matura tasks (high school leaving exam in Austria) and the exam's tasks are based on the theory you would need to know for those, yes, but most of them will be longer&harder

And the formula sheet will be visible during the mock exam WU provides before the actual one (it is rather short tho, so not going to be too helpful)

Heya, it depends on the semester and how many courses you pick (you can deviate from the recommended schedule and take fewer/more courses). For example, in the first semester, we had lectures 3-4 days a week, and 2-5 hours per day or so, in my fifth semester I did a funny thing and had lectures from 9am till 7/8pm on Mondays and Tuesdays and one lecture on Wednesday, but the second half of the week was free. But even though you do not have too many lectures, it is an illusion of free time because you will have to do quite a considerable amount of self-studying. So, you definitely can manage to have interests and a social life/part-time job while studying, but you will need to learn how to manage your time well. And tbh I never counted the hours I spent on that, I just studied until what had to be done was done (and from the 2nd semester on I prioritized work).

I have answered a similar question in the comments here before and here is how it was for me: Hello, as soon as you arrive to Austria you should write to the authorities that you want to book an appointment to collect the residence permit They will send you an email with the required documents so do not worry about, you will get the official list of documemts needed from them But as far as I remember you need 1) your passport with your visa D and a copy of that page 2) Meldezettel (registry of your main residence address here in Vienna, for this you can either get an appointment at the respective authorities or do it via email, if it is still possible, which might be faster than getting an appointment), so this document might take time and you are give the blank that you need to fill out to get it by the dorm's manager or my your landlord. Since this might take time, do not make your residence collection appointment way too soon (like not the day after you have arrived ahaha) 3) you will need to pay around 75 euro fee (I am pretty sure it is possible to pay it with a bank card but bring like a 100 euro banknote just in case not to worry about that) 4) you will need a confirmation of health insurance 5) you will need to present the bank statememt proving that you have sufficient funds (the document should not be older than 3 days) 6) also print out the email appointment confirmation from them That is it I think, if anything has changed/been updated, they will let you know!

Heya, yes, hence the bold letters saying THINGS HAVE CHANGED IN 2024😂😅 But since the competition last year was less than 2 people per spot for WiSO (4500 applicants for 2703 spots) I am assuming the exam should not be too difficult and just showing up and giving it your best (ofc with some preparation) should be enough to get accepted Also, when I talked with one of my master's colleagues who took the WiSo entrance exam back in 2019 when it was offline and somewhat resembled the new 2024 "standard" he told me that it was easy peasy lemom squeezy So ofc you should prepare for it but do not overstress it, best of luck with it!😊

@@krayniy4931 As far as I know, you only need it during the admission period (in case of acceptance) to then get redirected to preparatory language courses to get it to a C1 level.
