I love that Q had to _ask Picard's permission_ to remove Guinan from the ship. He never had compunction nor hesitation to transform or remove any of Picard's crew, but for some reason, he needed to get Picard to tell him he could do it. And Guinan raised her own hands in a gesture that she clearly felt would at least give her some measure of defense. She's not just an imp; she's something the Q can't directly and trivially affect.

This one scene kept me from turning off the first episode of ST:TNG. I remember because I thought the story so far was boring and I didn't care for any of the "new" crew. Back in those days, we had to actually turn the channel manually and I was just about watch something else when this scene happened. I thought if they are going to pay homage to the original show by having Dr McCoy show up then its worth a second chance. 🖖😉
