- Per your request here's is my iPad 8th generation vs iPad Pro 10.5" comparison. These tablets are close in price and because of this I believe they are on an equal playing field for a spec/feature showdown. So in this video, I go over all of the notable hardware differences between these two devices in order to help you decide which is the better value!
Pro-motion laminated display, quad speakers and 4GB RAM is more important than raw cpu performance

@@_Digitalguy Ipad air 3 will get that too. Ipad air 3 has the same display as pro 10.5 just software limited to 60hz. There's jailbreaks to run it at 120hz.

@@lorisytb1103 yep I'm now starting to see a light fade around the same area. It's mostly visible when the whole screen is white. Once the screen is active or coloured, it isnt noticeable. I just ignore it.
Have had a 10.5" pro for 3 years. Of all the tech I've ever bought, this one was so far ahead of it's time, that it still, 3 years later, feels superior to a lot of brand new devices. Highly recommend, especially over the 8th gen iPad.

I can’t agree more. My iPad Pro 10.5” was such a great purchase it’s incredible. It packs almost the same features all of the flagship devices 3 years later. It really was ahead of its time.
Basically same for me, I got the air 3 when I found out the air 4 was coming because of the price increase I am also so happy as I had a ipad 5th gen for awhile and the performance was bad so then I got this air and I mainly use it for school and gaming

Fantastic job! I chose the 10.5 vs the 8th gen and I knew I made the right decision. If, like most people, you are using a tablet to consume media / be your best friend while traveling or visiting Starbucks, there really isn't even a question about 10.5's superiority.
The 10.5 pro was my dream iPad up til now regardless of it being outdated. I was saving for that 2 years ago but I didn’t save that much and I really need an iPad for school so I got the 6th gen. Until today, I still dream of having one 😢
UPDATE: I just sold my iPad 6th Gen and now I'm just waiting for my M1 iPad Pro to arrive! 🥳

Was looking for my first iPad last year and saw one of your videos which you recommended a refurbished iPad Pro 10.5. Instead, I bought an iPad Air 2019 on sale, and before I opened the box I realized it was not what I wanted so I gave it to my sister. Immediately after, I bought a refurbished iPad Pro 10.5 Cellular 256GB and never looked back. The iPad Pro 10.5 has plenty of power and the ProMotion display makes a difference. Thanks for your recommendation.

Why do you think your days are coming to an end? I'm in doubt whether to get an iPad 9 or this one to study, take notes, take PDFs, Word... I'm in doubt because the PRO has slightly thinner edges and the iPad itself is also thinner. But I wanted it to at least work throughout my entire degree (4 years)
I decided to get the Ipad Pro 10.5 in august 2022 over the Ipad 9th generation at first because of the price, and I’m running IpadOS 15.7” still runs great, looks fantastic after 5 years, the weight, the screen size and the thickness are great.
I find this both iPad for the same price iPad Pro 10.5 and iPad 9th generation. Which one I should buy?

Great video Noah. Even though my current iPhone is an 11 Pro Max and I plan on upgrading again this year, my current iPad is the same 10.5 iPad Pro and I have no plans on getting a new one unless Apple comes out with something ground breaking in the next few weeks. No iPads that have been released since then have made me want to upgrade. It has plenty of power for me to do what I need on a daily basis. I run my own businesses in real estate and business tech consulting so all of my apps and software run great with no issues. I have the Apple keyboard so it comes in clutch when I need to take care of things that require a keyboard and I don’t have my Macbook Pro on me. Regarding gaming, I play COD and PUBG daily to wind down with no issues at all. It amazes me that there are so many people talking about the 8th gen being better. Why, because of the processor? That’s ridiculous. For the true average user, the 10.5 Pro is not only enough but more than what they need. It just goes to show that specs don’t tell the entire story. If you can find one for a good price in 2020 I say go for the 10.5 Pro 👍🏽 again, awesome video!
I have both the 10.5” iPad Pro and a 2020 11” iPad Pro. I still prefer grabbing my 10.5 most of the time. I have owned it since release and it has been excellent.

@@hasnatkabir9862 i love it.it's a powerhouse. Heavy apps like garageband, lightroom run smoothly. Haven't used much procreate but didn't face any issues while doodling etc. That being said, there is difference between pencil 1 and 2 in case you were comparing this with the new gen ipads.

I really wanted an iPad Pro 10.5” for school but had to settle for the iPad Air 2 because it was the only one I could afford
I have been using air 2 for nearly 5 years and it’s still running well and super lightweight. Many people say air 2 is a great choice in the long run if you don’t require complex task. It’s a wonderful ipad. I’m only looking for a new one because air 2 isn’t compatible with pen as I want to write note for class.
Still have a 512gb iPad Pro 10.5” and I can’t believe this model is almost 4 years old! It definitely doesn’t feel slow at all. With the A10x + 4gb of RAM I feel it’ll still be good for another 2 years.

I have my iPad Pro 10.5 now for nearly two and a half years and I still love it. I hope it will keep me happy for a few more years. My husband is still using the first gen 12.9 iPad Pro and feels no need to get a new one too

iPad 10.5 is the best tablet from Apple, and they will never come up with any better one because of the transition to a new design. 120 Hz screen, 4 speakers, 4:3 aspect ratio, cheap accessories. But what makes it the best Apple tablet is the mini Jack. In the multimedia device of this class it is a must have feature. Freedom of controls: you can use gestures or home button without limitations . Outdated processor? It is enough for smooth operation of the system in 120 Hz, it also pulls games in 120 fps without trotling (Hired Ops, Standoff 2, WOT Blitz). Im so happy I have it and I think Im going to hold on to it for at least 8 more years.
My iPad 2 still working. The only problem is the battery that doesn't last that long after being used so many years. Soon it will die and that's why I upgrade to new iPad Pro hope the same for many years to come.

All depends budgets and functions.
I suggest choose between all new 2020 iPad, iPad Air, and powerful upcoming 2020 iPad Pro (if you can wait).
For school, reading, writing (pen gen 1st) and regular functions go with iPad which is very affordable right now.
For more smoother gaming experience, editing and more go with iPad Air.
For professional editing and computer like experience go with iPad Pro.

Just ordered the iPad 8 32GB cellular. Its for work which means lots of notes, signing papers, mail and on top of that media consumption and also responding to comments.
Rocking right now the iPad 9,7 non smart connector and it still works well so with the Smart Keyboard the 8 will satisfy my needs more than enough. Currently I use 15GB on the 9,7 so 32 can be fine , but Sure if you like to edit more you would need more space, as well for storing fotos.... Anyways thanks for the comparison, keep up the good work

till this day im using 10.5 pro version i bought it in 2019, this device was way ahead of its time 100%,its still fast das pretty much everything that you want ipad to do , i think i will have this amazing device one more year and upgrade it ,nothing is wrong with it whatsoever by the way still gets the updates and all of that❤

@@SO01j20 if you're talking about the front facing camera then yes, other than that they look pretty similar. Maybe in low light conditions the iphone 7 is a bit better but that's it. On the other hand, video recording did get considerably better over the 6s.

I ended up getting the iPad Air 3. Good compromise for a year or two longer support unless you can score an iPad Pro 10.5 without the white spot screen issues. Out of 5 renewed iPad Air units I bought in Amazon and Walmart only two were clear of screen issues.

How about now?? I am planning on buying the iPad pro 10.5 for about $300 (2nd hand) but I'm a bit skeptical.. I also saw the Samsung Tab S6 lite which I'm also considering ( this is brand new)

Bought used 10.5 pro for 350 eur. Technically it gives you a lot for price- 120 hz display without any air gaps and with True Tone, 4 speakers, great camera and so on. However after purchase I kinda found out it has changed display panel, it’s only 60hz and without that True Tone stuff, and my device broke completely after only one weak (something to do with memory chip apparently). It’s sad that they don’t sell older iPads as refurbished or cheaper.

Once you have owned a Pro, you would never want to go back to a standard iPad. I would not even consider the new 2020 iPad Air over my 2017 10.5 Pro. The 10.5 Pro is still a beast performance wise

10.5 ipad is the best compared to standard ipad and it runs pretty good on ios 14 with a better battery life. Still my daily driver and don't need a laptop.

@@kurartem I haven't updated to 14.1 still in 14. On my ipad ios 14 works very fine, no any noticeable lag but the battery life slightly better.

I’ve used both and I have to say the older is better though the 8th gen does feel slightly faster and also the battery life tends to last longer by an hour or so. Though I would definitely still go for the pro as it feels much nicer with it’s 120hz screen.

I got a 10.5 with 512 GB if storag, new, out of the box, few months ago for a good price.
It was not cheap and the 10.5 pro is slower than the newer iPads but never having to worry about having enough storage is worth any speed trade off.
I’ve had literally every size/form factor or the iPad Pro. The 10.5 Pro is still my favorite to this day. The 11” is my current device because of the updated specs, but man that 10.5 was just the perfect build. Felt so good to hold. The fact that I really loved smart covers and that was the last pro to use them is definitely a factor in that.
Use a iPad Air 5th gen.

The iPad Pro is a good iPad even in 2021 but the white spot issue above the home button is worrisome.

The 10.5 is still an amazing device with Pro Motion and the form factor and the amazing double sided speakers, plus it has an audio jack, and the screen is just right size. Apple’s ideal, peak home button iPad device if they had just continued upgraded the processor. The A10X now does feel slow sometimes though using the current iOS. It weirdly just slows dramatically down at times for unknown reasons, which is irritating as the processor is 5 years old now, using sharing or file manager or starting apps. Other times it runs very fast, so not sure what the reason is. It has 4Gb of RAM which should be plenty to run several apps at the same time.
Also, if you buy one, make sure it doesn’t have a screen defect, this model was famous for the screen getting white light syndrome where the keyboard is on the screen. So check for that by putting the screen brightness up to max level on a fully white background. Then it’s easy to spot.

Something to add the iPad Pro don’t support spacial awareness when the iPad 8th generation does

@@benzemamumba forgot to clarify, all of them were replaced by apple even after warranty. The third one is the current one that I have, and It developed a white spot after 6 months. I barely use the pencil and I don't press on the screen hard.

The 10.5 hardware wise is better, but also more expensive than the 8th gen and will get less updates in the future than your new 8gen so enjoy whatever you have
I mean the pro is more expensive and the 8th will get longer support compared to the 10.5 pro. Getting the 8th or the pro can't be wrong. However, I'm not really sure about the air
Mercury_F12 don’t be! Your iPad is very well built and like others have mentioned, the 8th gen will be supported longer! These are just nitty gritty details like if you’ve been content prior to this video then you’re not missing anything
