I had a 10th gen iPad ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . Felt it getting pretty slow at times even after doing a reset. So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price that’s about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises.
I like how he remembers that many people don't have a lot of money to buy the more expensive iPad, unlike a lot of review youtubers that looked down upon the budget iPad and hailed the iPad Pro and new Air.
Edit: For me personally, I would like the iPad air 4 as I feel like treating myself to something expensive once in a while (the last time I did that was in 2016 with my iPad mini) but it's a nice thought and 2nd choice especially if I didn't have enough budget. But everyone is different and a person's view changes from time to time depending of the mood and situation. So I have no reason to argue with someone about this.

@@Erdadler I have no intention on fighting with you in this, as I respect your thoughts on this, because this is from my experience of opening a lot of iPad 8th get review that they always conclude to saying either buying the iPad Air or Pro. I can understand that there are other youtubers that may have a more understanding outlook on this topic and I have personally have not look at their videos yet. But accusing me of lying isn't they way to make your opinion know as you are painting my comment as a negative from MY experience and I even said "a lot of", not "all of". The only few that I have seen that paints the 8th get as a good iPad for students are Brad Colbow and Janice Studies. Please understand that my comment was to express my opinion as it is within my rights in the comment sections. Thank you.
Erdadler tbh i’ve also seen many people look down upon the classic ipad. the reviews aren’t even hard to find, just watch an ipad pro review or 2 and you’ll see how they praise the laminated screen and the apple pancil 2 while saying that the normal ipad is not even worth it just as a tablet.

I finished my university using iPad 4 (from 2012). It had everything I needed for that time. That old iPad is still with me, it obviously got slower with time and doesn’t support some apps anymore, so I’m finally upgrading to iPad 2020, hope it will serve me for just as long as that old model :) Edit: I bought it! Apple pencil is something else, I’m having so much fun lettering and painting!

Little ASMR at the start. And sweet editing at the start too. I ordered the iPad 8th gen and just plan to use it for note-taking. It’s almost here. I’m excited and it’s perfect for me since I can’t see spending more just for taking notes.

Your father was my mentor in college and, next to my own parents, probably had the biggest influence on me (particularly in my taste in film and literature...and politics). In fact, my then girlfriend and I used to babysit your three oldest siblings (who were a handful). Anyhoo, after MANY years I upgraded yesterday to an 8th generation iPad and figured there would probably be a great tutorial on RUclips. I was right and what a delight to see it was made by the son of my dear old friend. And yes, you and your father's alma mater is beautiful.

Been using laptops for years and I was so sick of carrying something so bulky around. Got my first iPad about a ago and this is the exact one I got, I’m so glad I found this video its so informative
I was honestly going to wait for the new Ipad Air to come out but I went to Best Buy the other day to look at iPad Pro and the iPad 8th generation is so good at such a low price. I highly recommend it.

I got the Ipad 8 in September 2020, and this has been the perfect upgrade to the windows laptop I had before (Ryzen 5, 8GB ram, Windows 10).
It works really well in terms of MS office (cursor control now available), gaming, video editing (premiere rush), Media consumption, writing and taking notes, composing, and organizing emails etc.
I got an otg connector (lightning to USB A female) so it seamlessly works with my optimal mouse and keyboard, external usb drives and external controllers as well.
I'm in awe of the capability of this product when compared to the pricing point it comes at, will hopefully be using this for years to come!

I have concepts on my ipad 8th gen and i highly recommend it for a free note taking app. It is used for drawing but you can change to lined dotted or squared and also have projects which could replace books and sections for more organisation. It has a pro version but it is so good with the free version. Just an idea for some people
I have used the iPad gen 7 for college and for my personal business, even though I have a 2020 pro 11 inch, and personally, my 10.2 7th gen does everything that the 11 pro does. Aside from storage, it’s practically the same thing at a way cheaper price. I make up the storage thru a dongle and sd card. All in all, it’s a great device. I use the brydge keyboard which is to spec the same keyboard on a MacBook Pro. I highly recommend the 7th and 8th gen.

32GB in 2020 is honestly unacceptable. FFS even $15 flash drives have 32GB of storage.
On budget Android tablets its acceptable because first things like the fire tablet are dirt cheap ($100) and second because you can expand storage with microSD.
But come on. There is absolutely no excuse for 32GB. Which makes the base version of this tablet nearly unusable even for a basic user unless you micromanage and waste copious amounts of time deleting and rearranging files and apps.
It’s a $330 Apple product. Beggars can’t be choosers. They have the option to upgrade storage if you want it.

Yes it's cheap but the storage is so limited that it is a failure as a product because many people will end up with a terrible user experience if they buy it (and people that aren't nerds don't necessarily realize just how little storage is even available to use. It's a lot less than 32GB when you factor in the OS and basics)
Apple should have either simply only sold the 429$+ versions or included more storage in the base $329 tablet. In its curent form,it is basically a heap of rubbish that's only there to for marketing to brag that "iPad starts at $329"

Guys the actually sell external memory for these and they are not expensive. I bought a leef at Best Buy about 3 years ago for $35 and I can use it on my iPhone & iPad. If you search on eBay they also have a cheaper options right now that are not name brand but work the same.

Every iPads since 2018 supports the Logitech crayon protocol, meaning you can use a cheap $20-40 knock off stylus with the accuracy and sometimes tilt of Apple Pencil but no pressure sensitivity.
In my opinion, the iPad pencil is too expensive for anything other than drawing and the third party options available nowadays are good enough at a great price.

Hey, Ian using it vie school. I am visiting a local "high school". There is a Programm called: goodnotes. It cost about 8€ in the app store. Writing is no problem, all is working perfectly! The speed of the IPad ist just amazing! If you are thinking about it, buy it!

You can get a Anti Blue ray matte screen protector which is not only non-reflective but also has a pretty beautiful luxurious purple colour under certain angle and light conditions. It has special anti blue ray layers that are used on optics and eyewear that filter out most of the blue spectrum rays without effecting the colour or picture quality.

If you’re in college currently taking classes. Your school may let you rent a device for the semester. I’m at a community college taking nursing classes and the college rents out devices to students such as laptops and iPads to students who are currently enrolled in classes free of charge. They even included the Apple pencil with my iPad rental device. So check with your college and see what they offer!!

I was thinking about iPad for 6 months, comparing it with Galaxy Tab A series and different iPads. After much thoughts, I finally got one. And my advice for people like me is: don't think too much, go for it. It's amazing like Apple says on the presentation.
All i’m going to use this for is notes, youtube and netflix. hopefully i just didn’t drop 400 for a pencil and ipad just to not be able to use it
I had an iPad Pro 10.5 up until a few weeks ago when I traded it in to Apple for $325, used the trade towards and Mac Mini M1.
I love the Mac Mini and have other tablets and devices, but missed having an iPad, especially since I’m deep in The ecosystem, with many great apps paid for.
Basically I gave money right back to Apple, but I already have the original Apple Pencil, and wanted to try to see if I can use this iPad with the Mac Mini using Sidecar. I’ll be leaving the USA for 5-6 months, but don’t want to lug my Dell giant monitor.

The Apple Pencil (1st Gen) comes with an adapter to which you can charge your pencil as you would charge your iPhone and tablet. It doesn’t have to be plugged into your iPad.
I've using ipad since ipad 4 than the first ipad mini and for the last years the ipad mini 4, it's a very solid entertainment device and a bit more, it's just holds on through the years unlike android tablets
samsung tablets in the past couple years have gotten very good. very competitive to apple's iPads.

As a 7th grader going into 8th (in person not this year) later in the year I want to get this I pad with the 128 gb and cellular since i play a lot of games and download a lot of music for 550$ (40$ less than the base iPad Air which is 880$ all decked out) this is a great deal since I want to use it as my notebook for the entire year so this video really helped me decide which one to buy :)

For those who have the first gen pen, it comes with a lightning adapter which you can use to charge separately from the iPad :) lots of informational videos out there on how to use it but it makes the danger of sticking it in the iPad nonexistent.

Does the absence of laminated display increase the noise when note taking ? It can be annoying in a quiet class to make so much noise with a pen touching a glass screen

Ipads can be connected to android wireless earphones so you can opt for that if you have a limited budget

Finally something that can replace a laptop for a lot of students. Such as nursing, heck medical school students in general except for biomedical engineers, social sciences student, business students, history students, almost every student. Had to put almost in case the engineer, Computer science, and graphic design students flood me with replies about them still needing a laptop.
