- Multiple Doom II battles between 30 Chaingunners (aka Commandos) and 10 Arch-viles, each with different variations such as numbers and difficulty level. Same monster infighting and Nightmare respawns is disabled. Arch-vile Resurrection ability is disabled.

Doom Retro Battles involves several Doom and Doom 2 battles, a fight club or battle simulator of sorts, between various units and unit compositions, each with different variations such as weapons, numbers, difficulty levels like Ultra-Violence and Nightmare, etc.

No matter how many times I see 90% of 1000 chainguners be anihilated by themselves within the first 5 seconds, it's insane 😂👌
The arena for machine gunners is not correct. For them, layers must be created, each of which is higher than the previous one. like the Colosseum in Rome. Machine gunners are located on these layers; the further from the center of the map, the higher the layer is, so that the machine gunners do not kill each other.

The arch-vile death scream always puts a smile on my face.
I'm surprised Nightmare difficulty makes so much difference. Would have thought chaingunners at long range wouldn't be very accurate.
Most of the chaingunners die because they walked in front and got shot in the back. In Nightmare, they don't walk around so much, so they keep their lines.
They ARE inaccurate in fact, but the fact that there are many (since they shoot immediately and do not kill each other by walking in front of each other), makes the number of bullets a large number. So even if they miss most of the hits, the bullets that hit are still a big number. This is why they are effective in Nightmare mode in large number at long range.

I wonder what they were smoking at id software when they decided to make Chaingunners have more HP than imps and more DPS than most of the actual Demons in the game
At least they can kill each other and cause massive infighting.
The Chaingunners chaingun is slightly weaker than players. In addition, just like the Imp, you just need ONE shotgun shot to take'em out (two with some bad RNG)
@@RevenantFTS97 Chaingunners should have 50 HP and slightly weaker chainguns. They're just overtuned
Would it be possible to arrange the rows of hit scanners so they are not single-file? I assume they will still shoot each other all the time, but it might reduce some of the friendly fire without much effort on your part.

The way the chain gunners get knocked back by the fire as they turn into a pile of guts is soo satisfying
Archies are in HUGE ADVANTAGE (both in UV and NM!)for the simple matter that they have 10 times more health than chaingunners. In addition, Flame bois can insta-kill them. Another observation worth to mention is the fact in NM! the chaingunners didn't kill themselves. Therefore, their attack was more efficient given that they could cause more damage and occasionally trigger Archie's pain state, which allow them to resist a bit longer.
Also no pain chance

the second i saw an Archi fall on UV i knew from then on the Viles were fucked a lot of the time
Pain chance is so low on the archvile that not even the turret-style Nightmare chaingunner can interrupt their his instant fireball animation

Chain gunner, Shotgun sarges and zombie man, their rear rows are always set friendly fire, in nightmare, they're "melting down" teammates in front of them.
Maybe, consider build stairs, give gun zombies can fire from different level/heights and decrease friendly fire.

At least do a spaced out version - even aside from friendly fire, arch vile zaps have a blast radius. It would be a nice change of pace.

For something like that cant you at least build a sort of stadium like arena so chaingunners and other hitscanners can be in rows above and behind so they dont kill each other???

You need to change the arena, like a colliseum or something with steps to see the real power of gun weapons.
