The rock beats the scissors, but to the paper the scissors are scarier. Dps can work for Arachnotrons here, but it will do nothing when a player hides behind a wall and goes into a hallway on the other side. The Baron will enter that hallway and come after you, while the Arachnotron paces back and forth waiting for you to come back and kill it.
Gotta wonder how these would turn out in different formations too considering how often the Barons scratch eachother's asses instead of hitting the spiders.
It's interesting to me that in the first battle on UV the barons suffer a terrible defeat but on Nightmare they win fairly easily. One of the reasons why arachnotrons fare so well is that they keep shooting until their target drops, while barons on UV tend to spend a lot of their time moving toward the enemy, thus not only blocking each other, but also simply not doing any damage, and what is more, they are quite slow. Arachnatron is a great foil to baron.
Legit thought barons would fair better in that first round, only because arachs blocking each other, but then barons are also not very aggressive either
Why not both! 😃 A huge battle here would have been fun to watch (unlike with hitscanners) but I am always interested to see what a 1 on 1 looks like for evenly matched monsters - or 2 or 3 on 1 for mismatched ones, depending on what is more appropriate.
Interesting rock, paper, scissors situation with Barons, Mancubi and Arachnotrons. Barons beat Mancubi and Mancubi beat Arachnotrons and Arachnotrons beat Barons. But the Barons vs Arachnotrons fight was closer than the other two, so I would still give the overall edge to the Barons.
Interesting fight, but we know arachnotrons would stomp cacodemons, they did well against barons that have more health, damage and low pain chance than cacodemons, imagine against a weak monster, would be a massacre.
the interesting part is that when barons do get close enough they can shred a target in a few seconds, and arachnotrons resistance is low enough to enter constant pain and die, but if a second arachnotron helps then all of this doesn't matter anymore
normal mode, block each other, free for all...nightmare mode, kill that guy, then that guy, then that guy...ultra violence, run in and don't fire til you're point blank range...weird
1:09 think of how much easier the arachnotrons could have won if half of them didn’t get into each other’s way. I wished you ended it with 2 armies than a one on one.
Go Arachnotrons! I feel bad that they mostly attack when antagonized anyway like they’re saying back off they just want to be left alone not very aggressive like the Spidermastermind
Last 1:1 was soooooooo close to being a draw. If a Spider Brain sees his shots are being blocked, he just stupidly keeps shooting and not hitting anything. If they had the smarts to either pick a new target or just start moving even randomly for a better shot, they could do way more damage, and would've wiped the floors with the Goat Men.
I can never shake the feeling that arachnotrons uniquely do not possess the ability to see if there's something in the way. It seems they constantly shoot at another arachnotron without repositioning.
I imagine since they are demons, their hatred for their target supersedes any logic or rationale. They are going to shoot at it until it is dead, even if they have to melt their way through one of their peers.
As decino here on RUclips explained, that's a quirk of the way DOOM's programmed. They can see their enemy (either the player or another demon that aggroed it) through other monsters. It's level geometry that blocks line of sight for enemies.
Man, I just love watching Barons get owned. I've always believed they are over rated in terms of difficulty and never understood how they are considered the most dangerous normal enemy. Their HP is high, but there's other enemies with far more powerful attacks.
Baron of Hell is a tough guy and is only strong when fighting other monsters. However, his intelligence is dumb, and when he fights the player, he only walks slowly in an attempt to tear them apart in melee. Perhaps he thinks his walking speed is too slow and boring, so sometimes he can't stand it and throws a green fireball. Far more dangerous enemies than him are Mancubi, Arachnotron, Archvile, Mastermind, Cyberdemon, and Chaingunners. They don't throw weird things out of the palm like an imp or Baron Of Hell, except for Archvile. Instead, they are armed with powerful dedicated firearms, ready to fire at any moment.
Oh, I forgot to mention one thing. If a player encounters a group of Baron of Hell's in a completely enclosed space without a good gun, that's when it's Baron of Hell's showtime. When that happens, the player is going to have a very hellish time.
In the right circumstances, they can be extremely deadly. Many significant mappers in the DOOM community have exercised their abilities quite well. Their high health, very low pain chance, and dangerous melee make them effective brawlers in cramped spaces.
Surprising. Barons always felt a lot more dangerous than spiders.
Constant fire rate of the spiders makes them dangerous
Now that's a point of view I haven't seen before :p
@@Seb-Storm
Yeah, they may not have as much health, but a higher dps makes up for it.
then you’re a bot player

This needs to be in the Olympics.
In these sorts of battles, could you include a massive 500 vs 500-esque battle?
honestly i love arachnotrons so much but i was expecting baros to do better, this came to me into a nice surprise :D
Gotta wonder how these would turn out in different formations too considering how often the Barons scratch eachother's asses instead of hitting the spiders.
No BS. No click bait.
You see demon vs. demon. You get exactly that. Love it.
wow good fight who would have guessed that the arachnotrons are tough enough to take barons of hell
Arachnotron can deal more damage than mastermind from a sufficiently long distance, meaning he has the second highest DPS after cyberdemon.
As a player, I find arachnotrons harder than barons. Maybe not 1 on 1 but definitely in groups
@@MonstrousOgre mostly because Arachnotrons will fire until you die or break line of sight.

@@asfsdasdarachs lost bc they are blocking themselves, anyway , impressive they can beat the 3rd strongest demon of doom
WOW very evenly fought, I expected barons to interrupt much more frequently spiders.
Wow, this was much closer than I thought it would go.
Tough as the Barons are, they aren't much of a match against a steady barrage of plasma. Though to give them credit, their fast attacks do the trick.
If the Arachnotron had a plasma gun with the same rate of fire as DOOM Guy's plasma gun, the Barons of Hell would have had their asses handed to them!
It seems like they lose anyway.
в таком случае они бы всем надрали задницы)
Legit thought barons would fair better in that first round, only because arachs blocking each other, but then barons are also not very aggressive either
They arachnotrons kept shifting around, which basically prevented the Barons from using their melee attacks, even up close
This is a match up I would have liked to see scaled up not down.
I agree
Why not both! 😃

Chaingunners vs Barons of Hell next please?
That last Baron of Hell got absurdly lucky with the Arachnotrons pain chance.
Electronic Spiders vs. Muscular Pinkies
It'd be fairer if they started nose to nose. This was tipped toward the spiders because the barons cant use the melee attack for half the battle.
Interesting rock, paper, scissors situation with Barons, Mancubi and Arachnotrons.

Interesting fight, but we know arachnotrons would stomp cacodemons, they did well against barons that have more health, damage and low pain chance than cacodemons, imagine against a weak monster, would be a massacre.
There should be a close-range rematch
Barons have more HPs, so in Nightmare, where they all keep their distances, they prevail. In UV they try to reach melee distance and get crushed...
the interesting part is that when barons do get close enough they can shred a target in a few seconds, and arachnotrons resistance is low enough to enter constant pain and die, but if a second arachnotron helps then all of this doesn't matter anymore

Normal mode??
The Barons are tough, but the plasma gun from the Anachnotrons will take them down in short order.
Not until the *Spider mastermind* with its auto super shotgun fights on arachno side
1:09 think of how much easier the arachnotrons could have won if half of them didn’t get into each other’s way.

Barons also were into each other's way all the battles

Arachnotrone was genleman allowing baron to do 1-2 shots 1st
Arachnotrons won because of continuous shooting. Baron won because of more health. Both are equally dangerous
I can never shake the feeling that arachnotrons uniquely do not possess the ability to see if there's something in the way. It seems they constantly shoot at another arachnotron without repositioning.

The arachnotrons are better when they are a few than many
It all comes down to fire rate.
That last one was all RNG. UV Baron normally beats UV Tron while a NM Tron at that range is suppose to beat a NM Baron.
Man, I just love watching Barons get owned. I've always believed they are over rated in terms of difficulty and never understood how they are considered the most dangerous normal enemy. Their HP is high, but there's other enemies with far more powerful attacks.

Didn't know people considered the baron the "most dangerous normal enemy", in fact I always read the opposite.
When have they? They are nicknamed "Shootable doors" for a reason. Rarely a threat, just annoying
This is not surprising at all. A Baron needs to corner an arachnotron in order to beat it 1v1, unless fast monsters/nightmare is enabled.
