@@theincredible5379 different species of demons, except for the zombie kind since they can still hurt despite being the same kind, are capable of hurting eachother, making them fight themselves, this is a real problem when making these kinds of battles with zombies, they all just end up killing each other
He should have arranged them differently, like in a circle around the Pinkies.

This was so delightfully complicated for such a simple premise.
(the Last chaingunner) This is my last fight , I can no longer hold a weapon in my hands. An endless stream of dishonesty flows like a river...which we tried to stop by cutting the monster open with a hot piece of lead. We were like children throwing stones into the water, hoping to break the waves . Many gave up and chose a quick death not wanting to get into the roaring mass of the anomaly. The last strength is enough to go out to meet death and ascend in the tearing flames to give rest to the dead tramps .

The retro version of Sabaton’s “The Last Stand” is a nice touch
I was more emotionally invested in this chain gunner than any character of modern Hollywood movies.

i loved the infighting mechanism in Doom growing up. It made the game more alive.
This is genuinely accurate, the chaingunners always mow eachother down half the time in my playthroughs
When Sabaton came on it really pumped me up, was honestly on the edge of my seat awaiting the outcome of the fight
After all this years, I only now realized that the ammo belt the chaingunner holds comes from a box on his back. Sir, you've opened my eyes.

It was nerve recking when the last chaingun guy had a hoard of pinkies approaching him surrounded by his dead comrades.
So if the chain gunners were in a better formation they would have stomped the pinkies. It was one row of chain gunners vs. All the other chain gunners and the pinkies.

How is it that a chaingunner has infinite ammo for his own use, and yet if he dies and you pick up his equipment, you only get a few bullets out of it? 🤔 Does he produce an infinite stream of bullets for his own use by pooping more out as he fires them? Is he the goose that lays the iron alloy bullets? (Most bullets actually aren't made out of lead, not since the 19th century at least)

for real though, you could have had a quarter as many chaingunners but distributed them better and they would have almost all survived by the time the demons were all dead.

Do stuff like this but have others fight the demons. Have a bunch of shotgun guys fight them.. maybe alter some parameters by having some ai not fight each other
The chaingunners have the deck stacked in their favor, given how impeccable their aim is, and the fact that they never run out of ammo. Easily the one of the cheesiest enemies in Doom.
They have a deviation of up to 11 degrees from their target
One Doomtuber, I think it was decino or Marphtimus, mentioned that based on their playing stats, besides archviles, hitscanning chaingunners were most likely to kill them than any other Doom creature.
