FE Awakening is a game that comes to my mind which I enjoyed significantly more on the second playthrough. Catherine (Full Body) was also made to be replayed several times, especially with its short playtime and satisfying gameplay that only gets better as you get to know the mechanics over the course of the game. I still hate the Hard difficulty though, I think it's beyond masochistic and doesn't allow for any creative solutions. I wish Atlus made more experimental games like Catherine. Or even more of the lower budget stuff from the 3DS era. I will also add that restarting Animal Crossing from scratch, specifically New Leaf in my case, can be an interesting experience as well. But you must be willing to part with most of your progress and all your villagers and the entire town you have in the first place. Unless you use third party save backups, that is.
I hear 2nd Run is better and i instantly picture the FE Tellius saga and Bayonetta.Oh and Nier my beloved... the fact that i went in with no expectations at all. Also I resonated with your BOTW experience. Even when I onwed it I totally took it for granted and felt no wonder at all during my first playthrough, I rushed the whole thing, used to climb the highest spots and min/maxing my way through . Couple years later (and thanks to matthewmatosis) I gave it a go, intentionally followed the "intended" paths, removed the UI and got into the role... it greatly shifted and enchanted my persection and appreciationg about it. I think the Bioshock saga gets better the more you play and on a replaythrough you get more context in replays. You have no idea how many times I said: "Oh so that's why..." when replaying all 3 gamesa second time
Yeah games should be allowed to be enjoyed more than once. I never understood the mentality you can only "play a game once" and that's it most people think is a good idea I feel what most mean is "experience" it once lile ff 7 where you can only see aerith get stabbed once and replays you know it coming. Game value doesn't drop quality on reruns people
Similarly to Unicorn Overlord, I think Devil Survivor is really repayable. Lots of demon and team builds to try out, and on top of that! a story with enough missables and endings to encourage several playthroughs
Stalker is my most played game especialy call of prypiat, the feel you get from starting your journey in the zone for the first time and feeling like a stranger on a new continent starting to see the horrors that hide in there remind you that you are not welcome there but every subsecuent playtrught you become more and more sage about the dangers and places of the zone you trutly become a master of it, and theres a point you can call yourself a guide from the zone all the knowloge and experiencie you get make you in contact like if you became one with the zone its simply a perfect feeling.
Tales of series. Fire emblem. Valkyria Chronicles. Project x zone. Paper mario. Mario rpg. Sonic adventure two battle. Kirby games. Etc Tales of series is ridiculously better on the second playthrough as you only hust started playing the game and replay you get the full experience by getting all the side missions in abyss xillia etc and see what changes like dysc surviving and seeing him and jade talking about their teacher. Xillia a happy ending for hamil seeing people come back and populate it. Valkyria Chronicles i can't wait to play the maps again with all my skills and knowledge to get better runs. Sonic adventure is so much fun. I enjoy everytime i play it and chao garden is never boring to play. I'd play an entire game just for that. Fire emblem i have way more fun the second time seeing which unit is best and honestly personal reason like in awakening tharja was just the best girl and i didn't really see her as i was seeing everything at once in story so it all blended together. Fates definitely same as engage are way more fun when you play again. Not 3 houses that sucked I'd say kh gow are also good.
I just played KRTDL (the remake) and i’m finding the extra mode more fun than the first playthrough because i know the ability moves and sphere locations now, and the low health makes it more challenging.
@@Illager_Fries_Gaming oh yeah that does sound fun. I would add bug fable but I haven't played it a second time yet. Heck racing games are also fun this way when you know how the map works and getting a good run or winning with a short cut can be a rush. Tales of graces that is insane the second time around as the first half as kids is super fun when you got more ap to do combos and such.
Funny enough, I think Three Houses has great replay value with the NG+, but I understand if you hate it, doing White Clouds all over again can be a pain
@@TheGameShelf i can understand the replay value but wish they just let us skip to the second part and that's me after breaking the game with fast level up strats and warp team. Though even replay value is questionable as a lot of the maps are very similar or the same. Wish they gave us more unique maps to play.
DEAD RISING really is one of the perfect games to replay for a few years i was replaying dead rising 1 like one maybe even twice a year its been like 2 or 3 years since i stopped it so maybe its about time i go play the game again its one of my favorite games
Nice to see dead rising get a mention here ^^ I remember first playing dead rising 2 having loads of fun with all the weapon combos. The game's time limit got me wanting to get the different endings for the full experience, and to try saving all the survivors in 1 run (I think it was my poker skills that stopped me 1 run 😂) saving to buy that big vehicle just so I could now down zombies in it, so here I was grinding that big slot machine! Throwing steaks for the tiger hoping they will take the bait. The chainsaw bike mode! Good times 😁

as obvious as this feels, I think this phenomenon exists because games have this thing with the first playthrough where you're kinda overwhelmed, you're just like ''damn this is a lot!! but I'm doing the video-gaming so i must be doing something right??" and that's how you feel for the entire game, and when you play it the second time, you have some idea of what to do, and you start to appreciate the game's design when you're not completely overwhelmed by all the new things the game's throwing at you, i had this happen to me when i first played Pizza Tower, got through the game with A ranks, and i was so entirely sure that i wasn't gonna get P-Ranks on the main levels because it was just too much to do in such a super-fast fashion, so i went for S-Ranks only And then i got a p-rank on accident on DeepDish-9 and i felt glory for just a few moments, and now, 300+ hours later, i got two 101% save-files for Peppino, an 100% save file for Noise, and i'm aiming for Noise's max rank, video games are awesome.
This is why play time =/= fun value. Pikmin 1 is of my Top 10 favourite games of all time and I can consistently clear it in a single day or even sitting, that does not make it bad or less valuable.
METROID GAMES!!!! Trying to get these secret endings for beating the game fast with a certain lvl of completion! And also my favorite game series, Legend of Heroes, but not like replaying individual games, I'm talking replaying them with the knowledge of future games in mind. We're coming to our 13th game later this year and it's one continuous narrative that follows up on each other, as such, the cumulative sum of them all becomes massive. But going back to older games means you get to see things from a new perspective or see the details and setup that you didn't think about. A character talking about another one you had no knowledge of at the time but when you replay that dialogue, you now know what this exchange means. There are so many things they have been planning out in advance with the expectations of giving those teasers and foreshadowing an eventual payoff and it's fun to find out how far back a teaser can go, sometimes 5-6 games apart, and soon to be one of the first time meeting of a character in the 13th game whose existence was known about since the 2nd-3rd game and I couldn't be more hype!

I was really into the video and really agreed with your botw choice, in college I barely had time to replay games and I almost never buy a game twice, I got botw on wii u and when I got my switch got botw again and the second playthrough did not disappoint. where the first one was filled with magic of discovery the second really let me play around with my route, I went to the rito first because one going through the snow area at low hp and limited resources sounded fun and two picking up revalis gale early was so comfy for the entire playthrough. that said i do disagree when you talked about the oiling up powerup from the new game + mode of pizza tower, I felt like the twerk to instantly get get a P rank felt counter intuitive to the games spirit of challenge despite needing all P ranks to unlock the oiled up mode twerk.
*Mafia 3 was that game for me. I thought it was really repetitive the first time I played it but now I've beat it 5 times and its probably my most played game of all time and I'm STILL playing it 8 years later* 🌈🙌
