Bro that thumbnail is genius! Also you got a lot of guts to say all this stuff about these games knowing the toxic fandoms they share! Honestly I completely agree with you with everything you said about every game here.
Never like Overwatch! The toxicity that spreads from that game really pushed me away from giving it a chance. As for Persona 5 it was good but I agree with you when it comes the characters. I couldn’t get connected with them the same way I got extremely attached to the character of Persona 4.

For me three houses was a game that was fine in comparison to other fe games due to the gambits and combat arts but the replay value , despite being multiple routes , was too tiring to me since the first half of the game is always the same no matter the house you pick. Personally I like any of fates routes since they all genuinely make me have fun but if I’m tired by playing a game something tells me I shouldn’t be a professor at the momentary

I had a mini scare when you started that DK64 clip. NUUUUUH DK64 IS GOATED AND MY CHILDHOOD! Thank god it was just a meme clip to use XD.
Man Overwatch...yeah we had the best times when we were not playing serious. Had a series of matches in No Limit where we matched with players that agreed to play along the joke. 6 Wrecking Balls just spinning non stop on point, 6 Mei just walling an entire part of the map the whole time, and our best, 6 Sombra just running invisible around the enemy team spamming "boop!". Also had some good times when the enemy team had 1 toxic player raging and both ours AND the enemy team were united in mocking that guy and it all started because I turned one of his comments into a cheeky joke. (that I don't think I can share without youtube striking the comment down). Uninstalled before the release of OW2 and still stays uninstalled, I intend to keep it that way.
    my picks might be:
Mario Kart Double Dash, YES I SAID THAT, but mostly because I wish I remembered it for the greatness it was, not the terrible turning controls when you compare it to later entries when you come back to play it.
The Lord of the Ring games on gamecube, ironically with my friend just after trying MKDD and having the above issue we tried this one, and we dropped a few minutes in because we could barely see what we were doing, maybe it's a setup issue but it just didn't work and we couldn't play it properly.
Could maybe add Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate if you stretch it, the game is still fun in most parts but I couldn't handle more underwater combat and the later gameplay updates really change the experience, even something as small as being able to stay on the ground and choose when you get back up instead of just being forced to get up into a monster's attack. Funnily enough, the skill Rocksteady was so good because it made your character avoid complete knockdown on the ground so you could maneuveur to recover faster, but then it was actually a detriment in the next game because you specificlaly couldn't choose to stay on the ground and wait for the right time to get up, you just had less control of the situation if you used it.

I fell out of Pokemon despite playing them all during 6th-8th gen, but gen 9 got me back. I played genshin impact a lot in 2022, was the only gacha I ever played, but i got so burnt out and just couldn't be assed to play more gachas now and forever. Splatoon 3 was the first splatoon I got on launch and it was ABYSMAL with content. I understood 2 at launch, but 3 had no excuse to be as barren as it was, I haven't touched it since the first month it was out
Probably the biggest fell out of love for me is Runescape. I actually really liked the new changes runescape started making, but it eventually stopped being what I loved about Runescape in the first place. It became so over cumbersome to play. Not even all the qol changes compared to old school, which I really really like, weren't enough to keep me anymore. I eventually went to old school, I miss some of those qol changes but it's such a nicer simpler vibe

I love every entry in the Fire Emblem series, but Sacred Stones was my least favorite besides FE2 (The NES version) and the Fates trilogy. But it is still a great game overall; but I find the game too easy even on hard mode is my main concern.
As for games I used to love but don't love anymore. I used to love Shadow the Hedgehog, TMNT 2003 for Gamecube/Xbox/PS2, Various licensed GBC/GBA games made by 3DO, various LEGO games, and many others. Some of these like the Lego games are still good games, but so many gamers I used to love as a kid are games I realize were mediocre and unmemorable for their generations. Funny how perspectives can change.

Pokemon games, specifically Platinum as it's my childhood favorite, and also the Pokemon game I've replayed most recently. (well actually that was Scarlet/Violet but I've always disliked that game so it doesn't count for this)
I wouldn't say it's bad by any means and there will always be that nostalgia factor that keeps me from ever not truly loving it, but I found my most recent playthrough of the game to be pretty tedious and didn't leave a huge positive impact on me.

Yeah, Persona 5 is fine, but I think what mostly make people that weren't rpg fans the enjoyment of it it was the UI/UX
The only thing I really found amazing is how fluid you go through the menus, and mostly in battle, instead of just having to menu back and forth, it makes every button do something different and that is the only thing I truly enjoy about P5, combat thanks to this menu. I went back to 4 Golden and 3 FES and the lack of it was making me enjoy things a bit less.
But Persona 3 Reload having it is amazing, I haven't seen a lot but seems Metaphor has it too.
That is one of the greatest things to come out of 5, the combat menu.

I've not played many Fire Emblem games, but from those Ive played Awakening was the one I played the most. 3 or 4 times back to back, trying new things and all.
Then I played Shadow Dragon and New Mystery of the Emblem and I loved them: the touch controls are so snappy and responsive that I miss them qhen playing literally ANY other game of the series, but the stand out for me was the maps. Sure, these are remakes of games from the early 90's but some of these maps were quite challenging and fun to explore and grind. Going back to Awakening I just... Didn't care anymore. The story was never its strong suit, and comparing the now boring and super simple map designs with barely any challenge, the broken mechanics (that are still fun but grow stale the more you tou play, and the characters that catered more to the "anime" status the series has nowadays that I didn't mind at first but prefered the old style... Yeah, Awakening is just a fine game that I respect, but is surpassed by the 1st and 3rd games in its own series, essentially.

I'm a major Saints Row 3 & 4 defender (it's kind of concerning how many people get mad at me for daring to say I like SR3 and 4), but 3 has probably aged the worst because it's kind of in the middle between focusing on gameplay with a serious plotline and humor. 4 goes crazy but 3 holds back. It doesn't help that it came out at the height of LOLRANDOM humor.
Also I streamed SS once and never returned because the only good thing was the maps. Other than that, it was incredibly easy and the story was meh.
As for me, the game I used to love was Chamber of Secrets on PC (the console version was mediocre imo). It doesn't hit the same for uh... obvious reasons.

One thing Sacred Stones always gets hate for are those two world map locations where you can grind endlessly. Fans say it goes against the Fire Emblem formula where limited experience is a key factor. And they're right, which is why I recommend never setting foot in those places, even on hard mode. I beat the game on hard without making use of those locations and it felt about as balanced as FE7 (perhaps still a little bit easier). I'm 100% convinced these locations where added in late into development for the sake of just having more content and the gameplay wasn't balanced around them. Just skip them for a more authentic classic FE experience.

I also want to say as a P5 enjoyer one of the core issues with the games themes in the base game is that their idealogies are never meaningfully challenged and the fight for freedom is (well naturally) always framed as an inherently good thing. because their ideas are never challenged the constant muttering of "we gotta save society!" can feel somewhat hollow.
I dont want to spoil why but its one of the things that makes Royals new finale so much better because it actually challenges the ideas of the characters and game and makes the fight for freedom actually have weight, purpose and consequences.

I've been saying that since I played 3h. Before I played I heard it was great and broke modes and blah blah.
It wasn't. Edegard route is bland and boring. All of each part 1 is the exact same story. Gameplay is mid at best.
Character wise I love how people pretend they love self inserts who don't speak like byleth while bashing robin Kris corrin etc.
Fates is a better game as while the story is not good the routes are at least unique and gameplay fire.

@@CrickettoSantalune nah it was only half of it. I have genuine problems with how three houses was handled, not just the fandom. Again I think the map design is atrocious and the feel of the game just feels boring on later playthroughs. I was just tired of how everyone praised it like it didn't have any problems which eventually cemented my indifference to the game as a whole. It's still a fine game, just not one I adore like everyone else does.

    • @aSaltedSnax
      @aSaltedSnax 2 месяца назад +2

@@CrickettoSantaluneI think that's a pretty fair assessment, but I think the difference between Pokemon and Fire Emblem have 2 major differences between them.
Firstly, the ways people can enjoy the game are more varied between. In your example, graphics are one part (albiet major) part of a game. You still have the story, gameplay mechanics, and competitive scene to judge if Pokemon has value to you. Contrast that with 3 Houses, which has a less than enjoyable combat experience on harder modes, and suffers with the switch's performance, leading to most of the conversation leading towards the story (which the game tries to push foward as well). You are playing Fire Emblem for either the characters, or the combat.
Secondly, your example has a type of critisism of a game, which can bring down the experience, but if you don't care about graphics, then you can still understand the critism, but you can look past that. With 3 Houses, the story is put on a higher pedastal than the graphics are, as most people aren't going looking for Fire Emblem games for graphics, but rather the setting, and the aforementioned characters and combat.
TL;DR - While it is fair to say that you can distance yourself from a community, it can bring experiences that positively impact your experience worth the game more than you just playing it if you are passionate about it. While conparing S/V's graphics to 3 Houses' character discussion, it falls apart when one is talking about the game itself, and the other one also talks about the themes and narratives presented by the story and the characters.
Sorry if this was a long read, I an just very passionate about online topics that may or may not matter.
