Bowser from Bowser's Inside Story doesn't exactly feel super broken, but it really does sell how big and imposing he is. I love how, instead of doing silly jump attacks like the Bros. do, the guy really just settles for punching enemies straight in the face. And it always feels SO satisfying when you hit that perfect punch, and EVEN MORE SO in the end of the final boss of the game (if you know, you know).

i think the most broken part about the noise isn't really his moveset - it's his transformations.
nearly every single transformation has been changed JUST for the noise, and pretty much all of them make the transformation straight up more broken. both the knight and the rocket transformation bounces off walls, mort is now throwable and can reach pretty much everywhere, the shotgun becomes a gatling gun - everything is just off the rails.
and it isn't just that it's good, it's fun too. it's to a point where certain transformations (such as cheese) can be considered superior to their former selves. noise doesn't just break the game, he REDEFINES it.

literally legendary pokemons after you catch them. Mewtwo remains a favorite
Gaius in Tales of Xillia 2 which they decided "instead of nerfing him and destroying his image we'll make him super OP but limit how much you get to play as him".
Yes also Ganondorf in Hyryle Warriors, with Trident is my favorite
Alan Richard/Renne Hayworth in Trails in the Sky the Third. Alan being a pretty cool boss fight in the first game, and an absolute speed demon when he join. Renne being a nuclear button with slightly more potential than Olivier but more risky because glass cannon stats.
Vivian in Paper Mario is arguably even better than when she was a boss fight because she can actually hide you from dangerous attacks which she doesn't do for her sisters.
Hornet in Hollow Knight is so strong they're holding out on releasing her game in fear!!! THAT STRONG!

I really liked how in FE: Awakening Walhart later becomes playable. He's an absolute beast of a unit, with only one real weakness being his low res and I guess middling speed. But, he has this unique Conquest skill that only he has. If you get S support with him as Female Robin, you can then pass down his awesome skill to Morgan and use heavy armor classes without the weakness. Through supports In that game in general, it was just great how they allowed bosses to become better understood and in a way redeem themselves despite their role in the story

I feel like the Championship Edition of Street Fighter II could also count for this list, because it lets you play as the previously boss-only Four Heavenly Kings that were balanced with eating quarters in mind. But there's something so satisfying about a character like the Noise completely changing how the game is played.

Queen Sigma from Vampire Survivors (Please play it). She’s not the final boss technically, but you unlock her after 100% the base game. It sounds hard, but you can also use a cheat code to unlock her early.
Anyways she has the best stats in the game, a revive her base weapon is really good, hitting enemies multiple times a second and synergizes well with most of the game’s arcana (bonus modifiers you can choose during a run). She can also get 5-6 arcanas relatively early, when the rest of the cast gets 3-4 max. And in a game about what weapons and skills you get randomly, being able to reroll for a chance to get better stuff (or even remove things from the pool) is pretty op.
There are times where my switch crashed because she kept killing too many enemies and they had to keep spawning. So yeah good game would recommend

I was just wondering why Ganondorf is in the very middle of the tiers. Before I get into what I mean, allow me to first put out there that I have been playing for years, and I have watched MANY videos of the tournament masters.
My brother and I found out, through years of play, literally EVERY advanced technique in the game, except the wavedash, which we stumbled upon, but wrote off as simply hilarious. I was surprised to find that all the wacky observations we have encountered and adapted are actually defined in the glossary in the sticky topic above! Three of the particularly surprising terms that I could not believe had been widely known and utilized were the Phantom Hit (I just thought I had a glitchy game) and that effect where recovering at the right time from attacks that sent you flying results in an upward boost if you jump out/air dodge/whatever early enough (I cannot remember what it was called in the sticky), and the waveland.
Now, I have been using Ganondorf against my brother lately, and he cannot seem to beat me. We think we know why, and we think it puts Ganon at the top of the tiers. I will be brief. Ganondorf has his air forward. We call it 'The Punch.' It has that special hitbox like a sword, hence it goes right through anything except an attack with that same type of hitbox. It does 17% max, is relatively fast executing, has basically instant recovery on a barrier cancel, and is quite massive, killing at rather low percentages.
If he misses, he can just do his A punch if the opponent tries to retaliate, or shield/roll. I am telling you, Ganondorf is a crazy meat mountain who crushes bones with many attacks doing 15+%, survives to insane damages thanks to his weight, and has ridiculous horizontal recovery (Double Jump, Ganondorf Kick Down B, ANOTHER Double Jump, ARE YOU SERIOUS, Up B).
Next, check his roll. It goes like half screen. It makes him rather fast, nearly eliminating his speed problem on the ground, and a great character when it comes to the defensive game. It pretty much eliminates the need for his wavedash, which, with Ganondorf, who needs to do most of his attacking from hops, is pretty much useless already unless you are looking to smash attack. Wavesmashing, however, in my opinion, is also a bad idea, because, in the time and damage it takes you to actually land a smash, you could have just used The Punch and killed you opponent by then.
Even though he has to fight mostly in the air, 3 of his 4 air attacks are pretty fast, and are quite massive. A major advantage he has is that nearly all his attacks move the opponent considerably, and can topple him from 0%, so his opponent gets little to no counterattack opportunity.
The only explanation I can find for why he is low on the tiers is that no one has used him seriously. I think he really keeps up, if not tops, the top tier characters.
I really do not like to simply shoot my mouth, and I am not one who thinks it right to shower a character in encomium, and never actually prove anything. Is there online for this somewhere, or is that simply wishful thinking? If not, please do not yell at me and stuff until you at least check out The Punch. Goes right through projectiles, goes right through attacks, goes right through faces. Please just give Ganondorf another shot and tell me what you thnk.
Final Comment: People have a tendency to think that posts from newcomers to a board but veterans of its respective game are saying they are better than everyone else, regardles of what the post actually says. Please note that I did not say 'I am better than you' or 'Ganon is better than Fox.' I said, essentially: 'Ganon seems to be great. These are his strengths. He may top Fox. Check him out and see if you agree.' I will say, however, that I am a full master of Ganondorf.
Please give Ganondorf a second look before responding so you know where I am coming from!

I personally never had been able to have the privilege to play as a boss in a video game, (Mainly because I didn't have those types of games) but I still really enjoyed this video! Especially the Virgil section at the end. Maybe it's because I've never played a Devil May Cry game before, but I was so damn curious about him as soon as you started talking! But yeah I think I'm going to try a Devil May Cry game now, mainly because it looked so fun!

If you're up for more Devil May Cry type games --or at least with similar combat-- here's a list of recommendations.
      - The Darksiders series (mainly 1 and 2), The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile, Soulstice, and i heard good stuff about Assault Spy too. There's also the Lords of Shadows games, which combat-wise seem somewhere in-between DMC type combat and God of War.
DThe Darksiders series and Soulstice have a lot to offer in terms of personality, characters and world too. They're amongst my favourites in the genre.
Oh, and there's also stuff like No Straight Roads, and the upcoming Genokids and Enenra Daemon Core.
Immortal: And the Death that Follows may be interesting too. As well as Clash: Artifacts of Chaos. Clash is a lot more grounded in terms of combat in comparison, but it's got a world like no other. Rarely any humans in sight-- it's all monsters, freaks, mutants and chimeras, inspired from prehistoric animals, medieval monster paintings, and people have said they look like they could fit in movies like The Dark Crystal.

Appropriately enough, Vergil's own brother deserves a mention.
"Featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series" has become such a meme it has eclipsed the fact that Dante was a fantastic addition to that game (Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne), both as a recurring boss and as a playable party member.
Not only are his boss encounters fairly challenging yet fun, not only is his battle theme a banger, not only is his dialogue very in-character (arguably more than DMC 2, ironically), not only is he the only enemy that gets to chase you through a dungeon and shoot at you in real time outside of the turn based combat... but he's really fun and useful once you recruit him.
Despite being very late game, he makes his short time in your party count with his high stats, attack variety, Almighty damage, and most importantly... pierce. It's an ability so rare and almost mandatory against the true final boss, I've seen a couple of videos where players put the demi-fiend (the main character) on a supporting role and let Dante do all the offense when dealing with Lucifer.
MegaTen games should bring him back!

    • @TheGameShelf
      @TheGameShelf  Месяц назад

Now that you mention that, Dante is also an extremely difficult boss in DMC4 so TECHNICALLY speaking he's a playable boss in DMC too lol, but that would've been too much of a stretch maybe

they've all killed before, Ogerpon killing the "Loyal Three" in revenge for attacking her human companion, and the Guardian having killed the respective professor.

His reasons for being so overpowered all rounding back to the whole thing being a movie makes it all the more hilarious how Noise is so willing to just... cheat his way throughout the Tower's many mechanics and bosses, i'm not gonna repeat what you said in your PT videos, but i will say this: Where as Peppino's gameplay is fun and satisfying due to just being able to steamroll through any enemies in your way, having more lenient tech and mechanics and a more low skill ceiling, Noise is fun due to how bouncy and wacky he is, and just how overall different and generally harder to control he is compared to Peppino, which makes sense.
