Thanks for watching, everyone! I hope you enjoyed the video. Please let me know what you thought of it and what consoles you'd like to see me do similar lists on.
I would love to see a vid on JP only puzzle games. Battle Balls PS1, all the Panic Bombers, Sakura Wars Columns, Magical Drop, Puyo Puyo Sun, the Saturn Gundam puzzle game, and so many more. It's a shame puzzle games have been hijacked by mobile phones.
1:28 - Super Back to the Future 3:41 - Tetris Battle Gaiden 5:58 - The Great Battle V 8:26 - Front Mission Gun Hazard 11:01 - Do Re Mi Fantasy 14:00 - Macross Scrambled Valkyrie 16:40 - Gundam Wing Endless Duel 19:40 - Dragon quest V 22:37 - Violinist Hamln 25:58 - Seiken Densetsu 3 (Trials of Mana)
Well, Seiken Densetsu 3 isn't Secret Of Mana 3, since Secret Of Mana is already the second part. (Final Fantasy Adventure, remade as Sword Of Mana and Adventures Of Mana, is the first Seiken Densetsu.) Seiken Densetsu 3 is now known in English as Trials Of Mana.
I grew up in Australia but was fortunate enough to have my grandmother send me Famicom and Super Famicom games from Japan as a kid. Great video by the way, and I had quite a few of those games on your list in my collection too.
Definitely gonna be starting myself a Famicom & SuperFamicom collection very soon. All these videos showing so many awesome games makes me wish I was a kid with access to some if not all of them back then. Great channel, love your videos, glad I found & subbed to your channel.
There's already an official English version of Seiken Densetsu 3 (localized as Trials of Mana) which can be played in Collection of Mana in the Nintendo Switch. Some hackers have extracted the game and it is playable in SNES.
What a great list, thank you for sharing! I'll definitely have to keep my eyes open for these, as they all look really fun! I only have 4 SFC games right now (mostly limited to ebay as my retro shops mostly have soccer and horse racing games, lol). Right now I have Mickey Mouse's Tokyo Disneyland Adventure, Donald Duck's Magical Hat, Gunbare Goemon, and Street Fighter 2. I've also been on a regular Famicom kick of finding cool stuff on there too! I'm gonna be in trouble if I ever get to visit Japan, lol! Anyways, love your videos!
Thanks! I highly recommend picking up any of these games if they look good to you, and bonus the RPGs all have English translations available for them now.
Have any one played game named BIKKEN2(correct name i forgot) It have some characters like 1.man with black dhoti 2.black tank jean pant who kicks with bent knee 3.karate with speed kicks **Final level it have Man with TIGER MASKS** PLEASE DO REPLY I, ATLEASTI WANT TO WATCH THE GAMEPLAY,THAT much i loved it
DoReMi Fantasy may be my favorite video game of all-time. There is something so solid, fun and special about it, that I play it more than any 16-bit game. I can't really explain it. Macross Scrambled Valkyrie and Violinist Of Hamelin would easily make a top list of my favorite 16-bit games. Great choices. I must play Super Back To The Future 2.
That's understandable, DoReMi Fantasy is an amazing game, I can easily see it being number one on somebody else's list. That's the trouble with videos like this, the games are so good it's really difficult to order them.
In terms of future videos, I do like hearing about games on systems that don't need any/ mods to play such as SNES, 64, and GameBoy. (Basically no mods for the first two, but you know what I mean)
It can be played pretty easily without being able to read Japanese, but it also has an English translation available now if you want to enjoy the story.
Jim this is a fucking awesome idea for a video. 10.) Back To The Future Part II: I can't really say that I would be interested in playing this game. 9.) Tetris Battle Gaiden - I love tetris plus for the saturn and I would definitely love to play this game myself. 8.) The Great Battle 5 - This look to be an incredible action platformer. I would love to play this. 7.) Front Mission: Gun Hazard - This looks unbelievably awesome. 6.) Do Re Mi Fantasy - This is so unbelievably cute. A definite pick up and play game for me. 5.) Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie - The macross anime and the shoot'em up gaming formula is such a winning combination. 4.) Gundam Wing: Endless Duel - This is probably one of the best fighting games on the snes and its such a crying shame that it never made its way to North America. 3.) Dragon Quest V - An entry in the dragon quest series that I haven't had a chance to play yet. It's really unfortunate that we got jipped out the dragon quest titles for the snes but oh well, what can you do. 2.) Violinist of Hamil - God the sprite work in that game looks so beautiful. 1.) Seiken Densetsu 3 - Even to this day I still have not played the original secret of mana and i hear this game trumps the original in every way possible. Even though I don't collect imports, I'll have to find a way to play this timeless classic. I think one of the best things about a video like this Jim is you bring attention to games that may not have been known to the general gaming public. I can't help but notice that a lot of the games are from the very end of the super nintendo lifespan which makes me feel like the North American market got screwed during some of the late releases of the snes library. Even though I'll never be able to play the physical versions of these games, I sincerely hope the majority of them are fan translated so I can try them through emulation or various other means.
Violinist of Hameln, Front Mission: Gun Hazard, Dragon Quest V and Seiken Densetsu 3 all have English translations available, I highly recommend checking them out. The rest can be played and enjoyed even without being able to read the text.
Liking the RPG love. I remember cutting my teeth too on those beautiful RPGs. Dragon quest oh how I wish we got all of you here! This makes me want to do some game stuff. Once the thumb heals I’m coming back. This video is great brother!
We did get a lot of them. I have DQ 4,5, 6, 8 and 9 on DS and 3DS. Then 10 is an MMO I think. Of course DQ 8 came out on multiple systems. Another really fun spinoff is Rocket Slime. I love that game! I'm waiting for 11 on Switch😃
Just trying to digest the language, the most common Kanji, totally addicted on anything Japanese, food, people, language, you name it. Thanks for ALL the awsome vids dude.
Excellent selection! A bit surprised for not seeing Magical Pop'n. If you like tactical, you also can not go wrong with Fire Emblem Seisen no Keifu which is just one of the best game I have played. Not one of the best game but you might want to try out Melfand Stories with ok price and great graphics! Also if you like mecha games, you should try EX-Ranza on the Megadrive. Nice gameplay and the graphics are some of the best that I've seen so far (price is affordable) on the system.
If I had an honorable mentions segment, Magical Pop'n would have been in there. I considered a lot of games for this list. I actually own EX-Ranza, I really like that game.
This was a very enjoyable video to watch. Especially your wide variety of great game footage to capture each and every single games uniqueness, stands out in my opinion. Haven't played Super Famicom / Nintendo games in a while but this video reminded again how awesome these games are. Boarders are the only let down, sorry :P
Thanks to online sells, borders aren't such an issue anymore so I'm hoping more people will give games like these some attention. Plus, there's always emulation.
Thanks! The best way to enjoy Tetris Battle Gaiden is to get a group of friends together who are familiar with it and have a tournament. It's a very competitive game. I should warn you though, friendships may be destroyed.
Good stuff Jim this is right on point with what you have given me suggestions about. You know your stuff for sure👍👍👍 Just found me a copy of doremifantasy too🎶
I'd probably have to slip Super Fire Pro Wrestling X Premium into my top 10 list, just based alone on the amount of time I have put into it, as it is easily the best wrestling game on the Super Famicom. It's a shame we mostly got stuck with the LJN junk here in the states, though we did get a couple decent scattered between just not the best stuff that the system had to offer.
Personally, I like Godzilla: Kaiju Daikessen (Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters). It's a tournament fighting game with Godzilla characters. It was teased on the Nintendo Power magazine for the SNES, but it was never released.
Since you're a fan of platformers, I would have expected to see some Goemon games on there. North Americans only got one "Mystical Ninja" game for the Super NES, but the several sequels are just as good or better.
Pretty solid list Jim, DQV is one the best in the serie . I need to get Gun Hazard I played it a little but I need to really play it. Too bad DoReMi is now $300-$400 game though I would have loved to own this game, only played it on emulator.
Yeah, the price of DRMF has gotten out of control lately which is really too bad, it's an amazing game. Gun Hazard has an English translation now which is awesome, that game deserves a lot more attention.
Always glad to see Ji doing what he does best. You know why folks? Because Jim is just to awesome to get bored. 8^) Always a pleasure to see you in action Jim. 8^) Anthony..
I have Tetris BG, DoReMi. Tetris BG is so great but I haven't played DoReMi yet. I would also recommend Super Bomberman 3 to Super Famicom importers. A really great version of Bomberman where you can ride kangaroos. Kangaroos!
Seiken Densetsu 3. It's no longer exclusive to Japan, released worldwide as Trials Of Mana. It's translated and included in the Collection Of Mana for the Switch, and remade in 3D recently for Switch/PS4/Windows, as well.
Thanks for the suprising games! I can recommend you Ranma chougi ranbu hen. It is by far the best ranma fighting game on snes with its biggest downside being that it lacks a "turbo" mode like street fighter.
You missed Rendering Ranger, in my opinion the best shooter/platformer of the 16 bit era, no slowdowns at all, renderized graphics, incredibly fast gameplay with dozens of sprites, incredible sound and more. See ya.
Some of my favourite SFC exclusives not in this list are: Mickey & Donald’s Magical Adventure 3 Umehara Kawase Battle Cross Dragonball Z: Hyper Dimension
its not a game but sort of a specialize console. but have your heard of the SF-1 SNES TV? ill put a link down below. But when i was a kid visiting japan every other summer, back when mario world came out. i remember seeing these in electronic shops in akihabara. it might not have been for sale but just used at stores as a display type thing for people to play. i just remember it vaguelly and thinking how awesome it was. nintendo.fandom.com/wiki/SF-1_SNES_TV
I still don't understand how SBTTF2 never made it to the US. So dumb. Still need to grab Tetris Battle Gaiden. I recently got Macross SV from a Hapa box. Glad to finally own it. Great shmup! I also want to pick up hebereke's popoitto, but the Saturn version has better music.
Yeah, some of these games seem like they would have been no brainers to release in the US and Europe, especially SBTTF2, Tetris BG, DoReMi Fantasy and Seiken Densetsu 3, all of those seem perfect for the North American market.
KidShoryuken I noticed that! Towards the end of every system life cycle developers crank out some of the best looking games for said platform, and judging by the games you have shown, I don't think we, Super Nintendo fans got a proper send off, it's a shame hundreds of games never made it to the US.
Gundam has 10 bots, the final boss epyon can be used in vs mode and time trial. Love the macross, was wondering how it didnt come to the US. at 1993 it will beat every other shoot em up. how about the mystery games of the Super Famicom those are amazing as well

@@JonLeung1 Thanks for the heads up. I’m not actually a big fan of the seiken densetsu series so I wasn’t sure.

You're my new favourite RUclips channel, great reviews!
You sold me on the gundam in the cowboy hat
Thanks. Added a few of these to my collection. Love your videos!
Always happy to help. :)
Hey man, thank you for making this list! I'm definitely going to check some of these games out!
No problem, it was my pleasure. :)
Man, I've been trying to find out the name of the movie with giant robots since my childhood. Obrigado. Nice channel, congrats
Great picks! Thanks so much for this!
Thanks for this Jim. Been looking for info on missed titles from younger years.
you mentioned an English patch for Seiken Densetsu 3 can you elaborate more about that
I will forever have that Super Mario commercial song and image burned into my memory.
And that's not a bad thing.
Love your videos bro.
There's already an official English version of Seiken Densetsu 3 (localized as Trials of Mana) which can be played in Collection of Mana in the Nintendo Switch. Some hackers have extracted the game and it is playable in SNES.

my favorite japan exclusive is Rendering Ranger R2. best graphics on the snes (best 16 bit graphics period imo).
DoReMi Fantasy may be my favorite video game of all-time. There is something so solid, fun and special about it, that I play it more than any 16-bit game. I can't really explain it. do i need to know Japanese for the Violinist of Hamel or can i just play it with out know any?
It can be played pretty easily without being able to read Japanese, but it also has an English translation available now if you want to enjoy the story.

DQ5 and Seiken Densetsu 3 have English translations available, you should look into them.

What about Kirby Star Stacker?
For the SFC
I was looking at another tab on chrome and hear the Gundam Wing intro ...I need to play this game.
One of the best 2-D fighters on the SuFami, I only rate SF2 and Killer Instinct ahead of it.
Did Japan get all the release from u.s game library
BRUUUH you def got my like.... Seiken Densetsu 3 is legendary..... 👏👏👏👌
seiken densetsu 3 looks great, but I don't want to play secret of mana, are there stories really that connected?
Why wouldn't you want to play Secret Of Mana? It's awesome, especially if you have three players.
Awesome list. I'm going to need to find a copy of that Tetris.
Thanks! The best way to enjoy Tetris Battle Gaiden is to get a group of friends together who are familiar with it and have a tournament. It's a very competitive game. I should warn you though, friendships may be destroyed.
great list. very good video
Eddie Bernerstål Thank you!
Good stuff Jim this is right on point with what you have given me suggestions about. You know your stuff for sure👍👍👍 Just found me a copy of doremifantasy too🎶
To think that in retrospective we can try these games.

Super formation soccer 94 Humam the best jogabilidade SFC

Japan super famicom games are amazing
Always glad to see Ji doing what he does best. You know why folks? Because Jim is just to awesome to get bored. 8^)
Always a pleasure to see you in action Jim. 8^)
Anthony..
Well, I don't know about all that, but thanks for saying so. :)

I have never played Front Mission Gun Hazard but love Cybernator
It's an amazing game, definitely worth at least giving a try.

Some of my favourite SFC exclusives not in this list are:
Mickey & Donald’s Magical Adventure 3
Umehara Kawase
Battle Cross
Dragonball Z: Hyper Dimension
Nice selection...
Thanks!
Ok, who else started to sing the Super Famicon jingle every time it popped up? 😂😂
Haha, that's what I was hoping would happen.
its not a game but sort of a specialize console. but have your heard of the SF-1 SNES TV? ill put a link down below. i love the fire emblem games on the famicom as well as the mystical ninja series
Yu yu hakusho
i own the macross game for super famicom im a macross/robotech fanatic
Interestingly the trend goes to not allocating attribution points again, like in Diablo 4 or 3.
Can you tell me the name of number 7 in your list?
Front Mission: Gun Hazard.
Yeah Robot Jox! A Stuart Gordon Special
rendering rangers r2 !!! amazing game also
Cool video
Give me the name of this list
I agree with 5 of them.

My favorite japanese exclusive have to be go go ackman
Seems like the Super Famicom has better graphics than the Super Nintendo!
Yeah, all of these games have really great graphics. A lot of them came out towards the end of the console's life span though.
Love the macross, was wondering how it didnt come to the US. at 1993 it will beat every other shoot em up. how about the mystery games of the Super Famicom those are amazing as well
Similar lists: definitely the PC Engine, Famicom or Mega Drive.
I intend to get around to all of those at some point.
i just dont understand why these games naver made it to the states very gppd games
It's awesome
do re mi fantasy was the shit !
There's probably more RPG's :-D maybe an rpg list
Cool
While SD3 is good, I wouldn't place that as #1 on this list. I say Gun Hazard takes #1.
I disagree with your assessment that Dragon Quest V had plain graphics.
Dude I know this may sound crazy, and perhaps an audio coincidence, but _Tetris Battle Gainden's_ bgm sounds _exactly_ like an old song about nuclear war called _So Long, Mom(A Song For World War III)_ by Tom Lehrer!! Seriously, give it a listen.
Hi. Thanks. That's hardcore, you moved to Japan for their games and otaku.
How about for the Famicom?
Thank you. God bless, Proverbs 31
battle gaiden - best VS tetris ever
Noice
Cool
