Great to see an American collector with such passion and commitment to the Japanese gaming scene; it's a rare thing. I've been a hardcore collector of Japanese games since 1989 and I can see from your library you have first rate taste. Gambatte!
Macross Scrambled Valkyrie is a top 15 all-time shoot em up for me. It just hits a certain sweet spot. Cotton 100% is certainly on my wish list. Thank you for being a key motivation for bolstering my Super Famicom collection.
Great picks! one of my favorite SNES puzzle games is Tsuyoshi Shikkarishinasai Taisen Pazurudama! Also that Psychodream gives me some EL Viento vibes but a lot more good looking
We had an official dbz release of every dbz game in France because we had dragon ball on national tv since 1988. France is after Japan the 1st market in the world for mangas.
I think the Macross game is set during the TV series because in Do you remember love Millia doesn't pilot a VF-1 because she doesn't get small, Max gets big.
Great video! Totally agree on Tetris Battle Gaiden! Many memorable battles with friends through the years. It's up there with Panel de Pon, for me. I still need to pick up That Gundam fighter. I know some people are really into it, along with the Sailor Moon-S fighter.
When I was buying Super Famicom games I wanted, one Japanese seller threw in Ghost Sweeper Mikami and I was quite pleased(a lot of Japanese sellers give u free games and trinkets, but it's usually like Famicom Transformers or something like that). Like u said, not the most amazing action platformer ever, but solid fun.
I love these buying guides, could you do one on importing PC Engine games for people that don't know how to read Japanese. I just got a Turbo Duo R and not really sure where to start, I did happen to get my hands on a copy of City Hunter for cheap, but it would be helpful for more recommendations.
Great selection, I bought Psycho Dream after John Riggs talked about it. I love telenet games it's like a super frantic Valis. Game has a few Phallic enemies that are pretty hilarious. Gundam Wing Endless Duel is probably the best fighting game on the system. Great combo system, why is this not played at EVO? Roster is 9 with 1 unlockable. Cotton is great and not too hard there are some codes that make it easier. It seems a bit washed out, I don't know if it's the game or my Framemiester settings though. I got my copy for about $50 Last year loose with Manuel. I dabbled in the rest in Emulators so I can't say much about them other than Tetris Battle Gaiden which has fantastic music.

if you could put the the names in the description and even in Japanese if you know it that would be awesome. I currently live in Japan and will start game hunting soon.
Yo Jim, do you think you could do a video on how to identify repro/fake Megadrive games? A lot of them look remarkably good and I often doubt if some of the games I own are in fact legit.
PopeTheRevXXVIII I’m talking boxes, manuals, the works. Reports are becoming super hard to identify these days, at leat to my eye. Japanese games in Particular.
Does anyone know about pricing on super famicom games in akihabara? I'm trying to look for a boxed copy of Mother 2 and I want to find out how much it would cost
Hi I was wondering if it is possible to play SNES games on the Super Famicom given you have an adaptor for the games. Any response would be appreciated! Thanks!
Yes, you can. There isn’t really a perfect way to do it; you can swap US games over into Japanese cartridges or try and find an adapter online (probably not worth the price). Some people cut up the shell; but that almost always looks ugly.
Please don't advertise repro carts of fan translations. It's highly unlikely they have their permission of the fan translators, and it puts fan translation in legal danger.
What sort of idiot comes into a channel about a person whi talks about Japanese games and makes a negative comment about his choice of Japanese games when that is the focus of the channel. Are you daft?

Thank you! I started collecting Japanese games in 2008 when I first came to Japan and haven't looked back.

Ha ha, I do what I can.
Yeah, Macross definitely has something about it that makes it stand out.
Gundam Endless Waltz is my favorite SFC fighting game outside SF2 Hyper Fighting. Everything is so well done. Great video!
Thank you!

Very cool, I was not aware of that.

Yes, I believe you're right.
Love the Municipal Waste shirt! Awesome video as well!

Thanks for this buying guide! More games I can look for next time I visit Japan!
this and the arcades are 100% the content i signed up for

If there is a notch in the cart it's a repro.
I own a few high quality repros and knew going in they were Repros that used legit carts.

I can only speak for the Genesis. Mega Drive is a bit on the expensive side for me.
That's something that's above my head, I have almost no experience with repros.
2023 those games are not affordable anymore ... and hard to find! haha great video!
Does anyone know about pricing on super famicom games in akihabara? I'm trying to look for a boxed copy of Mother 2 and I want to find out how much it would cost
It's not so expensive, you can get complete copies for about $40.
I'm ram from Cebu Philippines I have that game yu yu hakusho 2 and final very much nice and friendly game
why rainbow catton on super famico dont look like Sega mega driver version
@Obey The Beard I know and panaroma catton was expensive 300 bucks
Where is that opening song from? What game?
What is up with those shelves?
Years of use and a whole lot of earthquakes.
in macross, you can press and hold to charge up and capture ememy as power up
you game play doesnt really show that
His video is about Sufami games recommendations not how to play said games .
hey KidShoryuken
how much is macross going for loose in japan?
It can be pretty expensive actually, maybe 80 to 100 bucks. It used to be MUCH cheaper.
@@MadPanicGaming it's alot more on ebay wish i lived in japan one day i hope to go.
that shelf behind you makes me nervous lol

Damn those shelves about to bust lol
Municipal waste is going to fuck you up!

Are the fan translations for profit?
@@GreekRetroGeek No. It's highly unethical, not to mention illegal, to take payment for an unauthorized translation. No fan translator I know does so.
my favorite super famicom game is donkey kong country 2, all these games look like weeaboo garbage to me, just being honest.😂
