Devil's Crush is easily one of the greatest pinball games ever made. That soundtrack is absolutely godlike and the visuals are outstanding. It's also on the Genesis under the name "Dragon's Fury" if you don't have a Turbografx...

The Neo Geo, as far as I know, is basically a home arcade. So it was crazy expensive. The TurboGrafx was just unlucky though. It launched before the SNES and Genesis which blew away anything else at the time
The UK newsagents in my small town would import EGM and Gamepro magazines bizarrely, so I used to stare in awe at the screenshots of Turbografx games, until one day my friend took me round to his friend who had imported a PC Engine of all things! That was the only time I ever got to play on an original system, the game that stood out for me was called Gunhead, only years later did I discover that Gunhead is in fact Blazing Lazers! =) And Yeah, Neo Geo game prices lol!!

The PCE fairs a little better, most of its game library hasn't so far gripped me (again far too many generic shooters) but I'm far more interested in diving into the part of its game library that strays outside shooter territory. Or, even, discovering truly excellent PCE/Neo Geo shooters! But my first shooter was Thunder Force IV, so there's some stiff competition in my brain 😄 Live long and prosper, my fellow gamer nerd! 🖖
Zenithfilms, you have actually TOUCHED the holy console relic? Le gasp! 😂 That is genuinely pretty cool though. My current favourite PCE game is only a "by default" thing, Dynastic Hero, since I adored its Mega Drive counterpart (Wonder Boy in Monster World) as a little girl.

Don't you mean Ikari Warriors, not Imari Warriors? But yeah, Bloody Wolf is a great game for the PCE/TG16. The port was only one-player (unlike the arcade machine) and only gave you one life but added more of a plot as well as inventory items and health upgrades and reordered most of the stages after stage 2 and added a new, open-ended area.
Exactly my thoughts as I tour the Mini's library. Feels like being able to walk down a dark and forgotten corridor of the Galloping Ghost Arcade from home. So many incredible shooters!
I'll post recommendations for other games here: TurboGrafx-16: Cratermaze - A puzzle game in which each stage consists of a maze filled with various enemies and items. The player must collect all of the keys on the stage to open the exit door while avoiding or eliminating enemies. The primary method of dealing with enemies is to dig holes; if an enemy walks into a hole, they are momentarily trapped and the player can then fill the hole to kill the enemy. Final Lap Twin - A racing game in which there are two basic modes: Grand Prix and Quest. Grand Prix consists of a multi-race points championship, while quest mode functions like a racing RPG and has the player travel from town to town finding challenges and winning them to gain money and special items to improve the player's car. As the player moves around the game world, which is presented in an overhead view, the player will encounter random challenges, much like random battles in a traditional RPG. Side Arms - A shoot-'em-up in which the player controls a Lieutenant, named Henry, and is armed with crude weaponry and protective jump-suits. The player must save the earth from the mercenary invaders of Bozon by reaching Bozon’s territories in order to wipe out its forces hidden in caverns and lurking in underground seas, before destroying the main invasion ship. Timeball - A puzzle game in which each level is composed of a number of tiles and each of them has a part of a pipe (straight or angular) on it - except one which is just a black hole. On one tile, a red ball starts rolling and all tiles it rolls through become blank. The goal of each level is to let the ball roll through all pipe parts without meeting the hole or a blank tile, and the player has to ensure this by moving the tiles around. TurboGrafx-CD: Buster Bros. - An action game in which the goal is to destroy the balloons which bounce around the playfield, and this is accomplished by shooting hooks which travel upwards, and blow up any balloon they touch. Depending on their size, they either split on two smaller ones, or evaporate if they're at their minimum size. Apart from balloons, some levels also have barriers that have to be destroyed with the hooks, as since they often block access to the balloons. Cosmic Fantasy 2 - A role-playing game set in a mixed sci-fi and medieval world. Player-controlled characters can learn and use various offensive and healing spells; however, enemies are restricted to physical attacks. Characters join and leave the party frequently, as dictated by the plot; the party may contain up to four active combatants. Story progression and overworld exploration is linear; dungeons are usually fairly complex and maze-like. Final Zone II - A shoot-'em-up in which the player controls a soldier on some levels and vehicle on other levels. As a soldier the player dons a "New Age Power Suit" and has a choice of playing several different characters, though it is only a one player game. The object of the game is to fight an enemy army led by "ZOD,", and killed some of the player's commando friends, and there are various armaments and shields the player can pick up along the way. Lords of the Rising Sun - A strategy game set in 12th century Japan, where, after the player's father has been murdered, the player sets out on a quest to become Shogun to restore the honor of their family. Troops will be moved through the big map of Japan and fight enemies in action sequences, such as a Gauntlet-like fortress attack or defending against a Ninja assassin. If two troops collide, a battle might ensue in which the player will have to use all of their strategical wits to guide their men to victory. Splash Lake - A puzzle game in which each round consists of a single screen play area composed of tiles suspended over a lake. The player controls an Ostrich that can crack the tiles and cause them to fall into the water. The goal is to use this ability to make all the bad guys on the screen fall into the water.
Can we stick World Court Tennis in there since we're recognizing the greatness that is Final Lap Twin? THANK YOU for mentioning the Crush games, I played those for hours. Wish I still had my TG-16. Also, if I can chime in SNES drunk: Chew Man Fu Flash Hiders (ok, it's a LITTLE goofy) Legend of Hero Tonma (Ninja Spirit for the younger kids) Parasol Stars Silent Debuggers Just trying to tidy up the list with the most fun stuff to play.
YES! you covered all my favorite classics from my childhood. Glad to have grown up with turbo grafx 16, my favorites are Splatterhouse, Ninja spirit, Legendary axe 1 , Bonks adventure, I liked Keith Courage but I never finished that damn game its tough
Man, played a bunch of these over the years thanks to re-releases on the Wii and PS3 (on the Japanese PSN, Sony had PCE titles as the third line of "Classics" alongside their digital PSOne and PS2 games for download. I swear, making a fake JP region account for that system should've been mandatory - so much great stuff available to play thanks to that having no region lock). Always a treat to see someone show some love for titles like Shockman, Lords of Thunder and Soldier Blade :) Great list, dude!
Love every single game you mentioned here!! The sounds that come out of the TG16 are so original and nostalgic. Just last night I was playing a lot of Blazing Lazers and Air Zonk attempting to beat them. Came close on Air Zonk, but I struggle on level 5 of Blazing Lazers still. Great video, brother!
Had a lot of fun playing the TG16 at a friend's house way back in the day, and funny enough the three games I remember most you mentioned in this video. Bonk, Bomberman, and my personal fave co-oping Shockman was so much fun. Great vid as always!
graphics and sound as good as the snes, yet came out 4 years earlier. The problem was it was too expensive for the US and Europe. like the neo geo. The expensive TurboGFX did well in Japan since in 1987 Japan was relatively rich. But odd to think that at the same time Amigas and Ataris were selling well in Europe at the same high prices. Europe consumers were more tuned into computers, they didn't really know what consoles were until the cheaper MD and SNES came.
I saw it getting played in a store when it first came out. I thought it looked so cool so I told a friend maybe I can convince the parental to get me one. Then someone said it was seven hundred bucks. I then laughed and said there goes that plan.
I just picked up Super Air Zonk on your recommendation and look forward to playing it. Formation Armed F is a great shooter based upon a 1988 arcade game that has captured the gameplay of the arcade well. Enjoyed your video, well done.
Lords of Thunder was my first Turbografx game. I scooped it up on the Wii virtual console after hearing how good the soundtrack was and it made me a BELIEVER, holy shit. I'm sad I missed out on a lot of these gems, but I'm really looking forward to the mini console coming out so I can finally experience a bunch of these! Great video, by the way. Really well-edited and you summed up your points on each game very succinctly :)
Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu is a must-play. It doesn't do anything crazy, but it does everything it sets out to do really, really well. Great graphics, good tunes, and tight controls.
One of my favorite TG16 games was Parasol Stars: The Story of Bubble Bobble 3 My first experience with it was playing it on an NES emulator, then I got the Gameboy version. I'm glad it's been announced for the TG16 mini.
Im so glad you mentioned the Bonk series! I didn’t know there were so many other Bonk games. I beat Super Bonk on the SNES and fell in love, it was an extremely fun game with original and fun pixel art!
The Turbografx never came to my country back in the day, but I would read about it in EGM and Gamefan. Years later I have played alot of the games through an emulator. For me Dragons Curse was the best overall game on the Turbografx, and as much as I loved Blazing Lazers (Gunhead) I liked Soldier Blade a little bit more. SB had awesome Hu Card music too :) The Arcade card made some incredible ports on the Super CD2 as well and I just feel if more games were released in the west the Turbo-Duo could have give the Genesis and Snes a run for their money. Rondo of Blood is also an awesome game. Great music! Thanks for this video :) Any chance you could do videos on other gaming systems like FM Towns Marty X68000 etc?
I remember a rpg/racing style game called final lap or something to that effect. They had some really neat ideas at that point that really set themselves apart but I suppose the turbo just wasn’t accessible enough (or have the backing) to push on. Great video.
I know it has been a while, but you are on target. Final Lap Twin had a RPG mode where you traveled the world Dirt Track racing, upgrading your car, and random encounters were races. The "Dad" in the game I always thought looked like Hulk Hogan.
No, I think you nailed it. I can't think of anything you missed. I don't know what filters you are using, but all your videos always look better than I remember them...
That sure is a killer selection! The only essential game you've missed was Dragon's Curse, which is Hudson's *superior* version of Wonder Boy III, but yeah, other than that one these are pretty much all the must play titles for beginners in the TurboGrafx's library, but of course there are tons more great games on the system that people should get to after playing these... Some of them include the fighting games on the system, sure the PCE wasn't exactly known for its fighters, but it has a fair few which are pretty competent, if not outright great! There's obviously Street Fighter II, which is good in any of its 16 bit console incarnations and you can't go wrong with any of them, and then there's Asuka 120% Maxima Burning Fest which might just be the best fighter on the system, even with Street Fighter in there! The thing about Street Fighter and Asuka 120% that sets them apart from the other fighters on the system is that neither of them requires the Arcade Card (which was an expensive 2MB RAM expansion for the CD unit), whereas pretty much every other (good) fighter on the system does... But still, 2 extra megs mean that they could make near arcade-quality fighters on the system! Which include World Heroes 2, Ryuuko no Ken (Art of Fighting), Garou Densetsu 2 and Garou Densetsu Special, all of which are pretty damn close to their Neo Geo counterparts and totally wipe the floor with their SNES and MD counterparts! Other than Fighters the system also has the best version of Cotton, Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu, Star Parodier (Star Soldier's answer to Parodius), some neat Sega ports like Space Harrier, Outrun and After Burner II (The latter is perhaps the best 16 bit version), and of course, the Konami shooters, you know the ones, Gradius 1 and 2 (the 2nd one is on CD and it RULES!), Detana TwinBee (This game is Beautiful!), Parodius Da and Salamander...
hmmm..i might have to disagree with u here senpai....the tg16 version of wonderboy 3 was no better than the sega master system version. honestly i was disappointed only in the sense that i expected the tg16 to blow away the sms version. as far as the sega system goes....wonder boy 3 is a defining system title, on the short list of best titles for sega. on the tg16, it loses alot of luster and is honestly a mid tier port. although we disagree on this small issue..the third paragraph of ur post is nothing but truth!!!!! i would argue that space harrier is better on the tg16 (since the genesis version is a weak sauce SEQUEL to the original) and as far as i am concerned after burner on the tg16 is definitive for the era (genesis version has downright broken controls). arguments can be made for either version of outrun...but the tg16 take is an admirable effort. Gradius, twinbee, the og parodiuus, and salamander are nothing short of AWESOME ports. i might give the salamander NES version the win for nostalgia and some extras thrown here and there...but the TG16 version of that game is NOTHING to scoff at and is a competent port and arguably the choice for shooter heads in the sense that its slightly the fastest version in terms of game speed. Def the version for hardcore score peeps.
While it's true that Wonder Boy 3 is one of the better SMS games (if not the best) that doesn't mean the TG-16 version isn't superior... Sure, the graphics may not be that big of a step up, and the gameplay is pretty much exactly the same, but the TG-16 has 2 major advantages over the SMS original: It runs at 60 fps whereas the SMS original runs at 30 fps (25 in PAL regions) which means the Turbo version scrolls a bit smoother and is slightly more responsive, and the soundtrack in the Turbo version is the best one by a wide margin! And that is including the HD remake's soundtrack! Heck, the sound in general is far superior on the Turbo, for one it doesn't cut out half of the instrumentation whenever sound effects need to be played (all thanks to it having more sound channels) and the sound effects themselves are a lot more varied and interesting-sounding! They can use a lot of different waveforms to synthesise their sound effects with after all... Honestly, in my opinion, the only reason anyone would ever have pick the SMS version over the TG-16 one is nostalgia... The only other argument I've seen in the SMS's favour was "The character designs are better", which is a subjective thing that I can respect, but even that argument is flawed, because you know, the overwhelming majority of the character designs are exactly the same between the two versions, except they have more shading on the TurboGrafx so they look better in there... Not to discredit the SMS original, as it is still worth playing, but calling it "better than the TG-16 one" is just not right... To be fair, the whole "better sound" argument is just as subjective as the character designs one, but that doesn't change the fact that sound effects don't clip-out the instrumentation in the Turbo version...
Don't know about best, but there was a tennis game that had an RPG option where you could fight random tennis matches to get money, buy better tennis gear, and seek out bosses. I really enjoyed that back in the day.
Mine too. Loved the Dungeon Explorer games. The music is still epic. The TG-16 version looks and sounds better than the SFC version, which is called, uh, Magical Beans.
B00M, there it is. How can you miss one of the best Gauntlet style games ever made. Essential for any PCE collection. And if your big on the CD quality music, play the sequel.
1:46 So that's where the Frank transformation sequence from Pat the NES Punk's Flea Market Madness series comes from! ruclips.net/video/-kX502TaD8E/видео.html
I was the only kid I knew who had one of these growing up - it was more or less a hand-me-down by way of a Christmas present from my older cousin, but it was super cool having a system no one else had. The only problem was that my mom GAVE IT AWAY when I got an SNES the next Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I gotta say i was pretty let down when i picked up the TB16 and Keith Courage was my intro to it. Fortunately i had JJ & Jeff to at least get me through to my RType purchase!
Nice to see the Turbografx getting some love on your channel ! As for titles left out to spite me (^_^), the Turbo CD edition of Loom (Lucasfilm adventure classic) and Compile's Spriggan (shmup similar to MUSHA) are also well worth checking out. Additionally Ys IV has a full fan translation, and is different (and widely considered superior) to the SNES version.
My dad: spends months on Blazing Lazers, and no matter what, can't get past the fourth level. Me: finally decides to play the game... gets to the 7th level my first try. My dad was... Annoyed. Lol. Ah... Memoires.
Oh man next time please do the intro with tuuuurbo drunk! That will be awesone! And yeah my favorite game is castlevania rondo of blood! That game blow my mind on nintendo wii! Nice video as always!
With people no longer able to add Wii points to their account anymore, Nintendo should really let people select whatever game they want, regardless of points, since the shop's going to close next year anyway. That just shuts people out who are unaware of what's happening with the Wii, but with the Switch being a big deal nowadays, what do you expect, I guess.
My guy! This is the comment I was looking for! I literally had all three of these games, and final lap twin was such a fun play through for me! I searched this completely blacked out dark cave for hidden items in the over world map for hours finally finding some racing glove upgrade haha! Beating that game was so satisfying because it was the only game of its kind. An RPG racing game?! I was blown away.
The Turbo Express is AWESOME!!! Portably play the literal EXACT same games as your home console? Almost UNIMAGINABLE at the time, and a real money saver, to boot!!! I love my Turbo Express!!!
I recently completed the Turbo chip (HuCard) set. I need 11 more games to finish the CD set... someday I’ll get there. This was a good list, but you should have mentioned Dungeon Explorer I and II those are unique entries in the series. Bloody Wolf is worth a mention, as are CraterMaze, Chew Man Fu, Cadash (even though it has a Genesis port, this is the only port where you can play all 4 classes), Dead Moon, JJ and Jeff, Legend of Hero Tonma, World Court Tennis and Final Lap Twin (which both have an RPG mode), Sinistron, Veigues Tactical Gladiator, and even World Class Baseball is a fun little arcadey baseball game.
Blazing Lasers, Castlevania-Rondo of Blood, and Devils Crush are hands down the best games on this system. Honestly, I’d be perfectly happy with a system that could play all three and just owning those games with no others would make me quite content!
Air Zonk forever! Even though it never got released where I live, I brought one over from my trips to Japan and it's an amazing little system. I'd love to get a TurboExpress one day so I can play Air Zonk, Blazing Lazers or Alien Crush in the train though.
The only complaint I have about Ninja Spirit is if you got powered up it could get a bit choppy or flicker. That game could really do with a modern remake with some beefy graphics, a lot of other games are being redone (see: Ghosts and Goblins).
Dungeon Explorer and Parasol Stars both deserve to be on this list. The TG16 was a great little console that was criminally underrated back in its day, no thanks to the terrible marketing for it in North America.
F*ck yeah, my top 5 must play non-CD games -Bonks Revenge -Soldier Blade -Bomberman 94 -Air Zonk -Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu Also, speaking of graphics, I would argue the PC Engine "Super CD" format was ahead of both the SNES and Mega Drive, although, yeah, the original PC Engine was like a NES with 16 bit sprites and a lot more colors....and the original CD format was a tad better.
You know what's interesting? The only thing the SCD added was RAM, and it wasn't even that much more RAM than the stock SNES had... Everything is still being processed by the same 8 bit CPU and all the other specs are still the same, no extra sprites, no extra layers, no nothing... So you know, the "NES with 16 bit sprites and a lot more colours" you just described is totally capable of being ahead of the SNES and MD even without the CD ;3 I mean, the graphic capabilities don't change from one format to the next, it's all a matter of how devs worked with what they had... Although to be fair, the CD did allow them to store a lot more graphics than a cart could...
Honestly, in the last few years I've just been falling in love with the TurboGrafix library. Ys blew me away when I first played it, Bonk is just pure fun, I've even started to discover new favorites. It supported less, but larger sprites and had more onscreen colors than the Genesis. It helds its own fairly well.
TG-16 graphics always struck me as having bolder colors.
Well said! If it weren't overpriced and bad marketing then everyone who bought snes or megadrive would've bought this system.
It's interesting to note that this was Sega Genesis/MegaDrive biggest competition before the SNES came out in the U.S. And we all know how that ends.

TurboGrafx-16:
Cratermaze - A puzzle game in which each stage consists of a maze filled with various enemies and items.
TurboGrafx-CD:
Buster Bros.
Great comment, thanks
You're welcome! These aren't super expensive either, as they can be gotten for less than $40 I recall.
Can we stick World Court Tennis in there since we're recognizing the greatness that is Final Lap Twin? THANK YOU for mentioning the Crush games, I played those for hours. Wish I still had my TG-16.
Also, if I can chime in SNES drunk:
Chew Man Fu
Flash Hiders (ok, it's a LITTLE goofy)
Legend of Hero Tonma (Ninja Spirit for the younger kids)
Parasol Stars
Silent Debuggers
Just trying to tidy up the list with the most fun stuff to play.
Cosmic Fantasy 2.. Totally forgot about that one. I used to have it. Man. Memories.
Thanks for the recommendations
Veigues Tactical Gladiator! I played this game for hours with my brother. Your character gets so overpowered later in the game, it's so rad
That is probably the hardest game on the system
Alien/Devil's Crush were two of my favourites. Incredible music!
Love your picks. Ys Book I & II, Military Madness, Blazing Lazers, Legendary Axe.... This system had so many amazing early titles.
Aero Blasters is another a fantastic shoot-em-up arcade port worth mentioning. It's also on the Genesis as Air Buster.
YES! you covered all my favorite classics from my childhood.
Always a treat to see someone show some love for titles like Shockman, Lords of Thunder and Soldier Blade :) Great list, dude!
wait what? Sony had games other than there own on PSN? What the heck?!
I only struggle on Area 9 (the final level) of GunHed (the same game as Blazing Lazers). Area 5 is actually pretty easy.
Your reviews are always so enjoyable to watch. Thanks a lot for making these great videos.
Thanks for taking the time to watch
Had a lot of fun playing the TG16 at a friend's house way back in the day, and funny enough the three games I remember most you mentioned in this video. Bonk, Bomberman, and my personal fave co-oping Shockman was so much fun. Great vid as always!
An amazing underappreciated system.
Definitely underappreciated. I'm not familiar with it at all, besides on RUclips.
It was kool. I played bonks but system was 2 much money
graphics and sound as good as the snes, yet came out 4 years earlier.
Very much. My best friend as a kid had one along with the cd system and I would loan him my SNES for his Turbo. I loved it.
Awesome!!! Love the Turbo GrafX ! Definition of the pinnacle of retro gaming! Thanxx! Loved the video
So happy we have the Mini coming next year!
I just picked up Super Air Zonk on your recommendation and look forward to playing it. Formation Armed F is a great shooter based upon a 1988 arcade game that has captured the gameplay of the arcade well. Enjoyed your video, well done.
Another great vid. Rondo of Blood is AWESOME :-)
Agreed.... Jackie was much better than any Bonk game imo...
Graham Bell GREAT game indeed!
*The NES copy is expensive too!*
Haha great vid, and you featured most of my fave games! Shout out to Spriggan though (Compile) which you left out DELIBERATELY to spite me :(
One of my favorite TG16 games was Parasol Stars: The Story of Bubble Bobble 3
My first experience with it was playing it on an NES emulator, then I got the Gameboy version. I'm glad it's been announced for the TG16 mini.
Probably your most appropriately titled video that i can recall .... Mad Love for Hudson, NEC, and the Turboooooo! 😻
Had a turbografx as a kid. Dead moon and Impossimole were my two favorites.
Dungeon Explorer, Moto Roader, Vigilante, Bloody Wolf, and a game where you control a power ranger type character were also awesome
Yes I'm glad your showing turbografx love I hope you review more game from it and super CD games as well 😁
i love all these videos- it shows how many forgotten games are good. thanks man!
Military Madness stole scores of weekends from me as a kid. Simple, yet surprisingly deep and addictive strategy goodness
I said the same exact thing when I watched the video
Watching this channel always makes me wanna have a great rest of my day
Dungeon Explorer.
Highly underrated game.
Loved this game and played it to death. I had a turbo grafix and pretty much all of the American released games sadly I sold it all in the 90s 😭
The music alone is worth the price of admission.
Hell yeah
Plus The Super CD Dungeon Explorer II. this is another great one!
Legendary axe and Bomberman '93 are awesome games. Thanks for showing them some love.
You definitely missed Parasol Stars. That's probably my favorite game on the TG16.
SB had awesome Hu Card music too :)
The Arcade card made some incredible ports on the Super CD2 as well and I just feel if more games were released in the west the Turbo-Duo could have give the Genesis and Snes a run for their money. Rondo of Blood is also an awesome game. Great music! Thanks for this video :) Any chance you could do videos on other gaming systems like FM Towns Marty X68000 etc?
Soldier Blade just kicks so much ass... I can't help but speed to the Operation 6 music when I listen in the car (oops).
My friends and I played countless hours of Blazing Lasers back in the day
I remember a rpg/racing style game called final lap or something to that effect.
Nope, you covered my favorites and then some. Thank you for this awesome video
It's a shame the TG16 got squeezed out and overshadowed by the competition.
No, I think you nailed it. I can't think of anything you missed. I don't know what filters you are using, but all your videos always look better than I remember them...
It's just the Retroarch emulator + OBS
Love your work man never stop!
I just recently bought a Turbo Grafx 16 console. I was a big Sega and Super Nintendo guy myself back in the day. Thanks for the share.
Great comment, thanks
No problem! Thanks for replying ^^
Asuka 120% rules
hmmm..i might have to disagree with u here senpai....the tg16 version of wonderboy 3 was no better than the sega master system version. honestly i was disappointed only in the sense that i expected the tg16 to blow away the sms version. as far as the sega system goes....wonder boy 3 is a defining system title, on the short list of best titles for sega. on the tg16, it loses alot of luster and is honestly a mid tier port.
although we disagree on this small issue..the third paragraph of ur post is nothing but truth!!!!! i would argue that space harrier is better on the tg16 (since the genesis version is a weak sauce SEQUEL to the original) and as far as i am concerned after burner on the tg16 is definitive for the era (genesis version has downright broken controls). arguments can be made for either version of outrun...but the tg16 take is an admirable effort.
My favorite system of all time,I still play it daily! 💯
Im so excited they are making a mini turbografx 16 . look it up people
The games are watered down compared to the SNES if you discount the shooters.
This will be the perfect list to try and find TurboGrafx games. Thanks a million, bud
Thanks for watching
Don't know about best, but there was a tennis game that had an RPG option where you could fight random tennis matches to get money, buy better tennis gear, and seek out bosses. I really enjoyed that back in the day.
World Court Tennis :)
@@deionbeeldenstormer7498 That's it! Man, I'd grind so much just to afford the next tier of... sweatbands I think? It's been a long time...
This is my favorite series from you
Also Dungeon Explorer should have got a mention I think. Thanks for missing MY GAME!
serene.velocity I feel you bro, it's my favorite game too :D
Yeah, Dungeon Explorer 1 and 2 are certainly my favorites. I mean sure it's a Gauntlet clone, but the music is far more awesome.
Mine too. Loved the Dungeon Explorer games. The music is still epic. The TG-16 version looks and sounds better than the SFC version, which is called, uh, Magical Beans.
Loved playing DE with a couple friends. Motoroader was another fun "rowdy group of friends" game
B00M, there it is. How can you miss one of the best Gauntlet style games ever made. Essential for any PCE collection. And if your big on the CD quality music, play the sequel.
Still have my TG16 and it works flawlessly. Have adventure island , all the bonks , both Alien Crush and Devils crush and more. Love it.
I remember in 94 when i got my 1st Turbo..at a yard sale for $50...
That Castlevania Rondo of Blood is so underrated! Great video.
1:46 So that's where the Frank transformation sequence from Pat the NES Punk's Flea Market Madness series comes from!
ruclips.net/video/-kX502TaD8E/видео.html
LHCGreg I had the same realization!
Keith courage was awesome ; I had a turbo graphx 16 😁
My brother got a Jaguar for Christmas. I convinced him to return it and get the Turbo. Best decision ever.
Avner Chaim Gate of Thunder and Lords of Thunder were my 2 favorites.
I gotta say i was pretty let down when i picked up the TB16 and Keith Courage was my intro to it. Fortunately i had JJ & Jeff to at least get me through to my RType purchase!
Love your videos man!! I'm glad these games don't get lost to time
Best soundtrack of its time... Dungeon Explorer!
Annoyed. Lol.
Ah... Memoires.
As stated above my dad was addicted to the slot machines on JJ and Jeff..Weird freaking game and I'm glad we beat it together
Pretty short memoir.
"I'm sure I deliberately missed YOUR favorite game, just to spite you" hahaha I got a good laugh out of that one!
Oh man next time please do the intro with tuuuurbo drunk! That will be awesone! And yeah my favorite game is castlevania rondo of blood! That game blow my mind on nintendo wii! Nice video as always!
Nice ‘gar profile pic. 👍
same I love rondo, by far the best castlevania game ever imo (I havent played sotn tho so I could be wrong)
PCEEEEEEEEEEEEDRUNK
Great video! only thing to add imo is Bloody Wolf
John B aka Smooth Chocolate you can get on the Wii u
As usual, extremely solid and well made video. Really like the look of the Legendary Axe games, might have to emulate them!
Thanks for taking the time to watch
06:22 Neutopia 1 came out 2 years before Zelda Link to the Past. It looks obvious that Link to the Past copied Neutopia, not the other way around.
When did Zelda come out for the NES?? BOom. Mic drop
Awww Splatterhouse. I was the only kid on my block with the Turbografx-16 and I loved that game. The gore was crazy for back then.
Final Lap twin was amazing with its quest mode. Also Jackie Chans adventures and Yo Bro
Dude. JACKIE CHAN!! Love that one..
I love your videos, such a underrated channel. I hope you get more subs because I want you to keep making videos. I'm selfish.
It's 2018 , and I still have the this hand held game system, and with some games. I love it because I watched TV on it as it was not mentioned here. 👍
The Turbo Express is AWESOME!!! Portably play the literal EXACT same games as your home console? Almost UNIMAGINABLE at the time, and a real money saver, to boot!!! I love my Turbo Express!!!
Yes!! Thank you so much. Its the video I didn't know I've been wanting.
God I hope we get either a collection or a "classic" for turbo games.
Neutopia has some really cool music.
Also, Zelda clones are awesome!
"i'm going to avoid ports," 5 seconds later, "this bomberman is one of the best ports"
R-Type was another port but one of the best ones and it was essentially a clone of the arcade and I think they added an extra level, too.
I couldn't agree more with you about Blazing Lazers. That game still holds up today.
Bloody Wolf is a great game for the Turbo
Splatterhouse is my most favorite game ever. I found out about it like a years ago, and i still play it
Bonks revenge and r-type were and still are awesome
Blazing Lasers, Castlevania-Rondo of Blood, and Devils Crush are hands down the best games on this system. Honestly, I’d be perfectly happy with a system that could play all three and just owning those games with no others would make me quite content!
Best game is rondo of blood. You didn't mention the arcade card and sapphire :p
Devil's Crush was ported to the Sega Megadrive/Genesis, retitled Dragon's Fury (Devil Crash MD in Japan).
Bring on the mini!!!
Yea i know right i want one so bad
Air Zonk forever!
Even though it never got released where I live, I brought one over from my trips to Japan and it's an amazing little system. I'd love to get a TurboExpress one day so I can play Air Zonk, Blazing Lazers or Alien Crush in the train though.
“Ninja Spirit” reminds me most of “Legend of Kage” for the NES.
F*ck yeah, my top 5 must play non-CD games
-Bonks Revenge
-Soldier Blade
-Bomberman 94
-Air Zonk
-Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu
Also, speaking of graphics, I would argue the PC Engine "Super CD" format was ahead of both the SNES and Mega Drive, although, yeah, the original PC Engine was like a NES with 16 bit sprites and a lot more colors....and the original CD format was a tad better.
You know what's interesting? The only thing the SCD added was RAM, and it wasn't even that much more RAM than the stock SNES had...
Everything is still being processed by the same 8 bit CPU and all the other specs are still the same, no extra sprites, no extra layers, no nothing...
So you know, the "NES with 16 bit sprites and a lot more colours" you just described is totally capable of being ahead of the SNES and MD even without the CD ;3
I mean, the graphic capabilities don't change from one format to the next, it's all a matter of how devs worked with what they had... Although to be fair, the CD did allow them to store a lot more graphics than a cart could...
Really good video. Trying to get more into NEC stuff having played Ys and Castlevania on CD, and you really convinced me
