    I'm not aware of any Henry with a .452 bore. You'll have to use a custom neck sizing die with a cast bullet to your bore's dimensions.

    Interesting adapter, I wasn't aware such a thing existed. Groups well from a rest too. Thanks for this one, cheers!

    I've had one of those adapters for years. It does indeed work. I've had no issues firing it or with it jamming up. However, I have a MKIV Martini-Henry. They tend to have larger bores. It is only accurate when I use .468 diameter projectiles. When using the 45 colt adapter, there is no accuracy to speak of. The bullets are just too small in diameter. I'm surprised it is even moderately accurate in your earlier Martini-Henry. What diameter projectiles do you use for your full size rounds?

      I don’t have any full size rounds. I just use the adapters.

    There's a strange report when fired, or am I just hearing things? Very interesting video, thank you.

      It may be an echo off the trees surrounding the range. Check out my latest short and video to see the trees

      I suspect the bullet is not in contact (or very loosely) with the rifling.

    I have the adapter and shot blackpowder with lead projectile. Same thing, it shot high and I had to aim like you. I wonder if anyone has a reason as to why and if shooting at 100 meters is better

      Well 50 yards is most likely at the top of the arc for the bullet as it travels down range.

      Factory .577/450 was what, 480gr bullet @ about 1300fps? The .45 LC is ... 255gr @ about 1000fps (from a 5" barrel)? Who knows what the velocity is out of a rifle barrel, but the 45LC is also commonly used in lever guns so I bet it has a powder to take advantage of at least some extra length.

    Helo. Martini Henry its not for black powder? because you shoot smokless powder bullet?

    • @BulletsandButtons
      @BulletsandButtons  3 месяца назад

      Yes it is a black powder firearm. The adapter enables you to shoot pistol bullets out of it.

    • @JosipRadnik1
      @JosipRadnik1 3 месяца назад +1

      .45 Long Colt originally was a black powder cartridge too. Of course, modern .45 LC cartridges are smokeless now but the specs roughly are the same. That doesn't mean that I would fire any contemporary smokeless .45 LC cartridge out of any original 1870's Colt though, but still: they are close. That said, I think it goes without saying that the original 577-45 martini henry round was much more powerful than the original .45 LC. And since the modern .45 LC is modeled after the origninal - just with smokeless powder instead - it probably won't overburden the rifle.

      I do plan to reload these with BP. Granted they may not have the “firm push” into the shoulder as a real round, but at least it is being fired. Thanks for the comments!!

    • @TheOnebigelf

      Easy fix for that and the manufacturer should do it. Drill and tap the edge of the adapter for a 4-40 screw. If it gets stuck all you have to do is thread in a screw as a grip to pull the adapter. The rim is thin, you only get 1-2 threads, but it doesnt take much. The same adapter is available in 45acp, which is far cheaper and easier to get, although 45lc is cheap and easy to reload. It shoots high because the LC bullet is about 250gr and the 577/450 is 480gr.
