That's a gorgeous color. Lots of modern homes go dark/white exterior mix, this would compliment that very well.
Thank you.
Fantastic video!! I just accidentally dripped paint all over my beautiful, already stained, driveway and entryway and cleaned it up with a toothbrush. Everywhere that I cleaned washed away some of the stain and now there are spots everywhere, so I’m looking for videos on how to repair it. Your video is the best I’ve seen out of all of them. Great job!!
Excellent video guys! Thank you so much!! I’m doing a small front walk and porch and now I feel much more confident!
You can do it!
Informative. Thanks for doing the video.
Great video we purchased the mission Brown as well and liked the results but some areas came out lighter than others on our concrete; you mentioned you were going to use a second acid color to offset the mission Brown, please let us know which color it was maybe it will help us darken our lighter areas? Thank u!
Hello, great video!
Question, why did you chose that particular sealer and not the same brand of the stain color? I'm still researching for my project. Thanks for your time.
That sealer was recommended to us as a better product.
What do you recommend me
Hi, I live in Spain and hope to do this on my patio. I don’t see a link to find the products you have used so I can (hopefully) find them in Europe. Thank you so much for your videos. I have subscribed and will check out more. Hope you are both well. Kindly Mo
Great job you both. What is the commercial name of the color you applied?
Thank you, The color is mission brown and all the products we used on this project are listed in the description under the video. Just click on show more.
Hey DIY community, I’d like to know whether it’s a good idea to stain a brushed concrete pool patio. And whether I can go with reactive or nonreactive acid staining?
This is an excellent tutorial. How did you know how much stain to purchase (square footage)?
yes the manufacturer gives recommended square footage.
Awsome job looks Beautiful!
Good job on the work and the video...
Thank you so much for this tutorial. How many gallons of acid you used? my patio is similar size. Also, can the ammonia be yellow? Not sure if only the clear ones are permitted - lastly, the sprayer is $70 - is there a cheaper option?
one gallon of stain will probably due. Here is the link for a cheaper sprayer. amzn.to/3bZ9Rlw . clear ammonia for sure.
Great job!!! It looks like leather. Can you post the colors you used?
In the description
I see a stiff-bristle scrub brush in your product list, but I'm not seeing the small soft-bristle bush you are using to brush in the stain.
Thanks for a deep and motivating discussion on this topic. What if the color is just not what it turned out to be, if you didn’t neutralize it yet and wanted to apply another color, would that be possible to see if it’s closer to what’s envisioned. Assuming of course the different colors are similar and not totally different.
Good question! Yes you can add more color or let it sit longer before neutralizing.
@@KevinCoyaselfreliantlife thanks for your response. Let’s see
@@KevinCoyaselfreliantlife sorry one more question, how long after neutralizing when you can use it, move furniture back on it.
@@beebee242 Are you going to seal it? It will look great ! if so make sure the concrete is dry before you do or it could cause the sealer to fog or get a milky cloudy finish. Otherwise when the floor is dry.
I notice some people just spray stain and then seal it whereas some spray stain and neutralize it with baking soda and scrub the stain and rinse with water before sealing it. Does both work?
Great job!!! Did you dilute the ammonia?
Yes I did one cup per gallon of water.
Also what do you do with excess stain in the sprayer? What’s the best way to dispose of that?
we poured it back in the jug.
Will this work on stamped concrete also?
as long as it is untreated.
What home improvement store carry these products?
None that I'm aware of. These are specialty products. I have provided links in the description just below the video.
You did a great job!! Did you dilute the stain or did you use it straight? Thanks for any info .
Thank you. we used it straight out of the jug.
looks awesome! what color and stain did you use?
found your link thanks
Can I use "Lemon Ammonia" instead of the clear ammonia?
I would not if it is not clear in color.
Did you not have to use an etching liquid first?
after cleaning the slab the stain is the etching liquid.
If you're building a new house can you stain the inside concrete before the framing goes up so the cleaning process isn't so labor intensive?
The main reason we did it after the framing is the concrete needs to cure for at least 30 days before you can stain it. so we built the shell out while we were waiting for it to cure.
@@KevinCoyaselfreliantlife right after I commented you mentioned waiting 30 days in the video 😂 Would you have any advice if we plan on our house going up and finished within a months time? Can you still stain it when its fresh or does that not work?
I would be concerned that the construction process would damage the finish. Whether it's debris stuck in workers shoes or dropped tools or materials there are a lot of opportunities to scar the flooring.
About what would you charge to do that job, including supplies?
$5 a square foot.
Kevin Coy Thanks!
What do you do if the concrete is not accepting the stain? We have stained the concrete, but there are alot of places, the stain sat on top of the concrete and did not go into the concrete. It's fairly new concrete only about 1 year old. We used Eagle acid stain and prepped just like they said, some of the concrete stained just like it should have and some did not.
We did try adding more stain a second time, but it did not help. It sits right on top.
After first coat I get some white spots here and there. What's the reason and how to fix it ?. Thanks.
It sounds like a little moisture. I would wait a day or two. It is vital that the concrete is dry. You may need to remove and replace those spots.
@@KevinCoyaselfreliantlife HI Kevin. But let me ask. How is that posibke when wetting the floor before is i suggestion. Thanks.
Excuse me how much is the price for that job
About 50 cents a square foot.
👍👍
Why not grind before applying stain?
I did not want that smooth of a finish.
Any odor- would it be ok for a basement floor
Not really any odor from the stain but the sealer had an odor. I would ventilate the area but basements are ok.
I put him sealer and the floor turned white?????
I'm going to guess the floor was not dry enough.
Kevin Coy 3 day enough
It depends on how wet and how much humidity in the air.
Kevin Coy It is a basement u is very cold
machine and liquid
Help me please
See what it looks like in a day.
You may need to strip it off and start over.
Kevin Coy with what I do
I would talk to the product manufacturer or a local janitorial company that does floor maintenance.
Kevin Coy I'm talking to the product
great job, sexy couple! well one of you! lol thanks.
that's not how to powerwash concrete..
We are not trying to remove the stain. ;)
