    Good common sense knowledge. Keeping a vehicle serviced regularly is key to longer life. I own two vehicles now, a 2004 and a 2005 with over 170000 and 160000 respectively,. And I sold a 1992 that I heard from the new owner is still running with over 300000 miles. Service service service! Thank you for the time and knowledge you share with us. You are a good teacher. I am sharing you're Chanel with all my family and friends.

    Very helpful as we have many of these cars/transmissions at the shop I work at. For the engine oil changes, I always lower my personal cars from the lift just to see a little more engine oil come out for my engine oil changes. Thanks, and excellent sound effects too.

    Great video again. I use tube sealer as well. The trick is to let dry enough that it forms a light skin before snuggling everything up. But gaskets are always best for sure !!

    TY for the common sense of dropping the pan. My F250 6.2l tows 11.2k pounds in the summer cutting pastures. And it still has a dipstick. So I will use a oil extractor and remove what I can from the pan.
    By replenishing the 2 or 3 quarts at a time it may take me a day of driving but once done repeating this maybe three times the original should be 50 percent replaced.
    then xmission will have fresh fluid with fresh additives. Afterwards it may become an annual maintenance item of just extracting 3 quarts and replacing, after the towing season is done for me.

    The two plugs on the truck-SUV pan are the same M12x1.25 thread. They are in reversed positions on the pan. The 14mm hex head plug is the drain plug, and the 6mm hex socket one is for fluid level adjustment.

    • @Sungjuleeyes
      @Sungjuleeyes Год назад

      I agree, thats what I thought. Also draining the fluid from the pan only drains about 20% of total fluid because the remainders are stuck in the torque converter etc. therefore, you need to do more than 7 drain and fills to replace 90% of the total transmission fluid.

    Great advice, thank you! I have 55,000 on my RX350 and I want to perform first time drain and flush very soon. I wonder if there is a procedure to clean the magnets without dropping pan. But based on your advice maybe it is more important to drain and flush to get new fluid in system...less important to spend time removing metal shavings. Do you agree?

    • @repairvehicle
      @repairvehicle  3 года назад

      Metal shavings is the result of lack of lubrication. You cannot clean magnets without removing pan. To remove pan on your lexus, engine with transmission might have to be raised few inches, meaning disconnecting transmission mounts, fuel lines, exhaust system.

      Reinforcement for drain plug requires it to raised up and that's good amount of fluid is still there after it's drained.

    Excellent video and thanks for sharing your opinions and advice. The transmission “filter” more like a strainer really doesn’t need to be changed like you say. One would have to have a catastrophic failure for the trans strainer (filter) to get plugged up. NOTE: Toyota OEM replacement magnets are NOT as strong as the ones which came from factory in Japan...order them to see difference it’s shocking. Ones from Japan easily twice as strong on ALL sides of the magnet

      repairvehicle I have a 2014 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Premium 4WD part-time. Made in Japan. Pan never opened till I did 128k mileage. The 4 magnets that came stock have rounded corners. The OEM Toyota replacement magnets ordered directly through local dealer had a square cut to magnets. Difference was astounding as the ones that came stock were powerful on all sides and the replacements had clearly less power to pickup a lightweight metal object and they were especially weak on the sides of magnet where original were strong on all surfaces/sides of magnet. I should have done a video, I was just so shocked over how weak the Toyota dealership replacement OEM magnets were. Glad I cleaned up the original ones well and saved them.

    I have a 2012 Sienna only has 40000 miles. A couple days ago. I did the transmission oil drain and fill first time. I removed drain plug about one quart oil come out. Then I removed the red transmission tube (Straw) only about 0.7 quart fluid come out. Total fluid volume was only 1.7 quart. It is low compared with transmission oil drain and fill video in other you tube. Then I screw the red tube into oil drain port. keep screw in than I felt very lose. May be the red tube is come lose inside the drain tube. Push red tube up slightly feel some thing is catch it gently but not so sure. Place and tighten the oil drain plug and then add 1.7 quarts of WS fluid. Did not ram up the temperature to check level due to if lose the drain plug again one quart oil is going to come out just like first time I opened it. Test run the car. Transmission runs smoothly. I am not sure if the red tube situated in drain tube normally like this or may be it will float into other part of oil pan. Is this proper concern? Do I have to re-sit red tube or replace oil pan?

    Question about the tran fluid. I have an 08 IS350 with 105K. Looked through all Lexus service records and nothing ever done with tranny fluids. In 2021 (95K miles) there was a recommended trans fluid but was declined by last owner.

    If you just drain the fluid, you're going to get about 2 quarts. There are five more quarts of nasty transmission fluid and filter. A transmission pan and magnets full of metal mud and an old deteriorating gasket that needs to be replaced along with your filter and transmission fluid. If I had a spin on transmission filter, then I wouldn't pull the pan.

    • @repairvehicle
      @repairvehicle  Год назад

      2 quarts? Depends on the vehicle. Not true if applied to all vehicles. If you change your fluid more often then you not going to have anything on magnets
