Dan Marino was the only shocker for me. His QB money and his HBO and CBS money. That family on the side. How stupid was that. For over 10 years you were the face of football to millions every Sunday. How did he think no one would find out?😮
The football players who went broke because of these girls is very true, however, some of these NFL players impregnated these ladies and they owe child support and also some spend millions on cars, mansions and yachts, however, they also owe the IRS lots of tax money and they couldn't save lots of money as well!!
@ He said football players are not financial experts so of course they are going to be conned by their agents and family and friends into handing over their hard earned dollars to be sunk into ventures that all go bust anyway.
Look at Rob Gronkowski. Comes across as not a bright bulb, but he hasn't spent a penny of his NFL money. Living off his NFL gigs and endorsements. Someone taught him the value of money very well. I love Herman Edwards advice when they did the 30 for 30 show on these athletes. All you need is one woman, one house, one car. It's not rocket science.
There are consultants out there who can spot a 'golddigger' in an instant. Wealthy professional athletes mostly do not know how to spot a 'golddigger', therefore it is a necessity to consult with a professional 'golddigger-spotter', who can spot them. Wealthy professional athletes must avoid 'golddiggers' at all costs!
In the late 90's I was on a fishing trip off the Pacific where I met a gentleman who was a big shot financial advisor to sports stars, most of them NFL, NBA, and MLB guys. He told me that 90% of players end-up bust due to lavish spending, employing friends/family from the hood, paternity issues, and ultimately that career ending injury.
The Kosar one was mind blowing as it happened, the guy ostensibly did everything right, and over a decade after he finished playing, the market went bad so his wife took him to the cleaners. The scary thing is that the daughters were apparently more vicious than the wife.
The only thing wasn't Rison was his net worth...Showing Vince Young with a Saskatchewan Rough Riders backdrop is all you need to know how his fairy tale career ended.
I don't feel sorry for any professional athlete that goes broke they make a lot more money than a lot of people will ever see and they just throw it away
A piece needs to be done on how men that met a good women saved and helped them? A good woman will help their man and it'd be great to hear about them!
I spent 23 years in the Military and spent my time in Vietnam Korea and the Middle East and 8 years on a Guided Missile Cruiser homeported in Japan. Maybe I could lend some of these guys some money.
They never think they are going too get old ,and not going too be able too play. Too many houses and vehicles and girls that is just out too have a good time . When the money is gone the girls and friends are too.
I didn't know some of these NFL Players went broke. Failed Marriages, Crooked Financial Advisors, Family, Kids, Friends, Girls, Hangers On, Investing in Car Dealerships, Luxury Cars and Homes and Gambling, Drugs and Alcohol... These guys need to speak with Bobby Bonilla the smartest Athlete in the history of high profile players.
Dishonorable mention, although he wasn't a football player: MIke Tyson. He was flat broke in 2005 after earning nine figures in his boxing career up to that point, and has only begun to recover after his recent "bout" with Jake Paul
Most of the guys who still have money are the offensive lineman. I remember when Terrel Davis played for the Broncos he bought a house and moved his mom into it and swore he wouldn't get married or even have a girlfriend while he was playing. Too many distractions
these football players deserve all the money they get but they can't trust anybody just enjoy your money that you made playing a very tough game your all heroes with great courage
Marino’s story is different than the other bums, he made an investment in a media company and they went bankrupt. He wasn’t out partying doing drugs, drinking, buying cars, jewelry etc….
Lesson to be learned: put your money in CD,s or Treasuries. You won’t get huge interests, but you will never lose your principal: and if you ladder them the right way; you can live off the interest if you have enough money invested.
The sad irony is all these athletes had to do was put their money in high yield CDs or T-Bills. And they could have still lived like kings off the interest alone.
Most young athletes have zero money management skills, they think that payday going to keep coming and end up broke after they've blown all their money.
These guys are young, and many of them have never had anywhere near the kind of money they suddenly get in the pros. Then everybody wants to be their "friend." Even when they do the right thing and hire financial advisors, they sometimes get ripped off like Portis did. It doesn't help that they're in a line of work where one freak injury could ruin their careers.
Mark Stepnoski was a Pitt grad. Played twelve or thirteen years, was his own financial advisor and has never had a job since his retirement from football. Still has his money and his pot in Vancouver, B.C.
Derek Jeter did it best. He didn't marry until he was done with his career. His finances were cut and polished and protected. And he dated some of the hottest women imaginable while he was a player. Winning.
Guys, your football career could be over in a millisecond. If you burn through your cash before the football career is over, I guarantee you won’t have the same friends and pretty girls following you around anymore.
I have no sympathy for Torrell Owens. Never liked him. He was always cocky & arrogant towards others like he was better than everyone else around him. You just gotta love Karma.
Put the blame where it belongs. These guys were treated like kings when they were young. Parents, coaches, teachers, advisers. All treated them like they were superior to everyone else. They actually believed it. Entitled. Able to do whatever they wanted. So crazy that they had such talent and discipline in their sport but were completely devoid of it in their lives. Money is killing ever sport. Ohio State and Michigan just proves the point. Brawling after a game. Why? Because they know the NFL is watching. Money to be had. It is a crime.
That's what OJs problem was - nobody ever said no to him. Bill Russell was the opposite way - he met a girl in college who never heard of him - he was so turned on he married her.
Most teams and the Players Association offer those seminars, but sometimes it a case of in one ear, out the other, or a matter of hubris in which a player thinks the money train will never end.
It’s just inexcusable for these athletes to act this way nowadays. These leagues do everything possible to educate these players on how to be responsible with money. I guess the problem is these guys are 20-24 years old. And know better than everyone else.
A lot of these athletes grow up poor or middle class, so when they get the biggest check of their lives, it's hard not to buy all the things you want. I bet you would do the same thing.
I'll never understand spending all your money like there will always be more coming. Do they realize professional athletes don't last into their 40's, except very rare occasions.
Yeah - if you were paying attention at all - nearly every one of these guys - invested a sizable portion of the money they made - it just so happened that they were in bad investments - made by unscrupulous advisors - somehow all of you get that these guys are irresponsible - when in fact the vast majority of them are using their athlete money - to finance a lifetime of financial success - it just turns out that the investments don't work out .

I hate that they use AI to narrate these stories. AI makes obvious factual mistakes and mispronunciations. For the money they paid to create this video, they should have used a human narrator.
If he wants to hold on to his money a great example is the owner of the team. First thing I would do is ask who his financial advisor is and the second would be to contact him.

Dan Marino was the only shocker for me. His QB money and his HBO and CBS money. That family on the side. How stupid was that. For over 10 years you were the face of football to millions every Sunday. How did he think no one would find out?😮
The football players who went broke because of these girls is very true, however, some of these NFL players impregnated these ladies and they owe child support and also some spend millions on cars, mansions and yachts, however, they also owe the IRS lots of tax money and they couldn't save lots of money as well!!
thank you. You're repeating everything that was just said in the video.
In his book "Dark Side of the Game. My Life in the NFL" Tim Green dedicates one whole chapter on why players lose their money It's scary!
Whats he say
@ He said football players are not financial experts so of course they are going to be conned by their agents and family and friends into handing over their hard earned dollars to be sunk into ventures that all go bust anyway.
Look at Rob Gronkowski. Comes across as not a bright bulb, but he hasn't spent a penny of his NFL money. Living off his NFL gigs and endorsements. Someone taught him the value of money very well. I love Herman Edwards advice when they did the 30 for 30 show on these athletes. All you need is one woman, one house, one car. It's not rocket science.
Me know that not real money

There are consultants out there who can spot a 'golddigger' in an instant. Wealthy professional athletes mostly do not know how to spot a 'golddigger', therefore it is a necessity to consult with a professional 'golddigger-spotter', who can spot them. Wealthy professional athletes must avoid 'golddiggers' at all costs!
They love throwing their money around, impressing women, buying things for them.
I know 2 people who's financial advisers wiped them out. It happens all the time, not just to NFL stars.
Facts it's all by design
some of them want to do the smart thing...and they get ripped off by their own trusted people. That's money for you. You got it. Others want it.
I’m questioning how qualified their advisors actually were. Probably Uncle Jim’s neighbor’s kid or something stupid like that.

The Kosar one was mind blowing as it happened, the guy ostensibly did everything right, and over a decade after he finished playing, the market went bad so his wife took him to the cleaners. The scary thing is that the daughters were apparently more vicious than the wife.
Damn I didn't know about kosar and Dan Marino. Crazy!
Chasing the cat…she gone.
So pathetic that these simps wasting their money because they can’t live without pussy
Hey dude you can only drive one car at a time, why so many cars??? Lol
Ha, I know! I was thinking the exact same thing!
Some are fleeced by managers. Not everybody can be Fran Tarkenton who made more in business than football even while he was playing.

Brenda Warner comes to mind.
I spent 23 years in the Military and spent my time in Vietnam Korea and the Middle East and 8 years on a Guided Missile Cruiser homeported in Japan. Maybe I could lend some of these guys some money.
If you have to impress people when you're a NFL athlete, their not your friends.
$19 million means nothing for a NFL player now!😂
And a lot of us will never see money like that in a lifetime, "White privilege" my ass, these clowns are like the demonicrats, and delusional as Obama
They never think they are going too get old ,and not going too be able too play. Too many houses and vehicles and girls that is just out too have a good time . When the money is gone the girls and friends are too.
Most professional athletes end up broke within 5 years after their careers end.
It will be interesting to see how many players blow their NIL money before they even turn pro.
“Sucked Dry”?😂 I’ve been there with a few women, but just minus the money.
Me too.
Most of the guys who still have money are the offensive lineman.
I remember when Terrel Davis played for the Broncos he bought a house and moved his mom into it and swore he wouldn't get married or even have a girlfriend while he was playing. Too many distractions
5:00 - whoa, Young spent $5,000 a week at Cheesecake Factory? Damn dude, at least eat some good food
Owens wasn’t the best looking guy around, but his money was.
these football players deserve all the money they get but they can't trust anybody just enjoy your money that you made playing a very tough game your all heroes with great courage

#1 NFL star most undone by women - Steve McNair
Marino’s story is different than the other bums, he made an investment in a media company and they went bankrupt. He wasn’t out partying doing drugs, drinking, buying cars, jewelry etc….
Another lesson. Don't put all your eggs in one basket
@ This is true but his case wasn’t from him acting like a fool
The same was true of Bernie as well, he took care of family members and when the market went bad, his wife took everything from him.
agreed, and he was not the only one who got burned by bad investments in this video. a cautionary tale for sure.
Lesson to be learned: put your money in CD,s or Treasuries. You won’t get huge interests, but you will never lose your principal: and if you ladder them the right way; you can live off the interest if you have enough money invested.
Wealth is a mindset. But you need the "intentional mind" to accomplish wealth.
The sad irony is all these athletes had to do was put their money in high yield CDs or T-Bills.
And they could have still lived like kings off the interest alone.
That would require common sense. And they do not have any.
And stock and bond index funds
CDs aren't as much fun as Lamborghinis. 😅
Most young athletes have zero money management skills, they think that payday going to keep coming and end up broke after they've blown all their money.
Where do you think the term “ninja rich” comes from??
These guys are young, and many of them have never had anywhere near the kind of money they suddenly get in the pros. Then everybody wants to be their "friend." Even when they do the right thing and hire financial advisors, they sometimes get ripped off like Portis did. It doesn't help that they're in a line of work where one freak injury could ruin their careers.
Marino's stupidity and ignorance are legendary.Incredible that he graduated from Pittsburgh.
No that part makes sense
Mark Stepnoski was a Pitt grad. Played twelve or thirteen years, was his own financial advisor and has never had a job since his retirement from football. Still has his money and his pot in Vancouver, B.C.
Derek Jeter did it best. He didn't marry until he was done with his career. His finances were cut and polished and protected. And he dated some of the hottest women imaginable while he was a player.
Winning.
They all should've studied the life of CAPT. AMERICA roger (the dodger)staubach.
Guys, your football career could be over in a millisecond. If you burn through your cash before the football career is over, I guarantee you won’t have the same friends and pretty girls following you around anymore.
They may have been robbed of their $, but you just robbed my of 23:47! Where tf the chick in the thumbnail? I want my money back
Athletes aren't the only ones suffering this fate.
I have no sympathy for Torrell Owens. Never liked him. He was always cocky & arrogant towards others like he was better than everyone else around him. You just gotta love Karma.
He kept being shifted around to any team that would tolerate him. A real head-case.
He started out OK following Jerry Rice around and was a decent guy. As soon as Jerry left he got screwed up
Rice a Roni was the San Francisco treat right😊😊?
Boss: Here's $35 million. Me: Savings account, rich forever. Athlete: Oooh, a $35 million dollar coat! I'll take it!
Financial advisers are a joke 😂
Watch out for family and Jews I assume
Everyone needs to watch that Herm Edward’s video where he tells the NFL rookies you need the Mr.T starter set.. you only need one chain., one car..
Exactly! They’re all mad when they lose because they want that $100,000,000 NFL contract after college.
Sports betting and NIL money should be banned.
My roommate and friend I guess from old days gave Ohio State football 10 million ! Better spent buy double wides for Appalachian people I think !

Most of women you described would not be interested in these kids.
Hopefully NFL makes a finance course mandatory after they sign a deal with a team.
@@pjpredhomme7699That’s true in some of the cases in this video, but there were plenty of examples of players living as if there was no tomorrow.

If he wants to hold on to his money a great example is the owner of the team. First thing I would do is ask who his financial advisor is and the second would be to contact him.
Now there is a GREAT Idea - and most would be happy to help - unfortunately the culture is such that they consider the owner/ player as being somewhat adversarial - but you certainly have the right idea IMO
