    Well my new friend and fellow "idiot," you have a new subscriber! I cannot begin to tell you HOW MANY times that I've watched this video (and many of your others) and must confess that YOU as the ultimate creator of this bit of video Nirvana are solely responsible for the freshly minted $1100.00 hole in "me" pocket, mate! Not only did your camera work seduce and entice, your narrative also tickled and probed, prodded and yet beguiled until I was compelled by descriptions of jewel like refractions of light and faceting of wristband links whetting my appetite, which was clearly in dire need of quaff and satiation into submission!
    I get mines this Tuesday bra!
    Seriously though, fabulous job with your very sincere and down to earth approach which translates into its own unique brand of sophistication, if that makes any sense?? What the hell, we're addicted to collecting,... watches no less. NOT exactly an inexpensive habit, heh? Keep up the fantastic "influencing" and thanks again for all the time and energy that is obvious in your work or should I say,...passion!
    Ciao for now.....from Bushwick, Brooklyn!

    I honestly thought this was another one of their vintage-inspired Seiko 5 models, this time with the 4R GMT movement. At 1,5k that thing is just silly; typical impulse buy that's sold on after 3-6 months.

  • @khronokraze
    @khronokraze 10 месяцев назад +4

    Saw one in person and , of course, none of the renderings and stock images do the watch justice as seeing it in actuality is so much nicer. Wears great. Just impressed with the overall look.
    I'd be keen to get one.. I'm still wary of 6R based movements based on my prior experiences.
    Will see.. might be just good looking enough to take that chance again.

    Handsome watch, but I'm utterly unconvinced by the bracelet. No micro-adjustments, no half links, and held together with pins? That makes as much sense to me as wearing flip-flops with a tuxedo.

      @thewatchidiot  10 месяцев назад +3

      @ajmarion the 381 is a great watch I absolutely love my 383, I think I could safely say it's my favorite Seiko diver! That said, it can't really be compared to the overall quality of the navigator timer, the bracelet is just worse and it's not limited so I don't think the price nor the price trend of the navigator timer can be compared to that of the MM200 GMT.

    Yeah I can totally see why you love this watch, and the dial finish is looking good as well. Not sure why brands put a matte coat on sunburst dials, it takes away a lot of the dial's character

    • @thewatchidiot
      @thewatchidiot  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah it's one that I've been waiting for for a while! And yeah matte layers on sun burst dials is quite strange so maybe it has something to do with protection? Maybe it's just the way those particular dials are made for mass production

    Nice video ! As you wear it in every lights conditions :
    What can you say about the overall aspect ? Is it a one tint watch ? (One grey)
    Or is it a two tint watch (grey and dark grey ?)
    in general, is the dial look the same grey shade as the case/bezel/bracelet ?

    Looks like a really sick watch, I'm really fond of vintage Seiko too. Surprised I haven't seen more people review it.
    Personally though, the price tag is a little steep. If I were buying a retro GMT, I think I would choose one of the smaller Glycine Airman references over this one, don't know what the quality delta is like though.

    Beautiful watch. Although completely subjective and not true to the original, a black dial with more contrast IMO would be a killer. Tough decision between this watch and the Seiko Alpinist GMT.

    • @thewatchidiot
      @thewatchidiot  10 месяцев назад +3

      A jet black dial on this watch would undoubtedly be an incredible watch and a very tempting one at that! There's always a chance of Seiko releasing different versions of this in the future so anything can happen! Nice one TWI. I love the flying saucer case shape and that bracelet looks like a step up from what I might have expected from the brand at this price point. I'm not usually a fan of friction bezels but as you mention this is quite stiff it should work well for those time zones that are not a 1 hour shift from local and that's quite a big plus in this case. That grey sunburst dial gives great reflections of the hands as well. Lume is clearly not one of the strong points but it's more of a GADA watch so not really so much of an issue. I like it a lot. As usual a great objective review and thanks for sharing.

      Thanks Anthony! Yeah the case and especially the bracelet are a nice upgrade to what usually does I'm glad they're starting to step up!
