      Hi, as I checked the 32GQ950-B on Rtings (if that's the one you have) even though it has an IPS panel and low contrast, the HDR Brightness is over 2x than SDR, so I'd recommend playing on HDR for the games that look good with HDR, AC Mirage is a bit too dark and might be better on SDR on a monitor, yet you can try and see how it looks on yours.

    Final do ano irei comprar minha primeira OLED. Black Friday me aguarda.

    • @DanielZH

      Sim, é verdade, às vezes o HDR é melhor mesmo em um monitor IPS, mas assim que você obtiver o OLED, verá o poder real; Eu recomendo ir com LG C2 se você quiser boa qualidade e não gastar muito dinheiro. e se você quiser obter o C2, obtenha o 55" ou superior, é mais brilhante que os modelos menores.

    Hi Daniel, I own an ASUS VG27AQL1A and mainly play single-player games like God of War, Spider-Man 2, and HFW. While I prefer the colors in SDR, I'm unsure whether to keep HDR enabled due to its higher brightness. Based on RTINGS my monitor has a low contrast ratio, terrible local dimming and is YUV422 in 1440p 120hz with HDR, so should I just keep the HDR off? Thanks.

    • @DanielZH
      @DanielZH  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi, Personally, as the panel is IPS and there's not much of a difference, I'd go with SDR, and the games you mentioned look great on SDR RGB, most monitors are also inaccurate when using PS5 and 120Hz HDR (RGB Range locks to Limited) and overall, in my opinion, SDR is a better choice and use Rtings Color settings to get an accurate output, but HDR can get about 100nits brighter on this monitor if max brightness on SDR isn't enough for you, then HDR is a better option, otherwise I'd personally go with SDR on IPS and for such games you mentioned.

    • @karanvir99
      @karanvir99 9 месяцев назад

      @@DanielZH Thanks for answering! I will stick with SDR. While HDR is brighter, I find that the colors look somewhat washed out, and considering the downsides, I believe I would get diminishing returns by enabling HDR. For single-player and even multiplayer games, SDR seems to be the better choice in my case.

    • @DanielZH
      @DanielZH  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi, thanks, as it has an IPS panel, there's no point in HDR especially since you get a chroma 4:2:0 which ruins the color and probably RGB Range too, so SDR is a better choice if you had gamma issues (Too much contrast) in SDR with Chroma 4:2:2, then you may lower to 1440p for the full RGB.

      @@TuckingFypozzz when using 120Hz and HDR, yes, to get higher chroma sampling, but if you play on 60Hz, then 4K is a better choice. also test 4K with 120Hz but SDR, that should give you chroma 4:2:2 but should look fine, ensure that RGB range doesn't get limited like some monitors that have issues with PS5.

      @sawdust8691 4 месяца назад

      I highly recommend the channel "gamingtech".
      He focuses on HDR settings for games, specifically for LG OLED TVs like yours and mine.
      Very convenient to have a guy with testing equipment and enthusiast about HDR test and give the settings for a lot of games. Saves a lot of time and headaches to get it right.
      You got a fantastic HDR display. But I recommend you make sure it's set up properly.
      In general I would suggest making sure the HDR settings on the PS5 system settings are set up correctly, and make sure to use HGIG, not Dynamic Tone Mapping. You can change it in the TVs brightness settings.
      DTM will overbrighten the screen and make you set up HDR incorrectly. It ignores your actual settings and the TV takes over.
      If you set up settings with DTM on you will get a very overbright and washed out image.
      Use HGIG, especially when adjusting settings. It's the most accurate and actually uses the console settings and displays it properly. Your TVs max HDR brightness should be 800 nits. DTM will have you set it at like 2000 if you obey the instructions most times. Not good.
      Also make sure HDR is set to "on when supported", don't do "always on". That will force SDR games into an HDR shell which messes up the image. Only use HDR on supported games. The PS5 will toggle it automatically.
      Anyway you might know this already. Just mentioning just in case.

      Hi, I checked the TV, PQ EOTF doesn't go well and overall due to IPS panel and very low HDR brightness, it's better to play on SDR for this TV, SDR would look better in any case, but if you see it's washed out, maybe that's due to wrong Gamma range, lower resolution 1 step (like 1440p if it supports) and see if the HDR looks any better. but overall, due to a very low Contrast (not good for dark room), the best mode to play on your TV would be SDR.

    Should I use the HDR setting on PS5 if I don't have a HDR TV?

      No, and you can't if your screen doesn't support it!

    when? simple : EVERY TIME ! mostly, HDR in games are trash, implementation is incorrect. Staying away with HDR in games, and keep using SDR is a better guarantee to have a nice picture, without having crushing black or elevated black level, or clipping the white, at least if you have setting your picture preset the right way of course.

      Hi, in terms of monitor, most of them don't even have a correct local dimming, and only some TVs have great HDR output, and yes, many games have wrong HDR implantation on their base. SDR is still good in many cases.

    computer and consoles hdr is bullshit because is not real hdr, its just sdr signal with brightness, contrast, tonemapping manipulation, mainly increased brightness to deceive the viewer, the best is to fully disable it

      Really depends on the game, some games use it Natively, but of course, they don't come close to an HDR-recorded and graded movie, it's different how HDR works in games compared to movies.
