Your farm looks alot different now than it did 2 years ago when I first started watching. I can tell that you have spent a lot of money and time to get to look this way. Keep up the awesome job and videos
a heck of a lot more money then time....I wouldn't be surprised if he added up all the man hours that it took at least 2 full years to go through everything/haul to the dump, the scrap metal place, sell/give away, etc.
Oops...meant heck of alot more time than money.
I’m not a farmer so I really appreciate the depth of information you share about all the things that go into running your business
Same!! I really enjoy talking to the local farmers and using the info learned from Cole.
Blind leading the blind.
"An old man in a young man's body". XD That explains a lot!! =D
Who said all farmer do is plant seed, wait, then harvest... nothing to do in between that time. The knowledge you shared, and I surprisingly followed, was incredible. Just the rock, and the lime in the soil, or hydrogen, was a lot. 😊
I agree with your grandfather. You’re an old man stuck in a young man’s body. However, a really fun and cool old man with a great sense of humor. You make farming very interesting and I love all the explanations. Thank you
I enjoy the property maintenance videos - probably because misery loves company. We are not far from you guys on the Wisconsin side of the Mississippi, and have a 30+ acre property. Property maintenance is a full day per week of smoothing, killing, sawing, cutting, whacking, and fixing. Country living is definitely not for everyone, but I wouldn't trade it for anything 😊
Cole, The Farm is looking great and should payoff with less hassles and more productivity this year even with the ongoing Grain Bin Fiasco. I hope your Lawyers are working as hard as you all do to get the resolution and repairs needed soon. Your extra time on explaining the chemistry aspects of your operation are awesome. I never thought I would ever know about these things, Yet I find myself enjoying and learning more with each video. As always Thank You for bringing us along on your Journeys. With so many RUclips Farmers these days I still can't wait for each new adventure you take us on. Tell Nave that Edward is a natural and will be helping Daddy very soon and I for one can't wait to see it.
When you cut the tree, paint the top of the stump with a mixture of diesel and and Crossbow, but it has to be done quickly after cutting it down. That is what we use to do when we cut down hedge trees to keep them from growing back when I was a kid.
I have lived in Iowa my entire life & spent time on farms & have learned more about farming in this one video than at any other point. Thanks man! ✌🏻
You would be surprised by how much of what you teach on your videos has been useful to me on my tiny homestead. Thanks!
I like all the cleaning up of all the junk you have done to the farm it looks much better now than a few years ago you are a very organized person and good teacher, I enjoy watching your videos, keep up the good work.
For the weed whacker / trimmer -- as someone else said, wait until you discover how easy it is to load new string...just slide it through the holes and wind it up!
I love the weed whacker part. I literally said while watching this video that you are the smartest person I watch on RUclips, and then you say you didn’t know about the auto feed head and I was flabbergasted. 😂
Reading the instructions are such a waste.
To answer your question Nave; "What is Cole doing in his natural habitat when he's not being filmed" Cleaning...always cleaning...
It has been unusually hot all over the country. The amount of chemistry and math you use amazes me.
That’s my little boy!!! 🥹🥹🥹
Looks so good you need to repaint the side of that building as a final touch.
Cole I always learn something from you videos, I don’t live in a farm, nor will I ever need limestone. Having said that I’m 72 year old grandma that loves to learn. Happy Anniversary to you and Nava❤🎉, may you celebrate many more years of happiness and Blessings. Edward is just so stinking cute❤❤
Nava, your filming Cole "in the wild" scene was truly funny!
Great video. Cole, your knowledge or the quest for answers is amazing.
Happy Anniversary and happy baby time.😊
My 69 year old, never been on a farm, female friend loves these videos where the younger generation is working smarter and not harder. I love them too but its neat how much she appreciates when you do the science and run the numbers be it yields or farm budgets. Her generation and those prior already hit the limit of working harder regardless of industry.
So think you covered most of the STEM courses in this video. Great job taking book learning to practical implementation. I have always been impressed by farmers. Haven't figured out how farmers make any profit yet, still looking there. Anyway, farmers seem to know how to fix everything and get very little to no credit for it. Also the help out your neighbor mentality is awesome. Wish more to the world worked that way.
Knowing farmers can fix anything when a farmer brought a set of running boards into my work to be installed I tried to find a different project. We’ll I finished that one too and still ended up with the running boards. Fords studs in the rocker were spinning. I knew there was a reason he brought the boards in to be installed. 20 min job became a 2 hour job.
Love the gravel work and I will be spraying my new gravel driveway and road work. I am half way through a 96 ton project!! A little at a time due to my retirement money is being used!! A little at a time but good results are starting to show and things are looking good!!
Thanks for all the videos...... your Grandpa would be proud!! 😊❤
Cheers Y'all. 🍻 Rick
Can you talk about crop rotation and for your particular area how you decide to rotate or plant corn on corn. Do you have fields that you always plant corn? What is the net effect? More nitrogen required?
Happy Anniversary to you and Nave. Great job on the farm rehab and everything you’ve accomplished so far. God Bless to you and yours. Really enjoy the content.
An FYI with the Lime Cole, it will take couple seasons to see results. Which is a reflection on how long it takes to break down in the soil.
Should say 'An FYI with the lime, Cole'
@@Lettuce-and-Tomatoes
yep, and because of that you don't want to over apply it when you dont see immediate results.
if it’s cost effective they have LIQUID LIME now
Yeah, a year or two ago, he discussed the efficacy difference between regular crushed lime and Pell lime. Different cost and application rates needed for offset. Awesome to see the breakdown of the variables.
I’m curious if they are doing cover crops to also help the soil.
Hey cole! Aside from farming and property maintenance. Your physical health looks great! Yes I’m complimenting your physicality bc I believe that it’s important to be able to battle whatever the world throws at you. With that being said, keep working out and most importantly… stay healthy.
Cole , you and your family is hard working . The farm is looking amazing, from the beginning till now.
Stone in drive and around the building makes everything nice. Corn and soybeans will be great feed in winter for you cows. Thanks Cole.
Eddie will be a real sweet heart. Nice work kittens.
That was very informative. Thank you, Cole for the excellent instruction. And welcome back from your anniversary trip.
I feel like you will need another layer of rock for the areas trucks drive on also you need to rent a vibrating roller or just a normal roller to compact the rock but if it vibrates it will break the rock up.
Cole I always learn something from your crop lectures. Thank you for all you do.
I just sent my mom this video and she read a few comments and she's hooked ya'll are an amazing group of folks
Hi Coke , simple way to stop the tree from growing which is safe for kids and dogs….. cut to the stump… get bath salts ie Epsom salt and put it I’ve it .. cover with black plastic sac and rocks. It rots the tree stump to the point it dissolves into the ground… gone … takes a few short months but it better for the ground… thanks for the great videos. Ashling from Ireland.
The transformation of the farm is absolutely remarkable. Great Kobe Cole. Happy Anniversary Nave and Cole ❤
Professor Cole is going to give a pop quiz to see how much we learned about M&M's, mold spots, population, and yields from today's lecture series.
Here in central Illinois our lime has always been white. Northern Illinois is brown
Bush Hog the yard, sharpen it first. Don't overdo it, lightly with angle grinder. Rent or buy a vibratory 4:06 compactor for the driveway.
I wonder if inter-seeding cover crops would help with your soil fertility. Great video
Yaaaay! We dont get spoiled with videos anymore so this is a treat!
Thank you so much Cole! Hey Nava! Sweet Edward! God bless your family!
Cole, you are entertaining and informing. Don't run out of steam but don't also burn out. Taking the week off to the Mississippi was a good idea.
Your farm looks really good Cole!
best use of inter planted beans on corn is for silage. Helps put a lot more mass and protein. Dairy near where i grew up put chick peas inter planted with a twin planter. There was no driving a sprayer in those fields.
Ya gotta give the guy credit for working as hard and smart as he does..
On your intercrop. Have you thought about pairing a short maturity corn with a long maturity soybean. You might get some extra nutrients for the soybeans as they mature. Since the soybean will be starting to produce about the time the corn is done
Cole, that was an impressive explanation of the chemical makeup of the local geography and what you have to do to get balanced soil composition. Most people couldn't do that, and most people wouldn't expect most farmers to understand that info.
Yes, intercropping is a very neat way to grow things. There is actually a formula that shows you how to figure out if intercropping is better in an area compared to monocropping. Coming from someone who has never grown up on a farm but is in my forth year in a degree of Agronomy.
No matter how hot it gets in summer, it's still better than January and February.
Agree, we can always shed layers, up to a point.
I’d much rather bundle up
There nothing else like taking a deep breath when it's 20 below zero.
Said who? Fall and winter always better then hot, and you can always put layers on! You can only take so many layers off and then you get sunburned because you took to many layers off!
@@marklangkamp3151 Can you read? I said it. Don't get your little girl panties in a wad
Cole!!! It must've taken a lot of time to give us such a well made video I follow other family farms but by far you are the best ❤️ I always look forward to the next video I'm new to the channel so I've got lots of great content to watch!! So happy 😊
A "great" explanation of the soil equation. "Thanks" for the knowledge and for sharing!
Love the scientific research and unique insights into the crops that your family raise. It's all very interesting and informative, looks like you'll have really good yields, the best yield estimates will be when the combine does the work. Love your family's farming practices, keep up the great work, my wife would like to see more videos of your new son. God bless you and all your family.
Great video again, Cole! Thanks for sharing.
Great to see how it’s going. I hope you had an enjoyable vacation. 😃
Geotextile membrane under your rock will help massively with stabilising the rock and reduce weeds. Otherwise you’ll loose a lot of rock to mud which is going to float up through your rock. You should invest in a roller to compact your rock too.
The farm and the crops are looking amazing!
Happy Anniversary to both of you. Have a lot of fun with your son.
I just use good old cowdung for my garden. But your farm is run scientificly, and looks very neat. And in september you'll find out, that the days do get shorter.
It has been obvious for a long time that that you are very tech savvy but that was your best technical explanation of corn farming on your property, I hope that we get an equally in-depth update in a few months time.
These videos you make are some of my favorite, yeah, I'm a data nerd. Thanks Cole!
You are the only vlogs l am watching so thank you bless you both
Believe it or not, you have taught me a few things about soil nutrients and preparing it for planting. Thank you very much.
Take care
you should be able to do this with phosphorous too
I love these ag science type of videos. You're doing great work here!
Happiest anniversary!!! 👏👏👏👏💗
Hello from 120 degrees in Texas 🥵This week we finally started getting some more typical 103-105 temps, and it felt so freaking cool!!
Good video Cole nice to see you and thank you for the explanation, that was interesting
Happy anniversary Keep doing what you love
Wow, not only are you putting tremendous effort in education and understanding the theory of farming. You are eloquently explaining everything exceptionally well. Nice job Cole.
I have learned so much from your channel. Hopefully, I can remember it all, but just want to say thank you for all that you do.
I like these long videos. Thank you for efforts baby cornstar is so cute .🌽⭐️
On behalf of Wendling, we appreciate your continued business!! 😊
Lots of science and math in today's video.
You did an excellent job of explaining ! 👍
It was great getting to see you and Daddy Cornstar at the farm progress show. While I am a technically inclined person I have little knowledge of what goes into farming. Thanks for the info and content. I was the one guy wearing a long sleeve shirt at the farm show. Skipped it on Monday and now I'm feeling it a bit.
Great news, good job😊
The farm is really looking good. Not everywhere is dry this summer though. We have gotten a ton of rain this summer and it's been a job trying to keep up with the vegetation growing everywhere causing me to do a lot of weed eating and mowing also. Keep up the great work, all that rock will make it a lot easier to get around.
Cole that was one powerful video, Farm is looking good👍👍
In Ireland we spread Lime all the time when and where needed on grassland or tillage ! our lime is really really white!! Interesting video overall 👌🏻😍
Same here in Cornwall
Soon your (grandpas) farm will be in FARMSTEAD OF THE MONTH magazine. KUDOS❤
Take that shield off the trimmer you can run out more line and do more work faster..
Happy Anniversary Cole! Edward is really getting big and he is so cute. You have a lovely family and of course that statement includes your entire family. I love the support that you give one another.
I often say that the best crop our land grows is rocks... perhaps I should start harvesting them! 😆
Great Vid Cole!
Well happy anniversary to you Cole and your wife
I'm not a farmer but the "Agumath" is so interesting. It would be interesting on hearing about irrigation or more like the lack of irrigation in Iowa. I followed another farming channel from Nebraska and irrigation is a big part of their corn and bean program.
I've been so curious about this mixed plot. I was hoping you would show us what its doing. Keep up the good work!
In my garden I have had that trouble to. I used bath salts. It worked a treat stopped yellowing on the plant and helped my veggies plants grow stronger. Of course I used an ag formula I don’t think putting raddox on your corn is really going to chill them out. 😂 It’s an interesting conversation minerals I mean and growing conditions.
Was at the Farm Progess show but didn't even see the Titan Tire booth. According to my daughter's steps app we walked 8 miles!
I have learned so much today!
I look at the radar multiple times a day and say a prayer for rain down here in Texas, add an extra prayer for farms up there that need rain.
Informative as always.. we all are curious on bin site... I'm curious about the cracked foundation if it got worse or holding...also 17:10 in.. auger looks like old beans still in it
Nice work on the driveways ! 👍
Good luck Cole and crew
Looks very impressive. Time and patience
The intercropping is a nice idea. Bet you wish you had an old, old single digit row combine for harvesting that!
If the timing was right, you could use two combines following each other and just sweep it from one side to the other corn, beans, corn beans....
Austin, Texas - Tallied our 73rd triple-digit heat day of the year on Labor Day and more are on the way for the workweek. In fact, we'll see temperatures get even warmer over the next several days. 1.3 inches of rain all summer
I don’t know if you reach your limit yet but sooner or later it’s what it is you won’t be able to go any further . It’s good you put the effort in trying and finding what is going on your farm . As for the weather every year is different ask any old farmer .
LOVE the bats!!!❤ put up bat boxes.
Apparently tar spot can overwinter on corn residue and infect crops the next year. I'm not sure if there would be a great or practical solution to that, but I found it pretty interesting.
Great content Cole
