Restoring A $7,000 Mansion: Removing The Basement Floor (Pt. 1)

- Опубликовано: 1 июл 2024
- My mansion needs a new basement. Today I am attempting to remove the old, broken basement floor. I break concrete, remove huge piles of dirt, jack hammer, drive heavy equipment, run a demolition saw, and rent one of the most useful machines I have ever used.

A suggestion Cole and Nave, make it easy to walk in the basement. Have a washer and dryer in the basement that is just for the clothes used around chemicals. Have a washer and dryer on the 1st or 2nd floor for your normal clothes. My mom and dad did this. In our farming community I grew up in, my family is the only family not affected by cancer. I believe some of the reason is because my mom was so careful of the farm clothes vs normal clothes. She always had my dad undress in the garage, take a shower in the basement, wash all farm clothes together and was careful with anything with the farm chemicals. She was an OSHA representative for Ft. Leavenworth. She would go to classes and training about chemicals often. Many chemicals can cause cancer, other diseases and cause birth defects.
On our family farm, you’d walk in the back door and immediately go to the basement, strip, and shower. An old fashioned wringer washer for work clothes, always line dried, even in winter. Boots were always kept outside. We went completely organic in 72 because my uncle died suddenly, and my aunt, who was also a nurse, was convinced it was because of chemicals. No treated seed either. So even though the land is rented out now, it is chemical-free, and the soil is tested 2-3 times per year to make sure it stays that way. Northwestern Illinois.
Thats bullshit, in my family there is no cancer in the arable/sprayed crops but only in the organic dairy family!
Dog just being a dog😊❤
Men and their toys 😅❤
Boy you guys are working machines. Wish I could do like you I could get something done bot I'm just an old 80 yr woman .😢
Just love how positive and kind you are. Roman and Justin are funny ... the three of you work well together
They all have good money soo they are happy and in peace.
Cole, Roman is a superstar. Don't lose him. Employee forever!!
Roman was so funny making Justin talk into the camera!😂 love Justin
Roman is the guy that you don't want to get upset. That guy is a monster! The Roman therapy with the sledge hammer sure helps. Awesome job for 2 1/2 men (I'm calling Justin on that).
Sure do enjoy watching Roman swing a sledge!
Roman is the main team player he knows his stuff what can go through the hole or not. The basement floor being uneven thickness of concrete makes it even harder to get it done faster. Hopefully day to goes a little better.
Cole should have learned his lesson by now, Roman knows his stuff. He could save lots of time by embracing the strong arm 😊😊
You're a star, keep shining bright!
Team Roman, because of maneuverability in the basement and as regards obstacles there. 😊
3:31 That's a stump grinder Cole.
That one even *stumped* me
I knew that's what it was! Yeah, at least I got something right.
Team Roman for the win!🎉
Thank goodness demolition is almost over! What a tremendous job! Love watching this and look forward to it every other day! 😊
Roman would you please remind Cole it's not a dingo. It's a Bobcat. Built with pride in North America.
LMAO and I’m an 80 year old woman…if Cole wants to call it a “Dingo” I think he’s earned the right to do so. I think it’s hilarious! 😂❤ … from PA, USA.
Always entertained by your content, it's awesome!
My husband and I enjoy your videos so much!! He always asks me: DO WE HAVE ANY COLE TODAY??? Roman is a force to be reckoned with!! No wonder he is so good at arm wrestling - he doesn’t have to work out - he uses all his muscles at Cole’s. Poor Juston won’t come on camera. It’s ok Juston we know you are one of the Three Musketeers!!!! 😊😊😊
Watching you fix up your house for your new family brings back so many memories for me. My kids are in their 20’s now and I miss those early kiddo days. Was stressful sometimes but it started the most meaningful and wonderful time of my life…my family. You guys are awesome inspiration for young people to start families! Keep up the great work!
So glad you are working smarter, yes at a cost, but this prepping to pour new basement concrete is easier and faster for all of you.
Win, win!!
You three are Brothers, from different Mothers. God is watching over your lives.
I would def be listening to the song “Dupe - Mbappe”, while working that hard 😮😮😮
Hey Cole! Great job keep up the good work. I would recommend tearing out the stairs and the blocks around the stairs now while you have the rental skid loader. Looks like there is a ton of dirt and debris that would need to be removed and much easier while you have the equipment.
dear God, it would be FAR cheaper to have torn the WHOLE damned thing down and start over. And he still has a crap roof truss system.
that is what I am thinking all the time
@@w8stral I don't think there is any question about that being true at this point, However, the whole point is that Cole wanted to at least have the frame of his great grandparents. To him obviously that holds a lot of value.
Really love how you have documented your whole adventure through the remodeling of your house. It’s really nice to see the great progress you and your team has made.
What a job! You guys are knocking it out. I've never seen anyone that is so amazingly strong and yet a teddy bear in nature as Roman. He is a rock solid fellow. Love how Justin and he get it going and with your input and ok, they work their job....man what a team the three of you make. I am in total agreement with the ppl that suggested the work clothing and etc being washed in a separate washer and dryer down in the basement. My hubby's diesel and gas spilled clothing is unreal and the entire laundry room smells horrible when he has to be working on his machines. I am all for separate equipment to wash those in. If used in the dryer everything picks up that odor........not healthy at ALL. Better yet switch out that laundry in the shop and put a shower in there before you even come into the home...... $$$ but safety!
Rock on guys and hang in there............a fantastic job you are all doing!
I like Cole’s videos no matte what he’s doing!!😊
With all the concrete and dirt you're removing from the basement that place is going to be huge ! 👍
Justin cracks me up!
10 sec gang.
Your Mom’s and wives would all be very proud of your cleaning skills A++!
Considering Cole's healthy & active lifestyle he was the last person I expected to go full goblin mode. He's been basement dwelling for weeks now!
Loving the progress. You 3 are the hardest working guys I have ever seen & you have fun. (At times) 😅
Before pouring the concrete floor, it would be good to put down a layer of thick plastic. It will help keep the moisture in the ground from coming through the concrete. It is even better if you are going to use the basement as living space.
Vote for Roman, like the way he thinks
Cool project. What is deal with that old sink? Seems like it would help if it was removed.
You guys work so hard. I ❤️ watching.
Getting your forever home finished and safe for your family at your age might put you in a 1% category. Good for you young man.
Well, it's not like he had to buy the place.
TEAM ROMAN!!
What a hard working team . Stay safe . You’re all doing a great job ! 😊what a great machine ! Eddie so cute . He looks just like you Cole ❤️They don’t make houses like that anymore !
Such an incredible amount of work but you are taking a beloved house and re structuring it for your families needs. I can’t wait to see how it progresses. Fantastic work guys. Sending best wishes from wales 🏴
I think the dip before the ramp back up would help in winter for ice drainage.
Looking forward to the next one👍⭐️
one thing is you are using an electric jack hammer - basically a toy - compressed air and more hd jackhammer are much more lively shall we say - more effective but your job is small too - you will adapt and make do, what building do you have left - almost none - you have plumbing/elec/drywall/ cabinets and an island. think about doing front door blower pressure test along with fog machine when you get basement done and before you do elec or plumbing and you can see how leaky (and where) house is - it may not be worth it since it will tell you new windows may be a good idea? it will give you an idea about long term energy budget
Y'all are AMAZING!! Kudos to each of you for the work ethic demonstrated in every video. Blessings for continued success!!!
Can't wait to see how the addition will tie into the house!
Hello justin, Cole and major roman.
I just have to tell you. It is such a pleasure watching. You guys work and not having to listen to filthy language as on many other youtube channels.
I get very excited when I see a new video Come on. I wish I were young again. I would come and help you.
I would be the one cleaning up after you on every task. That is my skill. So glad you guys are all godly man so wise and fun. God's blessings on your heads.
thanks for sharing Cole and team...
It's looking better & better everyday
Hey Cole when you do the floor in the basement get a cement pump from the cement company when they deliver a couple of loads of cement get my drift use vibratiors to make it compact have all your pipes and rebar to do a wonderful job I suggest placing lolly columns of steel under your floor joists 😊
Footing drain tiles and sump pumps
Keeps a basement nice and useable
Absolutely inspiring work. Good stuff.
You don't even know how your video's make my day. I love you all. Good, good video's
Thanks, Cole and the guys the video was awesome seeing that concrete being tore up and the new machine pretty cool there’s a lot of work anyways. God’s blessings to you and your staff and your families.
Series still going strong 💪
It's so much fun watching you guys. Thanks for sharing it with everyone.😊
ROMAN for sure... Awesome video guys. thank you
Good job guys.
Well worth Renting the machine For Sure Coming along nicely
Hard but satisfying work. When you're done, the 3 of you can look back at all the work it took to renovate your home. It feels much better when the people who do the work have a connection to the home, other than a paycheck. You can have a barbecue or everyone over for Easter, complete with an egg hunt. Edward will be just the right age, as will a few of Roman's little ones. We put pennies, nickels, and dimes in the eggs, as my girls didn't like most Easter candy. 😊❤ Oh, we color coded the eggs so each of them would have the same thing. 😊❤
You should put a fire pole from the first floor to the basement and leave the stairs out completely, hahaha
Lol. Help, I've slid into the basement, and I can't get up.
Sliding down the pole would be relatively easy, but not everyone would be able to pull themselves up the pole to get back to the 1st floor.
@ILGuy2012 but now there's a walk out 😁
Your channel is fun to watch again.
Juston & Roman!! Great jobs all you guys! Teamwork!
Seeing the work smarter not harder! Good job guys! Im just gutted i have to wait another 2 days for the next bit! Makes me wana cone bk again thays for sure! Definately never boring!
Thanks Cole! Looks great! You got this! Thanks for sharing!
Wow !!! You never cease to amaze us !!!!
Hey I’ve been watching everything y’all or Cole, started his monumental changes to his farm. I love y’all started this project with the wrong shovel and a bucket. lol oh yeah that poor broom. Oh now we have equipment big equipment lol love it
keep up the awesome work you all do have fun be safe in joy your day
Great job like the new equipment.
Excellent video, I have been watching, worth recommending
I so enjoy watching you guys. A great work ethic is so important for us all to have. I hope I have instilled it in my own family.
Cole, you guys are killing it!
Love the time lapse as usual
Ive had to break up concrete. Roman makes it look easy
Wow, what a job you all are doing.
The one thing I've been taught over, and over, and again over. Is humility. It's OK that the house is average, at best, in size.
Love these construction videos!
36 inch drum fan - $200 at Menards. A LOT of places and shops you can use that on the farm. Would have been perfect for that basement smoke.
No 20 inch high velocity fan are better. $50 and move more air faster.
I hope you put a tarp over the opening so it doesn’t rain in the house and flood the basement ❤
They are getting serious weather today. Multiple storm chasers streaming in general area.
Never a dull moment! Thanks so much :)
Next time hire the breaker with the dingo
I see that Justin is not a big fan of the camera, but I love seeing him in the videos
My vote is for Eduard. Cutest man on the work team ❤😂
Another great video!!❤
Awesome always thanks
Great video today ! 👍👍
Love watching the videos and progress being made is amazing.
Poor Justin. 😆😆😆 Being bullied into having fun. 😂😆😂
I think he might be camera shy.😊
Roman looks like he is really getting his anger out😅😂!! Love Roman?! Good work guys!!!
not afraid of some work. love it
You guys are masters, and you make it look easy,
Team Cole for sure!
I’ve been watching for now 3 years and still enjoy watching what you do thanks
You should get a cart for your cement saw. You can set the saw right on it. It's much easier on your back. That is what we have for our saw .
Talk about cleaning the basement! You make it look easy.
My dogo argentino, thinks you're all beef, and watches every episode, all serious. She howls at the end. Thanks
Content is great. “The reboot time is impressive…” Absolutely love this channel…
Great job, fellas! Just watchout for your toes.
Good job fellas
Go Team!! You men blow me away. You keep making videos I'll keep watching.
Great job
Love the videos can't wait to see the results
A big thank you to your editor!! Excellent job and I always love the music he chooses. 😊
GREAT POST BROTHER. ❤
WOWZER!! I thought the basement floor would take at least a week!!! Great progress!! You will be rebuilding soon!!👏👏👏👏
Keep up the good work.
Awesome video Cole.
