  • Aprilia RS 660 First Service…what it includes and WHY you NEED to go to the dealer (SK XIII)
First service is just a glorified oil change right? Should you even go to the dealer to do it? Are there any consequences for not going to the dealer to get it done? Here is a quick video about my experience and what I learned after going through the process!

Mods I ordered - MIVV full exhaust, all Evotech accessories (frame sliders, axle sliders, etc) Red rear wheel, MRA R Series tinted windscreen, ASV levers, passenger peg delete kit, New Rage Cycles fender eliminator kit, rear seat cowl. I bought the Apex black. I'm thinking of getting it wrapped also. 110% stripping all the decals regardless.

Under federal law, manufacturers and dealers can't refuse to honor your vehicle's warranty and can't deny warranty repairs just because someone other than the dealer worked on the car.
With that said, my closest dealer is 4.5 hours away, and I'm NOT going to drive that far just to have my oil and filter changed.

However, I was not worried about anything dropping off it ! As for mods on your bike, I’m at a loss, it’s a beautiful bike, I don’t think it needs any. Hey man, good to see you in my notifications.
I personally noticed a pretty solid improvement in the bike overall post first service. My dealer offered first service for free with the discount card you could buy, so all in all it was around 300ish for first service, but i also get discounts on some other parts and priority servicing if i have to drop it off. Which i did, due to 2 gaskets being borked, giving me a bit of an oil leak. Warrantys taking care of it though, and I should have her back next week i hope.
First mods? I dumped those mirrors cause i hated them, and put the rizoma stealths on, an arrow catless full titanium exhaust, spider clutch and brake levers, and an af1 ecu swap for the tune and enabling the integrated headlight turn signals. The mirrors look really sharp I think, and have almost no vibration, but the overall visibility isnt great, to be honest. In the end, it was worth it to me.
Fender eliminator and progressive turn signals for the rear coming up next i think, along with the MIA, whenever those make it back from across the ocean.
    Ride safe bro!

Fault codes can be read and erased by yourself if you buy an OBDLINK2. As it’s basically what the dealerships use and you can buy one for less than $100. Cheap investment/insurance. 👍😎🇦🇺

I’ve experienced the gears selector that has unscrewed during the first 200 km and It fell down, an interesting sensation with the feet not being able to change anymore the gears during a mountain pass! I called the assistance that then fixed properly the screw of the selector and now I always take care of all the screws and bolts before a new ride and I’ve in my backpack a kit from Bosch in order to do some little repairs if needed during the trips. @Spitfiya.rs660 2 года назад

Nope my dealer said it’s recommended and require that the dealer do the first initial service there’s a whole checklist that they have to turn into Aprilia so that the warranty is not voided. Don’t screw around with the first service just let them do it and then do what you want after that. I was also told that they recommend that you can come in optional at 2500 to 3000 miles and get another service but usually it’s every 3000 miles that you should take it in and get a service if not you do it yourself every 3000 miles. First service don’t screw around my suggestion do what you want but when something happens and you have to take it in all they’re gonna do is find out did the dealer do the first service? Than your left out to hang out to dry brother. Don’t let that happen to you

idk for sure but pretty sure most motorcycles simply change the oil and filter and "check" everything which is ridiculous to pay hundreds of dollars it IS a rip off on mst vehicles. As for bolts you can check all that yourself and use blue locktight on various things. WAY back when I was a Kawasaki mechanic and I LOVED doing first services Cha CHING literally took me less than 1/2 and that was back when you actually did have to worry about adjustments way way more than today but it was easy peasy. Customers were delighted that drive chain and brake levers were adjusted etc and really felt they got their money worth ....they did NOT...lol they could and SHOULD adjust their own levers drive chain etc but whatever.

Let's be honest, it IS a glorified oil change. You can do everything at home, including turning off the service light however that will require a $500 OBD tool made for Piaggio. Changing oil/filter/crush washer, checking bolt torque and cleaning/lubing chain should not cost $300+. If you have a '21 model you may need ECU updates from the dealer. If your dealer won't honor warranty because you used OEM parts (with receipts) or turn off your service light for ~$30, find a new dealer.
