Lol, oldest saying, bad product. Does not matter the car or bike manufacturer.
Purchase enough over the years. Differing manufacturers. Get good ones, bad ones, so so one's.
Luck of the draw. Mass production, hangover Monday, etc. You either get a good one or a bad one.
Where manufacturing is at today. Most will be good, outside of sensors & other electronics that go bad. A bad sensor, the most common issue, happens from mass production.
For the most part modernity is better. Other than the added complexity. More so in electronics.
I am kinda leaning back to old dumb carburetors. No computer system. Simply need to know how to re-jet, clean & rebuild carbs, as well as sync them. Simple points for ignition, & gravity feed fuel system. Simply very little to go wrong.
For street use, simply do not need the 200+ hp bikes. The old 100-160 hp is plenty fast enough.

    • @shaneflutsch2270

This is something people never think about. But very true... Imagine knowing 20 people.
If 18 of them turn out to be Honda guys, and only two of them have had major breakdowns, then it makes it look like 16 out of 18 bikes are reliable to a tee.
However, if the last two of 20 guys are BMW or Ducati guys, and one of those two guys had a breakdown, it makes it look like 1 out of every 2 BMWs or Ducatis are bad.
That is called sample size. Like if you only knew one person with an iPhone, and that one person had so many update and glitch issues that you swore never to buy one.
And yet look at how many people have iphones in real life, that aren't making negative reviews... Reliability is about sample size and the care you take of your bike, not just the normal "Japanese is ALWAYS superior" attitude that many of my friends give me. Yes, that may be true but...
Also one of them managed to blow up a cbr-1000rr at like 9,000 miles. So... It's not just set in stone.
I've seen so many people who love their Aprilias and stopped to talk to them. These people ride a lot and also put in track hours 🤷 almost made me want one. Either way they're beautiful bikes 🙂

My Shiver has had few issues over the last 10 years and over 120K kms. A tacho needle that fell off that got the dash replaced under warranty. Some electrical issue that was a $100 fix. A starter motor that needed replacement. That was less than $200 delivered and easy to replace. There was an annoying problem with the indictor lights on the rear being real easy to break. Aprilia did end up offering better stalks for them but I ended up buying some led ones they had which were more solid. Started getting some oil leaks a year ago. Got it sorted reasonably cheap by an Aprilia dealer. I don't know what the other bikes in their range are like for reliability but if they're anything like the Shiver I'd have no problems buying another Aprilia.

Because not nearly as many people are brave enough to own Aprilia. Most people who I tell that I ride an Aprilia say “never heard of it”. Because they don’t spend nearly as much on marketing compared to say Ducati. But I love my Tuono. The only thing I wish Aprilia did was offer more options when buying a new bike. You basically only get a color choice and factory or base model. But the exhaust note makes up for that lol

Got the same bike the guy in the video has (2020 RSV4 Factory) and I love it to bits, especially the V4 engine, which _was_ kind of the reason I got the bike. A killer combination with the stock Akra.
That said, the Ape did leave me stranded once. To be perfectly honest, I could have ridden it back home even with the warning light on, although the power would've been limited. I didn't want to push my luck, though, so I had it towed to the garage and then to the dealer. The funny thing was, by the time we took the bike off the tow truck, the warning light had gone. 😂🤦 The onboard error log showed some kind of "exhaust valve hang-up" issue but when I took the bike for a short ride from the dealer, all was fine. I clocked another 300km on it since and still good... *knocks on wood*
...which leads me to the point -- given how laden with electronics modern bikes are, glitches like these will crop up, I believe. European bikes may be somewhat more susceptible than Japanese, but every brand is going to have some kind of issues at some point.
Not giving up my RSV4 anytime soon, that's for sure.

I have not gotten the valve adjustment that is required at 9 thousand miles, I believe. How important is the valve adjustment service? I don’t have a dealer nearby or anyone that can do it. Do you think that this also goes for the previous version? ( the rsv mille?) In that one the engine is made by Rotax. I also think that you have to maintain them like an italian bike, which people probably do not do if they are used to a japanese bike.
