Let me some up like this sheer knowledge , no non sense, more practicality with fun when this duo are together. . .loved this version of himalayan ! Cheers
Honestly, i was expecting a leaner member Muddy Hog 411 when you started on the project. You have done it perfectly. After upgrading to the Adv 390 from the Himalayan, i realised there are so many things RE could have done better seeing the mods on your bike. I also rode it for about some time on our return leg and quickly realised how much change it is to the stock version. The clutter was missing, the acceleration was great and the confidence of holding it at high speeds. I clocked 110 or so on the speedo and it was rock solid. It's a big amount you have spent on making it the machine that ideally a manufacturer should look to do in the first place.
Hi. The mods that I did are reversible. Nothing permanent. No cutting or welding. And this is as far as I could go without getting extreme about it. And I think the Muddy is in a good place. Perhaps down the line some minor mods would keep happening. Thanks for the kind comment and thanks for the camera work. Cheers!
You have some good and sensible mods on your bike, especially the YSS suspension and the lighter rims. 2.5 kg weight reduction on the front rim is a lot!
Thanks! The stock front wheel is really heavy and at 21" it's got max potential for weight savings. Rear we saved about 1 kg having moved to 18" regular Excel rims and had we used the Takasago 17" the savings would have been close to 2.0 kg. The Excel Takasago Japan rims are international motocross competition aluminium alloy rims so no surprises that they are so light.
@@bigbearbangalore Yes, the weight saving on the rear is also significant but on the front the gyroscopic effect is greater due to the larger diameter. So, a 2.5 kg reduction there must have improved handling tremendously.
Oh yes! It's significantly more flickable at any speeds. The gyro effect is huge on the stock wheel. And the lighter unsprung mass has improved the bumpy road behaviour. The front is now more planted, stable and responds well.
@@bigbearbangalore Nice! Indeed the reduced gyroscopic effect would improve handling and the reduced unsprung weight would improve suspension performance which will in turn allow the front tyre to grip the road better.
This was great! Thank you so much for taking the time to make such helpful videos. I’m new to bike maintenance and improving their performance at this level. Watching your “How To” videos gives me the inspiration to try doing it myself. I’m watching from England. 👍
Awesome video and I enjoyed sharing my experiences with the muddy hog 411. Envy your thought process in making a bike get meaner n more responsive. ❤❤. Thank you for calling me over.
Hat's off to you Bosky for such modifications which speaks volumes about your passion for perfection 👌. Had I been Siddharth Lal, I would have offered you the position of Technical head of RE😊. Your quest and initiatives for improving the stock product to such level is second to none . I wish the manufacturers seek your expertise to improve their products to such quintessential levels.

Wonderful modifications you have done sir, definitely worth the time and money invested on it, definitely after seeing the review from you, can definitely say that this is how the company should have come up with this wonderful machine, for sure it would have ticked the boxs for the adv enthusiasts, as a Himalayan owner myself, would definitely want to do these mods
Bosky, your articulation of the mods helps understand the practical advantages! Would want t to meet you In person I was lucky to meet you during one of the weekend breakfast rides on Hassan road
Great video as always. I’ve always felt that there’s a lot more that can be achieved from the Himalayan and your modifications are simple proof of that. They are thought through after recognising the traits of the bike. I’m also running my BS3 with the touring seat and touring handlebar and a BMC filter for quite a few years now. These alone make a huge difference. Would like your advice on the tubeless conversion- is it advisable to do an Outex conversion on stock rims? Thank you
Thank you. The Outex is for use only on tubeless compatible rims and will not work on stock rims. Too many things can go wrong. So I suggeat that you use it only when you change the rims. Regards.
Hi. I really like your videos. I feel they carry quality, detail and integrity. For example, you guys talk about engine clatter, engine heat, etc, which many reviewers don't mention. You guys mentioned that the mods greatly reduced the engine clatter. Which exact mod did that? I love the bike, but the engine noise really gets on my nerves. That and the engine heat. I have been hunting and trying ways to reduce them for some years now.
Thank you very much for a successful modification... You rock... Actually I wanted to hear exhaust note after modification... If possible please add few riding videos with real sound...
Himalayan 411 BS6 Problem - Handle movement not free, one side pulling. Work done by me - Cone set and T changed - 2times. Front wheel and tyre changed - 1 time. This problem is temporarily solved, issues are arising again
Hello. Perhaps some spacers on the suspension at most by 10mm. But why? Increasing height will affect the stability of the GT and make it a bit top heavy.
Hello! There is no 650 Himalayan as far I know. There is a 450 that could be launched this year. And post that the current Himalayan may stop. It up to RE to decide. In my opinion both can exist since they will be priced quite differently and can coexist. Cheers!
Hi! Retro motorcycles are more for the simple and gentle touring and that works for some. There is a time for that and a time for serious travel and touring which can be done with less effort and less stress on proper touring motorcycles. There are plenty to choose from design to budget. From the Suzuki Vstrom 250 to the KTM390 Adventure. Test ride multiple times all that appeals to you and choose what works for you. Cheers!
Was eagerly waiting for this video. What is the continuous top speed you could achieve?? Have you tasted it to know this parameter?? Thanks for the update.
