Good luck with them, Rod, and please let me know how they work. The Grand holds a special place in my heart, as I used to fish there when traveling to a bamboo fly rod gathering in the area. Love that place! Tim www.troutandfeather.com
Awesome, David; it's been a winner for me, too. I hope you're healthy and safe, and thanks for taking a moment to comment. Talk to you soon! Tim www.troutandfeather.com

Hi Tim, great video and that tie was beautifully done. I agree on the contrast in the fly. If you were fishing that as a dropper without a bead would you still tie it on a jig hook? Thanks, stay safe and healthy.
Hi Joe, and thanks for the kind words with the Cahill Frenchie. Sans bead, I would go with a scud hook, as I love that curved shank to show vulnerability. Stay safe and healthy, too! Tim www.troutandfeather.com
I've fished them over the last couple seasons, Robert, and they have worked well for me. The Cahills have yet to hatch in my area...but they will soon! ;-) I hope all is well with you. Tim www.troutandfeather.com
Question: Is this called a Cahill Frenchie b/c you used Light Cahill colored dubbing for the thorax? A true Light Cahill is a clinger nymph and has a much wider and flatter abdomen and thorax. Additionally, there is no appreciable difference in color between the abdomen and thorax, and the legs are very pronounced.
Hi Fly Tyer! Yes, it's a Cahill Frenchie as per the Cahill-colored abdomen. You're correct, the nymph has no discernible difference, but this is a pattern I recommend fishing during Cahill season because the fish are still attracted to that shade of yellow, no matter what stage of emergence the flies are currently in. I talk briefly about this around the 10:25 mark of the video. Thanks for checking...and good thing the fish don't seem to mind! ;-) Tim www.troutandfeather.com
Hi Chris, and I am unsure. My Stonfo Transformer is from 2015, thus maybe the jaws have changed since then? When did you purchase your vise? Tim www.troutandfeather.com
The Grand River here in Ontario has a significant Cahill hatch, just weeks away now. Will definitely add a few of these to my box! Tight lines!
Good luck with them, Rod, and please let me know how they work. The Grand holds a special place in my heart, as I used to fish there when traveling to a bamboo fly rod gathering in the area. Love that place! Tim www.troutandfeather.com
Basic and simple catches more then any other style!!
This is one of my favorites of all time, good catch, Chasse! Tim www.troutandfeather.com

Thanks for making this seem easy enough for me to tie...I have some beautiful dark green dyed pheasant tail, that should work really well
That sounds killer, Scott, thanks for sharing your idea. Be sure to let me know how the pattern works for you. Tim www.troutandfeather.com

Hey Tim, why are your jaws darker than the jaws on my transformer? Are they different?
