      Yeah because I witnessed that era and consider myself so lucky that I was actually the part of that era. I am lucky that I witnessed so many WWE superstars in that era which we cannot find today in the present era. I consider myself even more lucky to witness the era of 2 biggest superstars in the history of WWE (WWF at that time) in the likes of Stone Cold and The Rock. I consider SCSA as number 1 and my most favorite and The Rock number 2 and my 2nd favorite in the history of WWE.

    Their match at WM 19 is criminally underrated. The crowd exploded when The Rock won, it was pretty awesome to see The Rock finally get his Mania win, and it was sad to see Austin go, but it was a great way for him to ride off into the sunset.

      @@dreamshakejunya Businesswise, it would've made no sense to have Rock go over Austin in their previous matches other than WM17. And that wasn't gonna happen cause Rock was leaving to film 'The Scorpion King. Before that, Austin was always the bigger star and should've been the one going over. Rock was supposed to get the belt back from Austin in 99, but he started getting over as a heel, so they turned him babyface and his program with Austin came to an end. They were also supposed to fued in 2000 with Austin as the heel, but Austin needed neck surgery so Triple H filled that void.

    The most iconic rivalry of all time, the one between the 2 wrestlers who made the attitude era so legendary. The fact at some point they were pratically both the faces of the company, both so popular and huge stars made it even more legendary. All the 3 wm matches are amazing for different reasons, especially the last 2. Wm 15 consolidated Austin and at the same time paved the way for Rock. Wm 17 was the biggest match in wrestlemania history in my opinion, the 2 man at the max of their popularity who finally collided again. Also it was a masterpiece of storytelling by the start to the end, where both turned in facts all the words they said in the previous interview with Jim Ross. Wm 19 in the end is simply my favourite match of all time. The perfect ending of a circle and in my opinion the last final chapter and definitive conclusion of the attitude era. Also the fact this was Steve's last match made it so poetic. Him fighting for the last time against his greatest rival was the best way to end his career and everytime i see the post match when Rock breaks character to thank him always gets me emotional. Rock vs Austin was the highest point of wrestling history. 2 GOATS

      19 was a great end to an era. Other than the Austin heel turn at WM 17, it was an unrivaled time in pro wrestling. Austin went out on top against his greatest (wrestler) rival and didn't overstay his welcome. It would've been cool to have him for the RA era, but his body was breaking down. More matches against matured WWE wrestlers along with some of the incoming RA stars would've been awesome. WM 17 was more intense as a spectacle, but WM 19 was a great finale to an unrivaled legacy.

    Correction. The Rock didn't lose the right to face Triple H at WM19. In the backstage segment he said to Bischoff he didn't want to face Triple H because at this time he needs a victory over Austin at WM rather than the world title. So he cancelled his match with Booker T. Then Bischoff said that he still needs The Rock in the match at RAW because "sponsors and advertises were promised to see The Rock in action" or something like that. So The Rock went on to face The Hurricane with whom he had a backstage segments for some weeks during that period.
    Still an awesone video though. One of the best feuds of all time. Maybe you can cover the rest of their matches too? Would be great!

    The two biggest wrestling stars in the history of the industry. People many times have said either one would have dominated an era of wrestling, but this rare point in history they both coexisted in the same era, the best era. Many sports have classic and legendary rivalries and events. These two were IT for pro wrestling! It’s poetic that Austin’s final match was against the Rock in Wrestlemania.

    We need a triple h vs the rock rivalry history just like this one, great work brother keep it up. I believe the ending segment from smackdown March 29th 2001 Austin’s interview with Kevin Kelly when he went in a cussing tirade planted the seeds for heel turn slowly. Also we should have an Austin vs Kurt feud like this too.

    Great video. I think one comment that could have added to the lead up to WM17 was Austin returning from being run over and then losing his 3 stages of hell match with HHH. I think Austin losing that match plays into the fact that Austin doubts himself enough to "sell his soul" to McMahon to be WWF Champion.

    Austin's heel turn was just awkward; there were some great moments but it just felt wrong with his persona. The Rock on the other hand was a far more compelling and entertaining heel; Hollywood Rock was his best gimmick IMO.

    • @Cableguy15
      @Cableguy15 4 года назад +17

      At first, Austin's heel turn had a lot of potential. HHH getting injured pretty much messed that up. Him sucking up to McMahon was hilarious, but probably turned a lot of people off from wrestling in general. Even still, when he briefly turned face against the Alliance, he got one of the loudest, longest crowd reactions I've ever heard. That second heel turn really hurt his popularity, even though he did great work as a heel and honestly had some of his best matches ever (Angle and Benoit matches come to mind).

    • @roodypoochrisw
      @roodypoochrisw 4 года назад +18

      Austin’s first heel turn was alright, but would have worked better if Rock was there, unfortunately Rock was in Hollywood, and it left us with a missing puzzle piece. Austin’s second heel turn when he joined the Alliance was absolutely horrible, it was the nail in the coffin, I still don’t understand why they did it.

    • @GorditoCrunch343
      @GorditoCrunch343 4 года назад +8

      @@roodypoochrisw They were considering a HHH face turn for the first Austin heel turn so that would have been the summer program, but obviously the injury messed it up. The second one could have been saved if they did Rock vs Austin at Summerslam but making Austin leader of the Alliance was dumb and it killed any heat it could have had.
      What I would have wanted to see was Austin/HHH for the title at WM 18, that match would have deserved to headline instead of the mess we got with Austin/Hall and HHH/Jericho.

    While yes, the Debra angle of the whole feud is mostly forgotten leading into X7 I do appreciate how it helped fill out the time between the rumble and the mania match pretty successfully. The sit down interview overshadows everything but there was months of television/ppv’s produced before that pinnacle moment and the Rocks pursuit of the title was very effectively kept connected to Austin with the inclusion of the rattlesnakes wife. You look at the months long builds done since then, the Becky/Rousey train wreck of a build with knee injuries and Trips/Steph and then McMahon/Flair inserting themselves into the whole mess and having Austins wife manage the Rock for a few weeks before taking a bump resulting in Steve attacking Rocky is grade A writing.
