Putting it back together like that is called 'profesionalism'. It's what trust is built on. Needless to say you have lots of both.
Man, I sit here in awe...
I mean, I've been watching you since years, I also do electronics repair for a living but I would have never thought that anyone on this planet could make that iPhone board boot up lol... congratulations!! The customer should be so grateful to you for this recovery
I was pretty shocked, honestly. Boards with this much damage very often require a full CPU transplant over to a board that isn't mutilated.
The end was beyond the call of duty
Yah for sure.. I just couldn't let this thing go out by truck or by airplane with a hot battery inside that mangled mess. :D
That final moment when you think to try one more time. is a special moment. ive been there my friend. great video and a happy customer.
The fact that phone even had any signs of life at all yet alone live long enough to get the data is just mind boggling, excellent work mate
That's one lucky customer
Huge profit
So glad you posting videos again! Great video!
That was some major damage.Getting data of that phone is impressive.well done Jason,👍👍
Thank you! I was shocked to find out that the DC power supply said the board was booting and *may* not need the full transplant afterall. It was a nice win for sure having cut hours off of the recovery time!
This additionally goes to show how much Apple has put into perfecting the board design in all the ways including strength, interconnections and at component and board level that you could grab off of it a backup at this level of damage. Great work as usual Jason!!
I meant to reply to this yesterday but I got side-tracked. I can talk all I want about how much I don't like underfill & such but at the end of the day, Apple logic boards are by far the most successful devices that we have coming through here for repair. I believe the underfill/epoxy is largely responsible for holding devices like this one together. It sure is remarkable for it to boot after such stress! Thank you!
Most of that damage will buff right out. Most excellent data save Jason, that is one lucky customer, having you on his team.
I'm just glad this customer didn't request a full repair :D It actually would not have surprised me.. LOL thanks
😲
I like your commitment to your customers. Great job 👏
Thank you 🙏 😊
nice one ... Keep it up Jason !!!
That was great! love your videos!
Crazy! Happy to see your content.. whatever it is!
I appreciate that! I'm happy to post. Thank you
Wow Jason Wow, amazing work dude, One Two Three BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT, I wasn't expect that
It's always a pleasure watching your videos Jason.
Thank you! Next video will be posted tomorrow.
Opened RUclips. This came video came up. Gonna watch till the end :D
When you were powering up the phone, swore I had it said -mama 😂.
Lol! It might have. 😂
This video cracked me up.
Great job on editing :)
Thank u!
Great job!
still a good vid, always learn something !
Hey Jason 👋 Just amazing that you can recover data from what’s left of that iPhone 13. Great job 👍 Steve from 🇬🇧
Thank you! I sure thought this one would take a whole lot more work if it was going to be successful. 😀
You have.nice sence of humor ;-)
Great video, thanks.
Thank you for watching and commenting. I really appreciate the compliment. 🙏
Great video's Jason, while there's no way that I could contemplate doing your job, really love your video's not only for the entertainment but for your fantastic skills at repairing these iPhones
All the best From Mark(UK).
Thank you! I really appreciate the compliments. 🙏 It’s good to know people watch these videos that don’t sit and solder all day!
@@ststele I’m a machinist programmer on cnc machinery, like you said on one of your videos you make it look easy because you know what your doing, you do a job long enough and with enough focus you develop insight/instinct in what will work and what won’t, all the best look forward to the next one.
What a luck, that you were able to backup the data. Nice job!
Running fine with 10 missing caps, Electronics Repair School would be proud - there always is a flame war when he doesn't put caps back on lol -.
Lol yep! I’ve grown to be quite fond of that guy. He’s about as genuine as it gets. 👍
Well done, my friend.
Thank you much!
again a great job
op to the next one
STS Telecom: Sorry lady; your phone has a short. 🙁
Lady: OK. How long will it take for you to lengthen it. ☺️
Lol! 😂
Like new! You’re incredible.
Thanks! I did well tracking down the shorts on this but having it start-up without moving the CPU & memory to a new board was a miracle! :-)
it's amazing what can be accomplished with the correct tools. as someone that has to manage over 100 phones at work, and have swapped hundreds of screens and batteries over the years, seeing what you can do with the worst case always fascinates me. I do have to ask, on the backups that you get, are those something that that customer can just load into itunes and restore onto a new phone? or are those in a format that it requires a special software to reload them/
We send back a full iTunes backup that can be restored to a new phone and also N exported/parsed copy of the same data that is easy to browse from a computer without special software. Many people would be lost with only the iTunes backup. Thanks for commenting. 😀
I really hate the prepping a donor board for swap part… other than that, I find 13 one of the easiest ones to swap
Yes, fact! The 12 and 13 are the easiest swaps out of all of them I think.
hello jeason I hope you are well 😎 good work as always have a good day dear friend 👌
Thanks, you too! I appreciate you watching & commenting.
you are very lucky today sir ....
Good thinking about putting the phone back together how it was when you received it. Tends to raise fewer eyebrows when you go to claim insurance - you can guarantee they'll ask questions and try to refuse the claim if they think the damage wasn't caused by a bomb hitting that poor phone. Lucky on getting the backup, though, should go buy a lotto ticket.
My daughters iphone went thru my two stage snowblower. She got them to cover it but it wasn't easy because there wasn't much left to find in the snow.
Wow! That damage must have been similar to putting it through a wood chipper! Thanks for not sending the little bits here in a ziplock bag for repair lol! I’m glad she was able to get it covered.
The fact that you got anything from that poor heap of plastic, copper and silicon is impressive!
Heya oh wouw that you still could get the data from that foon that's just crazy how it looks well done
That was crazy! Can’t beat the buzz of successful surgery on a phone.
Out of interest, having never done this, how do you get the backups back to the customer? Do they import a zip to iTunes?
Yah, for sure! Especially this one that really had no business sitting there with image, touch, usb & all of the sensors talking to prevent it from rebooting every 3 minutes! We send back a full iTunes backup & also an exported backup that is easy to browse without the need to restore to a new phone or use special software to view. We would only zip either backup if a customer requests to download their data online. Then it would just be 2 zip files containing the same backups.
I had a cell i dropped in the street several years ago. The entire phone (case, screen, innards) was crushed to gravel sized pieces after cars ran over it. I am in wheelchair so dropping things happens often. Now i have a lanyard i put around my neck. Has cell and keys on it.
Absolutely perfect "rabbit from the hat"
This is one of the reason why I preferer Android (with pure OS if possible) vs IOS. You have automatic data update to your google account as soon as it connected to WIFI, and it is set up automatically by default from the factory. IOS does not have it. This is why Android does not need data recovery (unless you forgotten your google password or do not use WIFI . And if you have phone with a SD card (rare to find, but still possible), it is even simpler
Remember the old engineers mantra close the lid " and tiptoe quietly away"
Lol, yep. Exactly
teşekkürler
Will come back as a warranty job 🤣🤣 nice work
Lol!!! Yah. That would be classic. Thank you
Great work, but I was listening on headphones and I nearly had a heart attack when you clapped😂
Lol, sorry about that! I actually reduced the volume on that clap by -9db in the editor to try not to be harsh. I guess it didn't work! Thanks for the compliment. 😀
@@ststele no problem, I was so “in the moment” watching the repair and thinking there’s no way that banana of a board is going to work and then ‘bang’! 😂
@@ststele I love your persistence and commitment to getting this working, many would have given up after the first few shorts not clearing 💪🏻👍🏻
That's amazing, how can it work at all !!
You have had phones with less damage and were very dead.
I expected it to be stone dead without a chance.
You have healing fingers lol.
Yah seriously! We had one recently that only had a dumbbell dropped on it (again... Several of those now). No way to get image without full top board/CPU swap. I am still in disbelief that this one worked without needing a full board swap. 😲
You’re a goddamn magician
👍❤️🇮🇪👍❤️🇮🇪👍❤️🇮🇪👍
I thought part of the battery issue was that lithium reacts to either air or water?
Man, that board sure got short with you D:
Most of that will just buff out!!
Jason,
Really dude. these are the repairs that you need to stream my guy. jeeeeeeez. grrr. now gotta go get my fix elsewhere. lol
If your phone tells you, your storage is full. I ignore it. So what can you do.
Jason, how are you, where have you been for the past nine months Your place of work has also changed ?
Hello, I'm doing good. I hope you're doing well! I have been at the bench all day almost every day (including Sundays) but took an unplanned break from all social media. A bit of a min-midlife crisis maybe? During that time we moved the repair shop & RUclips studio a solid 10 feet to the North into the next room.
... ummm... errrrr... da' ya think 'u can have a video without yelling/uttering/whispering "brand spanking new" line? 😊
on the other hand, good job. :D
Since it is Apple, probably not. No but if there is encryption in any nand chip it could be hard.
This guy looks like a meaty version of SciManDan

I once had a customer who ran his iPhone 8 over with kubota back hoe he said after the 5th time he noticed it but when I picked it up the home button burnt my thumb. So he got a new housing screen home button battery rear camera that was 3 years ago he is still using it
Shhhhhhhhh! I do NOT want the owner of this phone reading that and coming back requesting full repair. Lol 😂
@@ststele ah come on butthead every phone needs saved doesn’t matter if it’s a iPhone or android
Sausa pb Brazil
Hello!
Contact the owner and suggest they do not spend a fortune on a name and instead purchase a Rugged Blackview.
Ok. I'm starting to watch and the answer is no. Edit. Ok. Happy ending. Haha
I was surprised at this too! I thought it would have taken a lot more work if it was going to be possible.
I’m not sure what it is but ever since the iPhone 11/12 came out, people are just running over their phones at will!
LOL, yep! Lots of "ran over by car" phones and for some reason, we have had a good handful of dumbbell phones! People leave the phone on the floor next to them at the gym while lifting weights & accidentally drop the weights on the phone! :-o
@@ststele Haha yep people never cease to amaze me!
Why do people carry their cellphone in their back pockets - they bend and the screen breaks - they need a little phone carrier - I have a fanny pack for mine - I keep it in there when I'm out
Oh yeah, that's definitely what caused this
:o)❤
worst vandalized phone I've seen so far - it can be worse? 😂
It's hard to imagine but it does actually get worse. LOL
Hehehe butthead you said vital
Huh huh huh huh
@@ststele as you can tell beavis and butthead was one of my favorite shows growing up, yes I am that old
lol i am surprised you got that working lol, regards .
Yah, I expected this to need a LOT more work!
isnt it good when you dont have to do nothing well look at me bought everything and there is no work lol @@ststele
