The group is Armenian, and this song specifically is talking about the Armenian genocide. B.Y.O.B. in this song isn't "Bring Your Own Beer/Booze", but rather "Bring Your Own Bombs". SOAD frequently has a political air to their songs.
This song is explaining the difference between the elites, the military industrial complex and the common man. The heavy parts are the common man being sent to die in their governments wars. The slower parts(Dancing in the desert) are the elites getting rich and partying. This was written during the Iraq Invasion.
This is from their 2 last albums. Daron sings in most of the songs with his angel voice. "Lonley day" and "Lost in Hollywood" are just amazing songs with Daron as lead singer.
Such a powerful energy jam. Always with a powerful message. "Bring Your Own Bombs." Its about war and how they (government) lie to get us to fight, only sending the poor to fight their battles for them. Amazing band much like Rage Against The Machine another amazing band. Thanx much, Peace
Love watching you discovering SOAD! This song BYOB stands for 'bring your own bombs', it was in protest against the Bush/Cheney Iraq invasion. Very timely subject back when it was released. They also released an anti-war video called 'Boom' you can check out. You should really check out these SOAD songs: Question!, Sugar, Aerials, Hypnotize, Suggestions, Holy Mountains, IEAIAIO, Psycho. Not necessarily in that order😊
"Why do they always send the poor???" ...the anti war sentence of many generations. Ozzy Osborne and his band Black Sabbath sang it back in 1970 in the song War Pigs " why should they go out to fight, they leave that role to the poor". (Black Sabbath is considered by many to be the gateway-to-metal band. ) here we are... 50 plus years later and the same thing is still relevant!!
The 3 Rabbit Holes every new reactor needs to experience are System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, and Beastie Boys. Of course you don't want to miss: Rammstein - Du Hast (Live in Paris) Tool - any song as long as it's live (the videos are visually distracting and you lose the beauty of the audio). Enjoy your exploration!
Your videos are so underrated, what?! For future soad songs I would recommended Aerials, Sugar, Question!, Lonely Day, Hypnotize, Spiders, Prison Song, Forest, Radio/Video if you want something a little crazier, maybe Cigaro, Suggestions, Suite-Pee, U-Fig, Bounce Vicinity of Obscenity, basically all of their songs ❤
You should have experienced them back in the early 2000’s when they were on the radio all day every day. It was a great time for music. It was also when Em and 50 were on top of hip hop too. I would give anything to go back for just a day
Bring Your Own Bombs. There was an epic compellation project on NewGrounds where a bunch of flash animators cut together a flash music video to this song.
I have never heard any one in the comments or that reacts to this video mention that it’s based on an iconic 80’s movie called ‘They Live’. Probably most people are too young to have ever seen the movie, but that’s what the video is based on. (I’m 43, for perspective, lol.)
B.Y.O.B. Bring Your Own Bombs This came out during the war in Iran and Afghanistan. People on the radio were calling this song a protest against the war. They're not wrong. "Why don't presidents fight the war? Why do they always send the poor?" always hits hard.
My first favorite rock group was Megadeth. I never listened to SOAD until my little sister had it as her ringtone. This was a time where if you weren't tuned into the music on a certain radio station , you missed it. I'm into GOOD music be it rock, rap or classics. SOAD is so good, glad your eyes are open to them now.
You mentioned how they are just different from almost any other artist and that of course is true. But I think it's a little bit more extreme than that. These guys will switch up the actual genre of music that they're playing... mid song. Just in this song you go from some of the heaviest metal ever into mainstream rock, to what is essentially a house party hip-hop type groove. Also, this lead singer and the lead singer from another popular rock band (cant remember who but someone will comment who knows) are actually TRAINED in Classical Opera singing.
System is my all time favorite band!! You definitely need to react to: Atwa Holy mountains Question! Radio/video Psycho X Deer dance Violent pornography Old school Hollywood
When you say you feel attacked. Your spot on. Drum beats change up is. Just like war drum beats. Lets you know what you should be doing. Attack or hold the line ect....
Me personally i like the way Serj says "Barbaras" and the way he comes in with the "YOOOOOOOOOOU" and yes i thought that it was a new lead singer but no it's Serj. He had that look from 2004-2006.
The song is structured extremely confrontational. Starts hard, ends hard. Smooth chorus sprinkled throughout. My interpretation is that its supposed to represent the idea of government selling war to Americans and most of them buying it every time. By the way, they are selling two wars to us currently and a bunch of people are buying it. Cheers.
One band that I don’t think a lot of people know about that should definitely get more recognition is La Dispute. I don’t see anyone reacting to them but they are amazing. They’re a rock band and are similar to SOAD. Amazing lyrics and the music is phenomenal. You should react to their song: Said the King to the River. You won’t be disappointed.
Nate it truly touches me that you're getting into the real white person's rock and roll.... It means so much and I'm thrilled that you can finally vibe to it... You're so awesome baby
Aye, some background information on the group! They all about anti-war and generally anti-hate. All of em come from an Armenian background and they have at least 5 songs that talk explicitly about events that took place during the Armenian Genocides, or the ongoing Nagorno-Karabakh War that's taking place in Azerbaijan. This song in particular won them a grammy, and songs like Chop-Suey and Toxicity were what put them on the map. The band fell apart fairly recently due to some major political differences between some of the leads, but Serj has independently worked with a lot of other artists in collaborations. One I recommend is his song Black Thunder, working with the Mongolian folk-rock band The Hu!
It stands for bring your own bombs fron the 4th studio ablum frin the 2000s not as old as you think when toxity nd chop sauy is from the 90s there second studio album it's government that send there poor to war and sit back and watch
System of a Down and Linkin Park are EASILY the two best bands of the 21st century (even though almost all of their success came 15+ years ago). on that note, the Arctic Monkeys' album "AM" is maybe the best rock album of the 21st century
Bring your own bombs, this is off of a later album. Toxicity and Chop Suey was off of their first major release. They are their own genre..... Their first release was 1998
the thesis of this song is pretty straightforward: "why don't presidents fight the war? why do they always send the poor?" the lyrics are loaded with different specific references, both to topics relevant when the song first came out and to more long-term concerns, but it really does boil down to those two lines.
Haha seriously the Gym music isn't that gross to me, but for phases I fall back to listen to this or other ish, others probably wouldn't like to hear, I need to look which one of my headphones work on the gym equipments 😂 😂
This was when SOAD went mainstream when they're record label told them that they wanted the band to pander to a younger generation.. I call it the McDonald's formula.. if they played the role right and pushed their agenda, they would get a Grammy out of it, and they did. All the band wanted was the money and exposure. That's why they haven't been mainstream since.
You should check out Lonely Day. Daron sings a LOT in that one and it's not the screamo like this one. It's so good but a bit of a different vibe. Still amazing.
Just a friendly reminder: PLEASE don't cut every video short, even if it's just for a few seconds. There are so much videos out there, that deserve the full attention of the reactor and often they miss important parts. It's not over, 'til it's over!!
Loving the channel mate! Sub from me! I'll suggest a fun band to check out: Electric Callboy. They are a Techno/Metal band from Germany that are hella fun. Start with the song We Got The Moves or Hypa Hypa and then go from there!
"Why don't presidents fight the war, why do they always send the poor" fire line
This song won a Grammy award! The song is about the Iraq War
But it fits any kind of war and the power of an unmoral system.
The group is Armenian, and this song specifically is talking about the Armenian genocide. B.Y.O.B. in this song isn't "Bring Your Own Beer/Booze", but rather "Bring Your Own Bombs". SOAD frequently has a political air to their songs.
the title means Bring your own Bombs
Bring Your Own Bears by Serj talking himself the meaning
Parody of bring your own bottle perhaps?
Oh , he about to find Slipknot. LetS GO
I gave him a starter list for Slipknot on his Chop Suey video a few days ago...hopefully we'll get some Slipknot videos from him soon!! Lol
~Dancing in the desert, blowing up the sunshine~
This song is explaining the difference between the elites, the military industrial complex and the common man. The heavy parts are the common man being sent to die in their governments wars. The slower parts(Dancing in the desert) are the elites getting rich and partying. This was written during the Iraq Invasion.
This is from their 2 last albums. Daron sings in most of the songs with his angel voice. "Lonley day" and "Lost in Hollywood" are just amazing songs with Daron as lead singer.
Every song so far has been a banger
Lonley Day is smooth and wonderful song but Lost in Hollywood is something else. So underrated. Love it.
Such a powerful energy jam. Always with a powerful message. "Bring Your Own Bombs." Its about war and how they (government) lie to get us to fight, only sending the poor to fight their battles for them. Amazing band much like Rage Against The Machine another amazing band. Thanx much, Peace
Thank you for the insight!
True brother this drummer in insane

Will do for sure, thank you for the suggestions!
Actually later, Serj had long hair with the first album and then cut it when the second album came out and he grew it out again with this album
Yes, the most unique and still great band. Literally no bad song
The 3 Rabbit Holes every new reactor needs to experience are System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, and Beastie Boys.
Of course you don't want to miss:
Rammstein - Du Hast (Live in Paris)
Tool - any song as long as it's live (the videos are visually distracting and you lose the beauty of the audio).

Bring Your Own Bombs. There was an epic compellation project on NewGrounds where a bunch of flash animators cut together a flash music video to this song.
I don't care for music, but I can listen to System and Serj for hours.
I have never heard any one in the comments or that reacts to this video mention that it’s based on an iconic 80’s movie called ‘They Live’. Probably most people are too young to have ever seen the movie, but that’s what the video is based on. (I’m 43, for perspective, lol.)
This song has sad notions, BYOB meant Bring your own Bombs... a reference to the iraq war
Please keep doing your thing!
B.Y.O.B. Bring Your Own Bombs This came out during the war in Iran and Afghanistan.
People on the radio were calling this song a protest against the war. They're not wrong.
"Why don't presidents fight the war? Why do they always send the poor?" always hits hard.
These dudes are hard mountain of diamonds 😊😊😊😊😊😮
"everybody going to the party" means WAR.
Viking - Slaughter to Prevail will blow your mind
3:57. Yes you have! He sang earlier in this song, and he sings a lot in Chop. Fuuuu, bruuuuu!🌿🌸
I absolutely that you're reacting to SOAD!! You have so many more songs to get through. They are phenomenal!!
This is serj from 2005 he grew his hair, toxicity and chop suey came out in 2001 so this is actually him from 4 years later
My first favorite rock group was Megadeth. I never listened to SOAD until my little sister had it as her ringtone. Hypnotize - Holy Mountains .... so many!
Their best song completely
The lyrics are so much more than the music. But the music does bang it hard let’s not lie. But All their songs have great meaning behind them.
It means bring your own bombs(wordplay of bring your own bombs), and it is about the Iraq war
Bring your own bombs!! Great tune!!
Do you think guys he is ready for Slipknot?
