Program Note
This piece was written during a time of great personal turmoil in the composer's life. She felt she had tripped and fallen, and was embarrassed by how much she originally thought she had affected what the people in her life thought of her. Through all of that, she was comforted by the fact that the people who have grown close to her at any time in her life truly KNOW her heart, and no matter how much you think you "mess up," they will still know you for who you are, not for the mistakes we feel we make. Moss found such great solace in this idea and wanted t o express those raw emotions through this piece, which she wrote for one of these people who knows her heart. This work was commissioned by Noah Gordon (BM, MM Temple University), a wonderful trumpet player and an even more wonderful person who this piece would not exist without.
