- President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday criticised comments made by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Davos, reiterating that Greece was arming its Aegean islands and warned the country of actions by 'Crazy Turks'.
Greece and Turkey have been locked in conflict over energy exploration in the eastern Mediterranean and the presence of Greek troops on the eastern Aegean islands.

there are borders between Greece and Turkey. The problem is the Executive Economic Zones (EEZ).
EEZ are maritime regions in which a country has the right in fishing and underwater natural resources. These regions are not territorial waters, but "economic" waters.
Greece has over 5000 islands and islets, Turkey has just 2. Turkey says that the Greek islands doesn't have their own EEZ and it has every right to underwater natural resources in the sea regions of the Greek islands. In simple words, Turkey says that Greece might own the islands, but Turkey owns the sea around and under these islands because many of them are close to the Turkish shores.
Furthermore, Turkey after the 1980s questioned the Greek sovereignty of about 150 Aegean islands and demands from Greece to negotiate about it but Greece rejects such claim and refuse negotiations over sovereignty issues.

Turkiye is not part of the UNCLOS because they are not signatory so you cannot apply to Turkiye that and if apply the partition of will be based on the main island not from the small islands.

If you don’t like it, you can go to the International Court, that you also don’t recognise. This is Turkey’s problem that they do not recognise international agreements and courts. This cannot be a problem for Greece.
There are existing international rules. Turkey cannot try to enforce their own rules by threatening with a war (Casus Belli). This is an illegal act by the UN anyway!

Do you know what “customary international law” means. It means that since UNCLOS has been signed by the most countries on the planet, the countries that have not signed the agreement, have to accept it if it is applied by a signing party!

Turkey is not part of UNCLOS but it use UNCLOS laws in its maritime borders in the Black sea and Mediterranean. I mean it made deals with Georgia, Russia, etc based on UNCLOS laws. Actually, the entire Executive Economic Zones (EEZ) issue is based on UNCLOS.
