I have seen a lot of questions and requests about my UI recently, so I decided to address what a good raiding UI needs, certain addons that everyone who raids should have, and how to optimally use addons.

Guys I ended up adding the weak auras and stuff in the description!!!
Also just to clarify when I say use more than 1 health stone the second one I'm referring to is health pot, i just refer to them both as health stone to make it easier to say and also its how the weak aura functions. the weak aura says 2 = has both available 1 = the player has used one of them 0 = they have used both. when players have one I'll say use "one of your health stones" because i don't really care which one they hit and I don't know which one is up.

Hey Max, I appreciate your content a lot! Thank you for all the tips :) Unfortunately only the healing cds pastebin link is working for me. Anyone has the same problem? Could you maybe upload it again?
It would be interesting to see your perspective on efficiently finding mistakes by going through logs and how to filter correctly for the right stuff... this would help a lot of people that can't figure stuff out while playing.. Finding important debuffs like on Xymox and looking how much healing those targets got for example... How you go about distributing healer cd's over the course of the fight.
I think it would be interesting to see a video where you use an eye tracker while raid leading so we can see what elements of the UI you use during a fight and when!
I would love this style of video where he, in addition to the eye tracker, explains it over a vod of a progression boss or something like that.

As a new Guild Master/Raid leader this has helped me so much! Not just this video... The whole series! So good on the details and advice! We have hit a brick wall at the moment with sire HC and 1/10M but as we have only been raiding together this expansion i am pretty proud up to now! Max you’re on fire. Rn you’re gonna get the early pad subs because all the raiders / twitch gonna flood the subs but as you post more and more the general audience and people trying to trickle into raiding/raid leading and improving those skills you’re gonna blow up further because the way you do your content in terms of being actually relevant in terms of mechanic handling/theory behind effective raid organization are gonna be super crutch cuz of the difficulty curve of this tier relative to nya. (My CE nya guild broke up on HUNGERING last month despite most of the team being 99 parsers on a mythic level due to poor leadership and organization)
One day Blizz is gonna design raid fights with Max's raid leading in mind and they're gonna be sitting at their desks once Limit gets to it on prog, and they'll be rubbing their hands together like an evil fly.

Subject request : How to track raid errors, how to analyse postlogs and find what makes a real difference between a clean pull and a bad one.
For those who have trouble seeing the weakauras from the pastebin links, it seems like the links add a couple of extra characters at the end which break them. You can copy-paste from the description though (or just delete the extra characters on the new tab) and it will work just fine.
These videos came out at the perfect time. I am a competitve player but I dont play WoW maybe one day :) but im starting my own hardcore static in FFxiv. Learning some great tips on how to be a better raid leader

I want to say thank you so much for your insight and advice. I was sucked into a guild and started raid leading with not much preparation at the tail-end of BFA. Shadowlands came around and I'm raid leading (i honestly don't know how i got here, i was lovingly bullied into the position) and I'm lost but doing my best. Thank you so much for your advice and your videos, they couldn't have come at a better time for me and with your videos, I really think that I can become better and effective raid leader that my team can rely on!!

This inspired me as a raid leader to finally move my raid frames as a DPS player to a spot as if I was a healer.
I'd be interested to see tips for avoiding tunnel-visioning onto a certain element of the UI.
As a DPS, I've caught myself being hyper-aware of what's going on in the raid (positioning, upcoming boss abilities, etc) at the cost of losing focus on my own cooldowns/abilities. And vice-versa: spending too much time watching rotation cooldowns, and not properly preparing for the next boss ability.
This is something that is such a pain in the ass for me as well. I have tweaked, re tweaked and then tweaked some more of my UI to try to counter this as best I can. But I often get stuck in that tunnel. This questions interests me too.
This is a big problem I have as well. Concentrating so much on 'boss mechanics' that my up time and CD's suffer, a lot sometimes.
You should have certain things essentially "chunked" into memory.
Your dps rotation should require VERY little thinking by the time you're doing difficult content.
Practice practice practice will really help. There will always be a certain amount of thinking required like when you need to time abilities with other abilities and procs but for the most part, the dps rotation should 80% memorized with your fingers.
And as a dps thats trying to absolutely maximize their damage, this is actually fairly normal anyway. The raid lead should be able to help you NOT THINK. Thats what they are there for. Your job is to dps and theirs is to make it possible for you to auto pilot the boss as much as possible. Of course, sometimes its easy to just ignore calls from a raid lead and panic. I had problems picking out words from people when I was super focused and still do but noticing that I was bad at it let me draw attention and focus on it. It's a lot better now and at least in a game like WoW I'm far better at it to the point it's not much of a problem.
PVP is actually a great way of forcing yourself to just deal with problems head on. Your positioning and calls need to be on point and your rotation needs to be set if you're going to do much. You might want to try PvPing for a couple of weeks and see if that helps.

Dude, loving the content; I'm only a heroic raider, but this is amazingly helpful. Question: You mentioned in a recent video that tanking was the worst role to Raid Lead from; what do you think is the best class/role to raid lead from, and why? (Sorry if you answered this elsewhere, I just haven't seen it. :D )
It's pretty much anything ranged. Tank and melee you are just staring at the bosses balls. Ranged DPS is BY FAR the better option. I've just switched to my old pre-raid leading main (BM hunter) from being main tank and my god is it better.

Im thinking about raid leading from outside the raid since my performance playing and raid leading drops. Should i make one of my raiders have this UI so when he shares is screen i can see or there a way that i can see raidcds and that stuff on my wow without disturbing my raiders UI? BTW the pastebins for the wa do not work for me, i dont know if for anyone else

It is an addon that collects and stores data about the players in your raid, their spells, talents, etc. Other addons use that data to show things like raid CDs.
It makes Zen Tracker, a very popular WeakAura, work.
Any time you see an AddOn that starts with “Lib”, it’s pretty safe to assume that it doesn’t do anything visible on its own, but is used by other addons for what it does in the background with game data. In this case, as people said above, it neatly gathers and processes data about your raid/group for other addons like ZenTracker to use.
Hey max. Thanks for this video. Hope all is well in your world! How do you go about coaching people who don’t know their “rotation” well? I have a family member who I play with and she uses rotation helpers that circle abilities on the action bar... needless to say the rotations it tells her to use are terrible most of the time for WW monk. I’m trying to separate her from the add on and teach her rotations but I’m struggling. Any tips?

Litle question, what are the on frames WA ? (Def Cd and Pot/Hs remaining)
I think a learned skill thats scarce is diagnosing raid problems: like when you're missing dmg checks or timers, going into logs and finding out why that is, who the culprits are, who's "padding" for lack of a better word, looking at players talents/rotations etc. Is this something you might be able to talk about? I'm not even sure how much of a task that is for world first guilds since I assume players are more self-moderating than in guilds where a parse means more than killing the boss in some cases for us US top 100 and below players hahaa xD
@Limit Maximum You say that LibGroupInSpecT-1.1 is necessary (I assume for the weakauras to pull the information they need?). Does it also require the LibStub and CallbackHandler, as it says on its website or no? (Those two have not been updated in a few years)

By going into the dbm settings (/dbm) you can change where to have the timers
How to set people showing boss ability order like altimor arrows or rimornia cut for 1-2-3 show ?

On your dps UI, i think it's atrocity's UI, what is the WA icon that shows up to the left of your health bar, that you are standing in AMZ and have AMS up? I saw it on the undercover raiding vid as DK.

Hi Max, Do you know of a weakaura that works to track time in combat? I have looked for a few but they all say no longer supported. I want to be able to track how far into an encounter I am so if I can modify when I am using CDs if ever needed.

How do you deal with brain worm like in raid? We get really far into sire on heroic but then we wipe due to a healer or 2 being out of position or something then every pull after that is progressively worse because people are just not dealing with things (ads phase 1, phase 2, no one soaking). Zug brain/ brain worm/ priest casting mind smooth, how do you get it out?
Links in the descriptions for weakauras not working for anyone else? Only one that seems to work is the healing cd one for me.

Hi Max. Why do you say that having the raid frames in the middle for healers is important? I have mine on the left side (like you do for your DPS UI), and I've tried switching to the middle but it was difficult after so many hours with the previous set up.
Is there any reason why you think in the middle is better than on the side? The middle setup is so common that I think I'm probably missing out, but considering how hard it is to switch, I'd like to hear some rationale on it.
Hey great video and enjoying the content. Currently my guild is starting progress on Sludgefist mythic and I am trying to set up my ERT profile like yours, where I have the personal cd's tracked separate from the healing cd's and I cant seem to be able to configure it in my ERT. Wondering if anyone has some tips on this or mabye a profile string i could copy?
What add-on are you using for health bars and can you share your profile, I honestly tried looking for it watching world first race, with no luck 🙁
It looks like the resto shaman's UI is shifted up with black space at the bottom for a wider view. How do you do that?
