I've had a Nautilus and now a Gen 2 Overseas. At the time I loved the Nautilus and while iconic, I now find the design a bit of its time. The VC has been a reliable companion, and it always gives me joy when I wear it. It's just one man's opinion but I think the VC feels more contemporary. I like a lot about the Gen 3 Overseas but prefer the more intricate dial of the Gen 2.
Nautili are unicorns and ridiculously priced. Overseas are more humanely priced, and I like the wet paint look, a real ferrous hairspring you can adjust, 3 interchangeable straps & and bracelet, and the Poinçon de Geneve stamp on both case and movement.
The Nautilus price is absurd. It's a function of irrational exuberance, which you can never really predict. Even if I could, I'm not sure I'm willing to make a $200k bet on exuberance. Aesthetically the VC is the better looking watch in my mind. Technically, I also think the VC wins. The fact that it's actually somewhat attainable is also a huge plus.
I still cannot see how anybody can find a Nautilus attractive. My taste in watches has shifted considerably over the years and several watches I used to dislike have even appeared in my collection. Still no closer with the Nautilus - but I do own that same Overseas.

Got offered the Overseas in blue last week by the AD in London, but turned it down as I just bought a Root Beer, gutted as I love it but it’s a lot of money for a watch that I would struggle to sell if I needed the money, I’ve heard that more people are now being offered these, when I asked in Selfridges a couple of years ago about the blue model, they looked at my like I was 💩. What goes around comes around. Plus you can go grey cheaper now, especially the white or black models
I absolutely love watches, the high end watch brands are out of my budget but the AMZWATCH has literally an almost duplicate of every single watch on the market . Always a great but no matter your budget.
Would’ve been nice to compare the PP against the updated Overseas 4520 which is thinner and has a tapered bracelet to see if it changes the wearing experience.
Price makes the choice easy. 200 plus for a watch feels obscene. Gen 2 overseas is one of the best buys out there. Particularly pre covid. I slightly regret not getting one. I opted for a 56 new , which I do like very much but I think an overseas will have to be done one day.
There is a smaller version, but the proportions don’t look as good, so yes, a 39mm Overseas might just be the Goldilocks, if Vacheron Constantin is listening
The Overseas takes it for me. I owned a 1995 5711 and I have to say that the later versions to the year they stopped making them have improved very much, particularly the movement calibre as the 335 SC I had was inferior to the Royal Oak and Overseas of the same era. There are other Genta-esq alternatives and one has to decide is one going for aesthetic, quality of craftsmanship, quality of movement with specification as well as durability and or price value for money. It will be likely a combination of all of those facets. There is no wrong or right answers as it will be subjective. These are luxury sports watches and not utilitarian as they are too refined for vigorous activities and their elegance make these Genta-esq models are designed mainly in relaxing environments.
My watch was purchased 2 years ago from MAMACOO and, to this day, it still looks and runs as well as it did the day it arrived. That movement has never missed a beat despite never having been serviced. I can't complain about that.
@@porscherain I was being too harsh, I do love the standard 41mm stainless and white gold especially the ultra thin and the minute repeater but can’t stand the more gaudy versions with straps and especially the Offshore, reminds me of Hublot
I would buy the VC with the blue face, that blue in real life is not really the same as what we see on a picture or a video. I own a Triple calendar VC and the people at the boutique were fantastic and I tried on all kinds of VC watches that day and there are about 5 I want to own.
This is a great example of the limits of video: in person, on the wrist, the Nautilus looks like a complex, highly detailed, and an intriguing mix of matte, polish, and a beautiful bracelet. Yeah, of the three (VC, Patek, AP) the Nautilus looka like the blandest band | bracelet ON VIDEO; but in person: 🤯 💯 The Overseas does look better, though: very elegant and more modern looking. Again, that’s ON VIDEO. If you can get the chance: put a Nautilus | Overseas on your wrist ! I loved the AP RO 41mm ON VIDEO: at the boutique I couldn’t take it off fast enough- too darn big looking and the links looked and felt like small bricks on my wrist. The RO is all about the Jumbo (15202 | 16202): that is quintessential, classic, and yet modern RO.
Overseas bracelet needs to taper a bit and trim the case size to 40mm atleast , don’t mind lack of hacking seconds but for most its a big deal so modify the movement for hacking seconds. Just saying because i think vacheron sometimes listens to customers . Overseas has lot of potential to be perfect sport watch but not as it is now .
The VC is sharp and clean and the PP is plain and boring IMO. Both have the steak but VC also has the sizzle. And then with the cost, I would choose the VC every time.
Might not be the more sensible choice but I would go for the Nautilus, it’s a more iconic watch and it sits better on the wrist. I love the olive green dial and the bracelet. But for $295k can’t justify it compared to the VC which is as good if not better in terms of quality.
I've recently began my obsession as a watch collector. And i must say- out of all the luxury brands I've been researching, for me the MAMACOO's watches are the most intriguing.
The Patek Phillipe “Nautilus 5711/1A-014” -- with the olive green dial -- the only time-piece one needs, par excellence. It is perfect. Period. The designer was ahead of his time ;)
Plenty of watch enthusiasts buy what they love, Tim. I’d argue that the vast majority do. Sure the normies only buy Patek, AP and Rolex but eventually they’ll learn that nobody really cares.
I'm not a fan of the OS, to my eye it looks bulbous and two minute/ seconds tracks are just way too much. I think it would look a lot bigger if they just put seconds on the chapter ring and took them off the dial. 5711 for me, green is my color and while its beyond overpriced and overhyped, I could live with that one. The OS, just not for me though if I'm getting a Patek Phillipe, its going to be a dress watch.
It's sad that watches that look good cost over 1k+. MAMACOO watches are REALLY well made, and it just shows how a brand name on a watch can make its price 10x higher. I understand that if you look under a microscope, you'll find the difference, but just how many of you really inspect a watch at that level when you see someone with a watch?

I’m loving these versus videos. 🙌🏼
Me too!!!
VC with the blue face is gorgeous.
I love the intricate detail on the VC dial.

I bought my Overseas after watching your videos on it Tim. My favorite piece in my collection
I enjoyed my VC blue over the PP. VC is more your own enjoyment. PP is nice too but to tell others your status.
The Vacheron is a fantastic watch. The Patek is a mystery: as in "Why do people buy this thing?"
Versus series are very entertaining! Great watches !

Love this. The VC is just better.
VC needs to release an ultra thin (

We need the overseas in 39mm!

Definitely the overseas for me
I hadn't realized the steel VC comes with 2 clasps. With the gold version you just get a pin buckle. Now I'm feeling short-changed 😒

I’ll take the VC. But just because of $.. I just like it better.
Love all 3 but feel like I could wear the VC everyday especially with there included straps
would love to see the 4520v compared to the nautilus

Haha. Both bezels are so polished, you see Tim’s hands doing the Talking Hands thing. 😄
I had a brown dial and loved it but… they have to fix the micro extensions on the bracelet to be able to lock so they don’t slide out.
The brown dial is a beauty, pity it had such a short run.
@@troylim1069 when I bought it... Watchbox sold it to me to for 14K... at the time in 2019, nobody wanted it!
You could have compared the VC ultra thin at 7.5 mm thin it beats the nauti in fit.
VC. Also Tim using every opportunity to hate on AP 😂
Yeah noticed that😂 but they are shite tho…
@@santorini8423mate how is the RO shite? The finishing is better than PFN and VCO.

Although both are out of my budget, this comparison made me see the VC in a new light and I would probably go for that one. Also, 300,000 for the PP?
Make it the black dial Overseas DT with the pointer date and I'm sold.

I am lucky enough to own both the Patek 5811g and the Brown Dial VC Overseas 4500. For me, they are both incredible, but the VC takes the win.
You are indeed lucky. Beautiful watches. 👍🏻
I have had variations of both and disagree. The vc is more like an aquanaut to me, it’s bigger. I want a slimmer watch and the Patek does it

@@leochan9439 i have a 4500v and bought a 4520v bracelet for it. Fantastic upgrade
The Nautilus case looks like a sanitary pad with those wings either side.
Left side leaflet is extra. White VC all the way
The overseas in 39mm with a thinner movement would wipe PP and AP

Interesting...the overseas is slightly better overall on paper .... But ~$20k vs 300k .... (Even the normal blue dial 5711 is ~100k, 5 times more ..😮)
The Vacheron is hands down the winner here.
VC clear winner 🏆
VC all the way ❤! A real man’s choice
IMO it’s wild that the VC doesn’t hack at over $20k…
Blue dial Overseas is Goated
10 Overseas or 1 Nautilus?
Sell 10 Overseas. Take Seiko take on Scrooged AP
Lange odysseus.
Can't go wrong with either, but Patek for me.
VC, on black rubber.
Overseas for sure, best bracelet in the market. I never through nautilus is a good looking watch.
Hype around the Nautilus will never fade away, but the Overseas is better looking imho
VC for me 🎉
Awesome watches

VC but the size is too big. Nautilus wears better, I had both, and I loved the way Nautilus wears
wow great video. Love this vs video.
Give me the VC any day of the week.
VC Just because it isn't another GG.
Vacheron... Ftw!
VC IS THE WINNER. PATEK HYPE ONLY.
VC for me, please!
VC all day long
VC for the win! 💪
if breathtaking was a physical object it would be this nautilus
VC all the way

None of them. If overseas the 1st gen. If nautilus a 3800. Lacks a royal oak at that comparison..
