Can take a double as one .. show the bottom card..while turning down to place it on the table..do a tenkai palm ..and then grab the deck, placing the shown card on top..finally dribble cards over card on table to make it seem like the card went up

I usally do 4 to 5 phases and the way I end it is by showing the spectator that I bend the card put it in the middle and magically jump to the top. very visual, but when I am feeling ballsy what I would do is have a foulded up card with a paper clip stored in my wallet and when I feel like it I can control their card to the bottom, do a mercury card fold and cleanly remove the paper clip to show that that's their card and it has been sitting in my wallet the whole time.

It's not just a simple tutorial for a trick, but you're diving deep into the effect, what makes it powerful, involve some psychology, and leave room for creativity. I think more people should pay attention to this!

Great video Chris, this stuff really helps a beginner like me, polish my routine when people ask me to show them some thing. Typically I’ll start off with a double lift, put the top card in the center and then spin their card on one finger as the “ magic gesture “. But then I go on to a completely different affect. This is definitely getting me thinking of what else I can do. Can you do a tutorial on that flourish?

You know, one thing I really love about your videos is that you help people with the routine and conversation, because it's a bit more difficult to act 'magical' when you know how a trick is done. While my audience is admittedly just my friends and family, I find that the conversation is the key element to getting more engagement. So I really appreciate your efforts in highlighting this aspect.

Great video and good to see some Ramsay lessons again! I really liked the structure too and leaving the last step for the viewers to come up with. it’s a great way to teach people and get them to bring in some of their own creativity. When I mess around with the ACR I do the following,
    1 - Alex P’s turnover pass
2 - Marlo Tilt & spectator cuts the deck/hikes card
3 - Bent Card to finish it off usually
I have other variations I try out but these are usually my go to. Keep it up Chris and much respect ✊

70 yrs ago, at school, I made the mistake of showing off some card skills
and then playing poker with a drunk psychopath who nearly attacked me with
a gin bottle. Like you, I didn't cheat, just got lucky or unlucky in this case.
About 30 years later I ran into his roommate, Larry, at a restaurant. I asked
him "What ever became of Frank?"
"He killed his drill sergeant and is a lifer in Leavenworth." Wow!
So I guess I had a close call! The hand that I'll never forget? I dealt myself four trays.

I love what you said about "it doesn't matter which card you choose". Whenever I do use a line like that I like to make a joke about it. When I spread the cards I say "pick a card but don't let me influence your decision" at that point I make a card (any card) protrude from the spread and comically move it around visually and obviously so that the card is under their finger wherever they point. They laugh I do it another time or two. They laugh again and I move on with a real selection. It's a great way to loosen an audience up for some fun right off the bat.

It may be basic, but Ambitious Card is my favorite trick of all time. It’s what got me hooked on magic as a kid, and a Tommy Wonder’s performance is what made me want to do it seriously.
I haven’t performed in a while, but I loved to close with it using a variation of the Wonder routine. I also introduce the box earlier on, so that the audience starts to forget about it until the big reveal.

    • @dmr778810
      @dmr778810 5 лет назад +5

If Mahdi Gilbert can perform, I highly doubt you have anything to worry about. Cards are not about palming entirely. Think about it like this. The gambler's cop, or the tenkai palm, both are extremely visible from certain angles. The solution for this? _Misdirection._ As famous magician's would state in lectures, "With this kind of misdirection, you could lead an elephant into the room with nobody noticing." Take a look at "Man disappears on the beach" with Disturb Reality. They're too distracted counting cards to notice him run off.
Keep up your techniques, and work on misdirection. Your magic will be amazing before you know it. If someone catches you, as long as they're not a dick about it, laugh it off. Note where they are, where they look, and how to negate that. Good luck.

  • @Rom0.5
    @Rom0.5 5 лет назад +2

It’s funny because I used to look down on this routine like it’s boring as hell until recently when I figured out it was not because of the routine but because of me.
It’s easy to do, it’s so simple anybody can follow it even on loud environment, it’s impromptu and it’s much stronger than I used to believe. I love it.
I like to end the routine on phase 3 with the bend thing, but if they ask for more, or « how? » I just say it is sleight of hand, and do a pass with the card face up. Then I do a tilt and one handed palm, I pocket this card as they react and I am set up for my card to pocket routine.
So I kind of split my ambitious in two separate times : first three phases are more « Performance », then it’s more like explaining the trick, sleights... and it fits my way of performing the Card to pocket that I set up so I can go to something different.
I love this kind of videos, seems like halfway between your tutorials and videos when you shared your ideas on propless mentalism for example. Love it !

9:49 THAT shit blew my mind!!! waaaaat?! Smooooth!!! Wish I'd knew how to do that!!! Can't even imagine how much you practiced to make it look so natural and perfect.
WAAAAT?!!? GUYS go here 9:48 and slow-mo 0.25 and check THAT out!! WOW!!! SOO FRICKIN' SMOOTH MATE. I watched them 10 seconds from 9:48 like 10 times. Only managed to see what was actually happening AFTER i slow-mo it to 0.25. Again; SMOOOOTH!!!!
I can't NOT subscribe. You, my friend, you really are something aren't you ?
But regarding that scene (at 9:58 to be precise), what if they check to see the card you gave them ? I mean i know that usually they do what you tell them to but what if at that point they check the card and instead of their card it's another one? What do you do then ? O.o I mean I'm sure you have a plan B for that; I'm just curious how would you handle the situation because it's not that you can play dumb. Not at your level. Generally speaking I'm sure that for every moment like that you have a plan B, isn't it ? Because of the unpredictability of the persone you have in front of you that could potentially ruin your trick out of genuine curiosity.
If you red this thanks for your attention! Looking forward to readinig your answer!! :D
Meanwhile, WOW, I have to see all your videos dude. This shit is awesome!!

Oddly enough I haven't done any magic in years....and I actually just started getting back into it. I performed ACR yesterday for some people and blew them away. I typically do only 3 phases.....4 at the most. I do a get ready basic turnover while they are signing the card...then the Marlo Tilt....Sometimes I'll combine the tilt with a color change by putting the card in face up then the color change reveals it face up. The third or fourth varies...but I'm liking the idea of adding an impossible location....back to the drawing board for me.

Wicked slights; the pass is so fast there aren't enough frames in the video to even see it happen, and your palm of the PAWS card at the end was squeaky clean, I watched it like 90 times and can't see it happen. So impressed.

Before considering the bent/pop up card or a Kennedy box, my version just starting out would be placing the card in the middle, bringing to top, then a Marlo tilt. Both Step 1 & Step 2, I'd do a little riffle of some kind that EVERYONE assumes is the source of the sneakiness....and then ("very fairly") placing the card slowly on a table and dribbling the entire deck on top with just their chosen card left in my hand as the top card. I never tried with a signed card - but loved that the entire thing was avail for inspection to rule out doubles. Signed card to impossible location is always a closer, though.

Chris at 8:37 that's exactly how I do it I ALWAYS have the spectator take the deck and choose a card when I do the ambitious trick..that way they see there's no duplicates..and it's more believable if they handle the deck ya know.

I usually do 3 phases, first i do a dps for a card to pocket, then i flip the top card while talking to them and get a double lift set. Then for the 3rd i do a mercury card fold for card to mouth. I love making people look at the deck as long as possible until they realize that their folded card is in my mouth😂 love this video, looking forward to your next one!!!
