I started to listen to Circles a while back. Then after listening to their music for a few months I went to a music club in my city (in Europe) to see another band (not Circles) without paying attention to the whole lineup. I lost my shit when I heard the first tones of "Breaker" and turned around to see The Circles playing right in front of me, in a small club in eastern Europe, 16 thousand miles away from Australia. I met the guys after the show, bought a vinyl and got it signed. Best. Night. Ever.
These guy's palm mute tone is absurdly good.

This song is fucking fantastic, end to end. But, these guys are one of the few bands I'm listening to with vocals right now. These vocals are just perfect, though. I've really just been digging instrumental djent lately, but these guys do djent just the way I like it. Like, that groove at 2:08 and what it builds into? Oh my fucking lord, man. Yes.

The label is surely widening its musical scope lately, branching out from strictly extreme metal. While I can appreciate the skills here, this is not for me!

Season of Mist has always had some of the most diverse and eclectic music? Like, yeah they've signed a lot of big names in extreme metal, like Horrendous.. But they've always had these more eclectic pieces too. Ne Obliviscaris (well, they are extreme metal, but they are still unique), Sylvaine, These guys, Crippled Black Phoenix, Kontinuum. None of them are extreme metal except NeO.
@Hiraeth : The bands you mention are fairly recent though if I am not mistaken, NeO being maybe a little more ancient. I honestly discovered all the other bands you've mentioned only this year... More power to the label if they succeed in broadening their niche, especially in these times of challenge for the music industry. It's just that when I think of Season Of Mist, it's bands like Mayhem, Rotting Christ, Inquisition, Craft, Deströyer 666, 1349, ore more recent Alkaloid, Archspire and others that come to mind. So it's been surprising these past few moths to hear some softer music when checking out new tracks released by the label (some of which I liked!).
That's fair. I guess they are slightly more recent. I just kind of always associated SoM with more eclectic stuff. Then again, I only really got into the label in maybe 2014ish. So I guess the entire time I've been into the label, they've been branching out a bit more, which is why to me it just seemed like they always have.
