- ToyTec Boss and SPC upper control arms after 50,000 miles. I completely disassemble the suspension lift components to inspect all the moving parts. We found good, bad, and the ugly in this Toyota 3" lift long term review. After 50,000 miles everything should be well "worn in".
The alignment washer on the upper ball joints are set in the "C" position.

Great video, Mark. I always love seeing the FJ, it looks like the FJ is holding up very well. Keep up the great work and adventures, cheers.
Thanks, will do!
In my experience stick with all OEM Toyota parts. Aftermarkets just don't compare. Thanks for the update and tutorial. 👍😊
Love these 'How it's been' videos
Thanks!
TorqueStripe or Metron Marker will work well to detect any change in the fasteners orientation over time.
Nice…
Gonna have to look at my ‘11 Tacoma suspension for wear also…
Another good video. But omg the rust 😳 Gotta love Midwest winters
Tell me about it
Enjoy ur content 👍. Could you maybe enlighten us on the failures of the charcoal canister emissions system? Rumor it can cause major issues?
Great suggestion!
Those look like poly bushings with inner sleeves I don’t think they need to be torqued at full load level, the inner sleev is free moving and isn’t mated to the poly bushings so you can torqued them with it jacked up
50K in 7yrs????? I thought y’all did a lot of driving. I do 50K in 1yr
I feel ya .
Since we got the 4Runner in 2017 the FJ hasn't been driven as much.
What brand is your wheels and tires sir?
Comparing your body mount chop video to this video, I see that the steel plate you welded on isn't there anymore. Did it remove it for some reason? How long have you been running it without the steel plate, and has that caused any issues?
I'm interested in doing a BMC but local welders want $600 to do that job. I'm wondering if I can get away without welding on a new plate???
You caught us! LOL After the initial chop we found it needed a more aggressive one. We do recommend welding a piece in to keep the integrity of the mount.
Do you prefer to remove a coilover that way on a 4runner or lower the whole lower control arm ?
This way is much easier
Do you have 33" or 35" tires? If you have 35" have you had any problems with your rear differential?
Thanks,
33", no problem with this older diff.
I noticed the FJ has wheel spacers on all 4 wheels. Could you have wheel spacers just on front or rear?
I suppose you could. We have the spacers because the wheels we have rub the front calipers a little bit.
Yes you can. I had to run rears to clear some remote resis. I eventually ordered fronts to even out the track. Nothing that would harm it, I noticed the diff and it bugged me. No one else noticed till I pointed it out. But I knew lol.
Unless you need the wheel spacers for upper a-arm clearance they will make the rubbing at the back of the wheel opening worse...... Scrub Radius increases dramatically with the spacers.
Thanks
What is the brand of the ball joint separator tool you used on the passenger side tie rod please?
I've had it so long I don't remember where I got it, sorry.
