I don't know. It's difficult to be sure. For example if a child abuser gives a sweet to a child before trying to abduct them off the street, the parent is rather likely to throw that sweet away rather than having the child eat and enjoy it. To the same degree perhaps if the only reason Jimmy Savile did all of these charitable things was to enable him to get close to vulnerable people to abuse then perhaps those things he did might elicit a similar response.
