Nice review, Joe! I work at a Chevy dealership and we’re still waiting for our first trailblazer, but with the factories shut down we may not see one for a while yet.
It doesn’t look too bad. The red and black color combo always looks good. The rims don’t look too shabby. The engine looked like it belonged in a go cart. The Hyundai Kona seems to be the highest rated SUV in the subcompact category. This Trail Blazer probably won’t be a bust. It should do ok. Thanks for the review. The wife will put this on her list. The list currently has the Kona, CX-3, and the Encore. Thanks for the review Joe.
As usual Joe great review. Think my favorite with this vehicle is the CVT....most people may not like this transmission but it works well in our corolla and it is very fuel efficient
Because people are buying crossovers in every size and price point. Sedans are dead, unfortunately. To me it’s a nice competitor to others like a Seltos, Kona, CX30, and Compass. Not the smallest suv in the lineup, but not as large as the “compact” like the equinox, Sportage, CX5 etc.
This thing was very strangely optioned. I know that GM Korea originally designed this to have dual-zone climate control and ventilated seats, both of which were cut for the NA release. Also, their base RS is completely loaded at $27k while this version basically locked away half of the stuff behind a wall of extra options, driving up the price to nearly $33k to completely spec it out. This might just be some shady thing Chevy did to boost profits in the US market. Also, about the back. That lip you were talking about was so shallow because you had the cargo floor raised. If you put it down to the lower position, there's a pretty sizable lip back there.
Oki Nearly $33K?? You could easily get a nicely optioned Rav4, CRV, Escape, well anything bigger than this lol. You could even get a base model Honda Passport for that money
and its a Ecotech engine, and on top of that turbos pushes in more of the recycled oil from blow by, yikes that engine will be gunked up with carbon build up at 50K, I guarantee you that!
I love Joe's reviews, very fun and entertaining and he covers every detail. Reviewers get to drive so many different vehicles I am sure it is hard to find positives in a sub $30K vehicle versus a $80K vehicle. I recently bought a 2023 Trailblazer RS FWD ( in the south you would have to order AWD). The CVT gets a lot of scorn and ridicule in the reviewer community, and in a lot of cases it is earned. When did the test drive I was surprised at the peppiness of the little 3 cylinder engine. Technology these days allows them to get the most out of a small engine. The CVT on the Trailblazer does not give you fake shifts that actually will tend to slow the momentum on others I have driven. You get on the freeway to merge and you punch it and you just go, there is no drama with a downshift and you don't feel it, but you lookthn down and suddenly you are doing 80. Same with passing, you are going 75 and you pass and next thing you know you are 90 mph. No drama means not as much fun and not exciting. Entry level performance cars are going to run you about $5K more, so if you are wanting performance and then spend the extra. For what it is, I found it to be a good value. If you are looking for a pleasant driving experience, good gas mileage and some utility and like the styling of the TB then I think it is a good value.
I totally concur; We bought a 23 LS with FWD, & the 1.2 engine with the CVT trans. & it truly is the best bang for the $$.$$$ . & this was after test driving a LT with the 1.3, 9 speed auto. trans. & AWD Other than the price there was no noticeable difference in ride or performance. The only option we got on the LS was cruise control.
I just bought a new trailblazer 10 days ago. Since it doesn’t have any towing capability, I kept 2004 for that purpose. With plans to upgrade drive train for that purpose. New one is good enough for a daily driver. I have other types of vehicles for other duties.
I love this car. Just took mine driving across country in the winter blast. Did not slide one time in the mountains. And was able to drive faster then alot if other cars and trucks. All the gadgets practically drives itself on the open road. And fill up was never over $25. Your review sucks. I love my 2021 blazer
I visited Florida for the first time in May 2020 and stayed at a hotel in Clearwater off 19. I wasn't paying attention to where this was located, but knew it immediately when you started doing the test drive LOL. I was like, I WAS THERE!
I had a 2005 trailblazer ext with the 5.3 liter pushrod V8 and a third row of seats. I bought it new in 2006 and it was a great off roader. Thanks for doing this review Joe, you're looking handsome as ever 😍
Chevy manager:” I know your guys are good designers but can we make something that no one would buy? “ Designers:” Wow, that’s sounds challenge to me.”
Joe, thanks for the video. I've been looking at buying this. I love the red exterior but I'd probably get the racer blue color, pano roof and the black wheels. The body cladding with the piano black trim looks better too.
Well I just watched this video after the fact of buying one last week. Although my RS came with AWD and the 9 speed transmission, which I think is a must instead of the CV transmission. Also he failed to show you how you can lower the back deck to another 2" lower so that your soup cans don't roll out when you open your hatch. This car was for my wife so the 1.3LT Turbo is good enough for her, not like she's gonna run it at the local dragway. So only been a week but we are both satisfied with this new Chevy Trailblazer and at the time of this writing as he mentioned he didn't know if it would be a hit with GM but it is, the RS only has a 29 day turnaround on the dealers lot. Chevy did hit this Trailblazer on the nail.
You sound like a bust because if you knew what you were talking about you would be saying the opposite about the Trailblazer. You can put what you want into these Kick Ass machines. They are tough and worth every penny, so get a life and learn before you speak.
15:22, this was a missed opportunity to showcase the trailblazers dropping trunk floor, it has 3 stages of elevation. It appears in the middle here. I prefer the lowest.
@@AbdullahHood Trust me I was! I am so disappointed of how they took the name of the Trailblazer and stuck on this. They need another SUV in their lineup like I need another whole in my head.
I have a 2006 trailblazer, bought it new. Have had zero major issues with it. I love it. Still drive it every day and it's never let me down. Did have some electrical issues with interior lighting but it was a very minor problem. Might be time to upgrade...
I hate it...$26,000 and 2 options for 3-Cylinder engines that are dangerously slow even for the Trax, cloth seats, hard plastics/Rubberized material, and a CVT. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. I wasn’t expecting anything fast but c’mon, they should have given it a turbo 2.0L or something to get you up to speed for merging safely onto the highway. I am disappointed by it to be totally honest, the Kona and the Seltos, and even the Ford Ecosport have bigger engines and are still getting between 25-33MPG. I really don’t expect this car to last long...
Great review, Joe! I wish that GM would offer the same equipment as the Trailblazers corporate cousin, the Buick Encore GX. For example the surround view cameras, rearview camera mirror and heated steering wheel. This one seems cheap af, no rear passenger connectivity... it’s 2020... I guess this will be a good replacement for Chevys Cruze buyers since the Cruze is no more.
Not everybody needs their vehicle to make up for shitty driving. And they do have heated steering wheels and a rear view camera that's better than the little mirror one.
I don’t see a reason to pick this over the Hyundai or Kia alternatives. Unless you have to have this for the styling or the wireless Apple CarPlay. But the competitors from Korea bring a lot of value to the table
I had a rental of this for a 3 days. Im quite surprised how that 3cyl spooled up. Its decent, and manageable, lots of room rides like a boat, harsh ride , but its a decent ride. Im seriously considering buying if its around 20k
Looks like an equinox with different emblems kind of like the Cadillac Escalade basically is a avalanche pick up just higher price and the engine lights still come on when warranties out
Ladies will love this. everything nowadays about crossovers like the explorer had become. sedan sales goes down coz of this things. anyway the plastic sidings are ugly upto to the interior JEsus chevy ! messing up the car more. even the fuel consumption wont be a big much difference
Great video, thank you Rati!! Personally I think it looks cool from the front , but man that side view looks like straight Nissan Kicks/Hyundai Kono. I do like it though that they tried to sproose up the interior with some cool/sporty bits!!
I just watched the review on the Trailblazer and I'm glad. This is one of the vehicles I'm considering along with the Nissan Kicks. I think it's important to mention that many people, like me, are looing for a small vehicle for metro area driving that has a higher profile than your standard sedan. I feel uncomfortable driving a vehicle with a low profile that so close to the road. I sat on this vehicle and I felt good about not being sunken in. What have I decided? I have decided to pray so the current microchip nightmare ends. Right now there are NO NEW CARS cars in the South Florida Metro area.
It doesn't look TOO bad, but dear GOD that interior is horrible!!! Especially around the screen! One of the worse I've EVER seen. Just like a 1991 Chevy Cavalier. xD
Kool Kitties then u think about when the Jetsons came out it was based on 50yrs in the future too n we don’t have flying cars now lol. We won’t in another 50 either. Not like they had.
15:16 Personally I like the high loading floor and the little/no lip. You'd want those if you're hauling some pavers for your small backyard project. It'll save your back. However, the cargo floor looks a bit thin. Not sure how much weight it can support.
one of the funniest reviews ever. Great video, would love to buy a car from this guy, seriously funny dude. Super detailed and love the humor that was incorporated.
Test drove a new 2021 LS model today.. sticker price $23k with the 138hp turbo engine......I was really shocked at how peppy it was and the CVT was X-Lent also. The engine was very smooth and quiet. {Don't knock it till you test drive one.}
Could you compare the old trailblazer vs the new trailblazer? Id love that. But could you get an ext model if you compare the two? The ext has 3 rows of seats. Thank you brother!
My husband I saw this at the Chicago Auto Show and we both walked away shaking our heads. We own a 2019 Equinox and we love it. Hes former teammate owned a 2003 Trailblazer and it was tank! That car drove as great as my 2015 Cruze I owned! Im sorry that Chevy rereleased this in such a crappy model! Chevy release a SUV we can all love and enjoy or redo this and the Blazer!
I keep leasing a RAV4 because nothing can compete with it (Toyota Safety Sense V2 has it all, and Raiti's reviews seem to miss that super important option; Doug D. points that out and emphasizes it). I looked at Chevy and Buick SUV's but they are more expensive with less options. I hope Chevy doesn't abandon their one SUV that seems to be competing with the RAV4 and the CRV (the Equinox).
WOW another ignorant AH who knows kids stuff, the Trailblazer is a well built Vehicle that you can build your self and put what ever you want, and is plenty tough enough to go off road if you want to go camping and on a family trip. Because that's what we are talking about here is family and the American Vehicle in Chevy the most dependable Vehicle on the road today. And Chevy will back that up. I think you should go back to school R joseph and learn what your talking about because from here and every where else you know a big NOTHING.
@@josephhartman6283 the only thing you can depend on with a GM vehicle is, that it'll turn into an underwater money pit after 60,000 miles. Nobody is buying Government Motors anymore because they're just union-made trash!. Keep bein' a fool
I'm liking the fact that you're not trying to shill for Chevy- being bluntly honest is refreshing! BTW, once I heard: 3 cylinder, CVT and Start/Stop(on a 3 cylinder no less), I immediately stopped being interested. This is nothing but a tarted up station wagon. "Simulated Shifts"?!?🤣😂 DEFINITELY not a "Trail Blazer"- unless your Trail is to a Mall or Grocery store.
@@RaitisRides No offense, but, the words Car Salesman is usually a punchline.... In your case, you are giving an honest assessment of a vehicle you happen to sell. Well done.
As a Owner of a 08 Trailblazer SS this new Trailblazer is a Bust for me. With Mopar Killing everything with the Hemi / SRT line, Chevy could have least tried to compete!!
They tried so hard to compete with the Subaru Crosstrek and Forester Sport trims with that styling. But with the FWD model MSRP'ing at around the same as one of the models I mentioned, someone would be insane to buy one of these, less options for the same amount of money. My Forester Sport came with a sunroof, and the seats are more comfortable. I used to be a Chevy fan and owned a 2014 Malibu at one time. But when you're talking crossovers, there's no point IMO in making them FWD (as you take the MPG hit from a higher profile anyway and many people who buy crossovers want to drive them in the dirt and snow). I think Subaru has it right in making them AWD standard. It standardizes the components of the AWD more, allowing the price to come down a bit. I think a lot of other brands will struggle against Subaru in the segment until they make the same move.

AGREED!
May be because Chevy is slowly moving away from making Sedans. Who knows.
Maybe they will discontinue one? To me, this vehicle is targetted at the Jeep Cherokee or similar...
Because people are buying crossovers in every size and price point. Sedans are dead, unfortunately. To me it’s a nice competitor to others like a Seltos, Kona, CX30, and Compass. Not the smallest suv in the lineup, but not as large as the “compact” like the equinox, Sportage, CX5 etc.
yeah i think they're going to stop making the trax.
Thanks for that great info and perspective.
Oki Nearly $33K?? You could easily get a nicely optioned Rav4, CRV, Escape, well anything bigger than this lol. You could even get a base model Honda Passport for that money
$33,000 for a 3 cylinder powered crossover?!! 😆
the longer I watched the more I like it, good job sir, you do your homework
That really means a lot my friend!
mike barr i love it!
3 cylinder with a CVT? Lmaoooooooooooooo byeeeee
Also comes with an auto transmission in higher trim.
CVT transmission is garbage
and its a Ecotech engine, and on top of that turbos pushes in more of the recycled oil from blow by, yikes that engine will be gunked up with carbon build up at 50K, I guarantee you that!
It's basically a Mitsubishi Mirage with Chevy badging on it.
This wouldn’t be that bad when it’s 13k in 2 years from now at the auction
I wish they made this a competitor to the Jeep, GM doesn't have an answer for it
AGREED!
The Jeep Renegade is just like it.
What about the electric hummer?¯\_(ツ)_/¯
GM makes the best motors in the industry hands down, no one can come close to building powertrains like GM. NOONE!!!!!
@Jonathan Losito
Ford Bronco is going after Jeep
I just bought a new trailblazer 10 days ago. Since it doesn’t have any towing capability, I kept 2004 for that purpose. With plans to upgrade drive train for that purpose. New one is good enough for a daily driver. I have other types of vehicles for other duties.
I love this car. Just took mine driving across country in the winter blast. Did not slide one time in the mountains. And was able to drive faster then alot if other cars and trucks. All the gadgets practically drives itself on the open road. And fill up was never over $25. Your review sucks. I love my 2021 blazer
Chill biatch
it is worse
Look at all that space under the hood. Looks like enough room for a strong turbo four. I can hope. The 2.7L Turbo would be wonderful....
Trailblazer looks good , but lacks power to mach the sportiness of the RS!
should've had a v8, at least a v6. The MPGs aren't even that good for a 3cyl.
the V6 Blazer has tons of horsepower, would be a blast with this car
Really, a V8 in a car this small?
Sad to see gm is keep making stupid things and going down
I think at least L4 turbo is ok, not kei car like turbo triples.....
@@mrdaykurutakuchannel GM makes powerful 2.0 turbo. Like in the Malibu
I visited Florida for the first time in May 2020 and stayed at a hotel in Clearwater off 19. I wasn't paying attention to where this was located, but knew it immediately when you started doing the test drive LOL. I was like, I WAS THERE!
It’s not a huge deal, but I really wish this had turn signals on the mirrors
You definitely would think that it would have that considering it's not a base model, but that's GM for ya
Designers:” Wow, that’s sounds challenge to me.”
bought one last month.....love it
Joe, thanks for the video. I've been looking at buying this. I love the red exterior but I'd probably get the racer blue color, pano roof and the black wheels. The body cladding with the piano black trim looks better too.
I am so glad that I could share it with you Chris!
Reviewed all subcompact; ford, kia, mazda...the trailblazer performs better offroad than any and the kia would be nice but cvt is garbage
Raiti: Is this a BOOM ar a BUST?
Me: Between those options it is definetly a BUST.
You sound like a bust because if you knew what you were talking about you would be saying the opposite about the Trailblazer. You can put what you want into these Kick Ass machines. They are tough and worth every penny, so get a life and learn before you speak.
@@josephhartman6283 lol you must be a Chevy employee. The new trailblazer is garbage....Kia Seltos dominates it in every way.
Yup it is definitely a bust
@@josephhartman6283 usuck it is definetely a BUST

15:22, this was a missed opportunity to showcase the trailblazers dropping trunk floor, it has 3 stages of elevation. It appears in the middle here. I prefer the lowest.
17:41 on throttle - and.... ZzZzZzz Poor Joe sounds so bored 😂😂
I almost fell asleep! LOL
You actually sounded sad!! 😅
@@AbdullahHood Trust me I was! I am so disappointed of how they took the name of the Trailblazer and stuck on this. They need another SUV in their lineup like I need another whole in my head.
Raiti's Rides my heart is broken I don’t understand why they did this when they have a lot of crossover I don’t understand it
It’s just not good enough full stop. And then they go and call it a Trailblazer. It a whole car Z O N K !
I have a 2006 trailblazer, bought it new. Have had zero major issues with it. I love it. Still drive it every day and it's never let me down. Did have some electrical issues with interior lighting but it was a very minor problem. Might be time to upgrade...
Gm is just becoming so disappointing
Yes, and the materials they use....
PRNC LGN If GM is becoming disappointing, the Mid Engined Corvette is one of their few good cars
At least Cadillac is getting better.
True sadly...
Even there redesign 2021 looks the same as all the other years
I hate it...$26,000 and 2 options for 3-Cylinder engines that are dangerously slow even for the Trax, cloth seats, hard plastics/Rubberized material, and a CVT.
I would go Seltos in a heartbeat!
I had a rental of this for a 3 days. Im quite surprised how that 3cyl spooled up. Its decent, and manageable, lots of room rides like a boat, harsh ride , but its a decent ride. Im seriously considering buying if its around 20k
Thanks Brian for sharing your experience with the Trail Blazer!
I just bought one of these yesterday and I love it so far! I bought the Oasis blue one! Great review!
Is the LTZ trim an option? Also is a sunroof available?
Yes & Yes I will be bringing other trims.
I believe Chevy did away with the "LTZ" trim level on some of their vehicles. They are now calling it the "Premier."
Looks like an equinox with different emblems kind of like the Cadillac Escalade basically is a avalanche pick up just higher price and the engine lights still come on when warranties out
Yes more subcompact suvs please!
You got it!
You are so very welcome!
Hi Joe. I really appreciated the honesty in this video. You didn't pull any punches this time.
I think the car looks great, exterior and interior. Against a Kia Soul and a Jeep renegade this looks very competitive
Same situation in Columbus, OH. This suv he said in 2020 was $26,000usd. Now, it's $34,000. Total rip off for this.
I would love one of these in green. I actually love the whole design of this SUV.
It doesn't look TOO bad, but dear GOD that interior is horrible!!! Especially around the screen! One of the worse I've EVER seen. Just like a 1991 Chevy Cavalier. xD
I had the Blazer CRZ beefy 6 liter
I absolutely loved it!
1.8 liter engine?
No Side View Mirrors Heated + Defogger, WHY!!
1.3 litre lol

Nah I imagine some kind of solid state power source and full electric by then. Maybe wheels like in iRobot. Those Audis were cool. Lol

Awesome review! Keep up the good job!!!
Thanks for tuning in!
The truck floor can be lowered, can't it? And isn't the 1.3L a 9-speed transmission not a CVT?
Yes
When your phone dies throw that dead device in that pocket 😂 💀
one of the funniest reviews ever. Great video, would love to buy a car from this guy, seriously funny dude. Super detailed and love the humor that was incorporated.
The panic button for when you are about to crap yourself 😂
Thanks for letting me share some laughs with you!
Test drove a new 2021 LS model today.. sticker price $23k with the 138hp turbo engine......I was really shocked at how peppy it was and the CVT was X-Lent also. The engine was very smooth and quiet. {Don't knock it till you test drive one.}
“Wtf” had me dying lol. You are right why hard seats and soft arm rest 😂
Could you compare the old trailblazer vs the new trailblazer? Id love that. But could you get an ext model if you compare the two? The ext has 3 rows of seats. Thank you brother!

Happy Friday! Thanks for being here!
Chevy release a SUV we can all love and enjoy or redo this and the Blazer!
yeah
This SUV is epic!!! 😎
It looks alot like the Chevy Blazer
And they both look like a Camaro SUV 😂
Except it really a crossover so which means it's a van disguise as a suv. So it's not meant for real off roading and is not fast.

Oh!! I thought, "RS" stood for "Really Sucks" LOL!!!

They failed with this one 😂

One miss here...you can lower that rear trunk floor by a couple of inches and get the lip back. Or leave it where it is and insert a full size spare.
Zonk the dealer for installing pin stripping!
They probably charge 150$ for that premium pinstriping
I'm liking the fact that you're not trying to shill for Chevy- being bluntly honest is refreshing!
BTW, once I heard: 3 cylinder, CVT and Start/Stop(on a 3 cylinder no less), I immediately stopped being interested. This is nothing but a tarted up station wagon. "Simulated Shifts"?!?🤣😂
DEFINITELY not a "Trail Blazer"- unless your Trail is to a Mall or Grocery store.
Thanks for taking the time to say that!
@@RaitisRides No offense, but, the words Car Salesman is usually a punchline.... In your case, you are giving an honest assessment of a vehicle you happen to sell. Well done.
Regardless of style/design, I lose interest every single time at "CVT". I will never buy a car with a CVT!
Buy it in AWD and there’s no CVT
As a Owner of a 08 Trailblazer SS this new Trailblazer is a Bust for me. With Mopar Killing everything with the Hemi / SRT line, Chevy could have least tried to compete!!
I really like those wheels!
As a Chevy fan I think they dropped the ball with this one . Should be in the realm of a new Bronco and Jeep Wrangler. . A legit off road machine.
I totally agree with you!
I’m a Bronco guy Joe! Can’t wait for your review
