I'm glad people seem to agree this was the way to approach the video! I thought about persevering for a proper 100 days survived in one attempt, but figured the story would be better and truer with my failures and learning.

This is one of my favorite open world survival games ever, I’m so happy it’s getting the love it deserves despite not being as well known as Minecraft or Terraria
Can we take a moment to appreciate how much work went into this tho. Each day is 8 minutes. Thats 13 hour of game time + an hour voiceover + however long he spent editing. Thats some f*cking dedication for one video
58:08 A little trick I learned about DS and the Tree Guard is that if you plant some pinecones in front of it, it will eventually be appeased and it will go back to tree form and leave you alone! (I think five or so pinecones should do!) Love the content, have been binging your stuff for like a month now! Keep updating! ❤️
As a experienced player, it was quite unique to see you discover one of my favorite games! And as always the storytelling was a masterpiece Would love to see you continue the game ( And I think you sould give a try to Don't Starve Together you'll like it for sure!) Keep up the great work!
The charm of Don't Starve & Don't Starve Together are one of a kind. Very unique artsyle and a simple and fun survival game. I've put quite a fair bit of time into DST and loved every moment of it.
@@FloydsonYT Don't Starve Together is not just multiplayer, it also adds A LOT more content to the base game Don't Starve doesn't have, since it actually gets active updates. Which makes DST a much better experience even if you're playing alone. Worth noting that DS has DLCs like hamlet and shipwrecks DST doesn't have tho
I mean, Dont starve is complex as heck, maybe not in the sense of "realism", but there are many things you have to manage, and many bosses/events require you to do specific things and stuff
As a long time Don’t Starve and DST player (i started playing this on BETA phase), this video entertained me so much and reminded me of my noob days 😂 i can’t wait to watch your 200 days! I highly suggest you try Don’t Starve Together.
200 days please! As someone with thousands of hours between DS and DST, this brought me great joy, watching you figure things out. Took me back years ago, when I first started playing. Also, great way to break the typical 100 days format 👍
This video was a delight to watch, especially since it was not only solo don’t starve, which often gets pushed to the side in favor of don’t starve together, but it was also the base game with zero dlcs added, and I honestly do not remember the last time I have seen anyone do that. What was especially cool was how you showed multiple attempts, which just fits in perfectly with the games style of trial and error. Seeing 200 days would be fun, and I would also reccomend checking out the dlc’s and maybe even dst. Reign of Giants is basically just this version but with some added bosses and monsters and stuff, Shipwrecked adds a whole new world and boating mechanic, and hamlet adds another new world with capitalism and temple exploring. Don’t Starve Together is mostly multiplayer reign of giants with even more added stuff, but it’s noteworthy that it’s geared more towards multiplayer since the bosses have their hp scaled up to match with more people playing, and things like farming are very different than they are here. Personally I prefer solo don’t starve since I’m always playing alone anyways (and the Shipwrecked/hamlet content is nowhere to be found in dst), but together also gets frequent updates, often with new content so it’s still worth checking out I feel. Sorry for the rambling that I’m sure many people have already done before, I just really like these games and it’s fun to see people play for the first time. 10/10 video, the storytelling was amazing!
200k+ with only 32 videos, you're smashing it mate. The algorithm sent me your graveyard keeper 300 days and I'm working my way through the rest now. Your narration is ace, best tuber I've discovered in months, great content 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Just awesome to see that I'm not the only one who died the first night on a first play. XD It was very fun to watch you make so many new discoveries as you played, and reminded me of my first several playthroughs (winter killed me like a dozen times when I was first playing though, so this was impressive). Fun video!
Dont starve is a really interesting game once you get late into survival. The world is incredibly reactive and start to change as the year goes on. My vote is you definitely keep this series going, there is so much more to see!
Don't starve is a hecking challenging game, so huge props to you going in blind, there's a lot of unexplained/hidden mechanics so don't feel bad about googling stuff. Crock pot is your friend, try experimenting with different quantities of different ingredients and maybe whatever counts as edible. Check what stats (HP, Hunger, Sanity) go up or down when you eat food as well - you'll find mushrooms are very tricky when eaten raw or cooked :) Looking forward to 200 days!!
I recommend just using a torch for the night to explore more Fun fact: the only reason why I leave tips for people is because I survived 200+ days. It was painful
I'm a fairly avid don't starve fan and most don't starve gameplay videos i find tend to be by players who have played longer or as long as i have. it's really refreshing to see someone start from the ground up for a video! Huge fan of the channel btw, keep up the awesome work!
Figuring out all these by yourself is absolutely impressive tbh and I LOVE your 100 days playthroughs, your narratives are somehow on point! Can’t wait for more videos!
Your format and critical personality sets you apart from other youtubers. Props to you for finding this formula :) I hope you keep finding good games to play!
Some tips - use space to pick up/ interact instead of clicks cause it is easier and faster as holding space will pick up all the items without having to click on it and also chop trees. And F to attack enemies, ctrl+F to force attack enemies that are not trying to hurt you in the first place. It sounds like a small thing, but it makes a lot of difference in overall gameplay. And if the big tree is trying to attack you, you can plant a few pine cones in the ground to calm him down. He attacks if you cause deforestation, so every time you chop trees, make sure to plant them as well.
i've been super interested in playing this game but it's insanely confusing. watching 100 days type videos always helps me understand a game more, so im glad you played this one! im looking forward to 200 days!!!
y'know, i havent seen someone play the singleplayer version in a while. nice refresher. edit: this is painful to watch as someone who plays dst. i love it.
A couple of pointers to survive better next time: - create 2 torches for exploration at night so you don't go static at night, until you have a permanent base. - when deciding to have a permanent bases ( yes you could have more than one as the map is huge as f) try to be close to source of food like 3-5 rabbit holes and close to a herd of buffaloes as they can protect you from most harm unless they are on mating season (as noted by red bump on their bump 😁). - use a wormhole to travel from places to places, yes they cost you sanity but also cut of the time on traveling, that it is okay to lose sanity on it. - winter is the worst season of it all, as you could die in your sleep if not careful. Try to stock up as many useful things such as heating stones and ear muffs from rabbit.
I would say all of these tips are decent but could be better -Yes never be static at night (good tip) but a lantern is a better choice overall but if you dont have caves active torches can be good but a waste of resources especially on winter (night take too long) -Having several bases is BAD idea you should focus on one base that is close to wormholes that can travel around the map quickly and try not to base always near things like beefalos as they are not really useful for most thing and rabbits are negligable as food sources. Food is pretty plentiful almost everywhere. -Yes thats an awesome tip that most people dont usually listen to. -Winter is overall the most annoying season even if you prepare for it as the night lasts for 1/3 of the day, stocking on ear muffs and heating stones is a bad idea and a BIG waste of resources imo you should just need: 1 beefalo hat 1 thermal stone and 1 sewing kit, have all of that and you're golden. -Plus having a crock pot is necessary to survive in this game so make one.
Easily the best Don't Starve video on the internet. No over the top obnoxious narration, going in blind and having a fun attitude despite the game's difficulty, and constantly learning and moving forward. This is the way
Man thank you for all this long playthroughs you've been posting recently I really enjoy them a lot and appreciate all the effort that went to it cheers mate
Having put in well over a thousand hours in the game. A few recommendations. This is a game of learning through failure and experimentation. Secondly, if you want to actually 'beat' the game. You need to go through the Maxwell door and beat all five worlds. It's more or less story mode of Don't Starve. Thirdly, Get reign of giants at some point. It expands the base game while Hamlet and shipwrecked add completely revamped worlds. Secondly, RoG, reign of giants does add some more difficulty so perhaps wait until you've learned more.
I hope it's not too late to voice 200 days would be amazing! 🥺 As someone who has waaaay too many hours in the solo vanilla version and DST, this was wonderful to see your blind experience. It's one of those games that I cherish and (almost) wish I could forget to experience again❤
Bro had a *godly* spawn for the second run (Well, an adventagious spawn. The beefalo, the respawn stone, and the nearby gold. Its basically the equivalent of spawning next to a village in minecraft)
i seriously can't believe that this video is an hour long! it was entertaining all throughout and your comments and narration made it even cooler! i play this game and i always adjust the world and characters and stuff 😭 and i completely agree! this game scares me too lol
I know he probably knows this now, but I still want to say it. So the main reason he kept struggling was because he was wasting up to half of his productive time staying at the base durring nightfall.
to me the most adorable part, was that at the very end you were ready to "explore the rest of the map" .. hehe. I reluctantly use the first 7-9 days it usually takes and immediately walk the edge of the map to make sure i know the size, shape and general location of everything before i start. No poking fun, i get that you're new. Its just funny to hear exploring the map to be an adventure youre all prepared for.
as a person who has been playing for 5 years, its really funny to see people trying to figure out what everything is and i love it. this was really funny ! :)
I'm begging you for 200 days this was incredible!! Also please try the dlc! Reign of giants expands very heavily on the vanilla mechanics while the other two give wholly new experiences!!
I wish I could like this video twice, please continue the series! I would love to see you play Don't Starve Together as well since there is so much more content in that version!
1. At least build some tent, so you don't have to worry about sanity and health 2. Instead of cooking pig meat, you can create powerful weapon from it 3. Jerky is the best food 4. Can't find manure to fertilize your plant? You can use rotten food or flower (rot) 5. How to kill tree monster? 4 hits and step back, repeat! 6. Yes you can shave the beefalo, but only during the night 7. Breed the beefalo! food stock 8. Gives the beefalo 10 grasses or 10 twigs everyday and don't forget to brush them. See miracle happens in 20 days 9. To afraid to deal with hounds? tooth trap! 10. Winter is coming, prepare for the surprise To be honest i enjoy this 100 days. Please continue the journey.
It’s good to see more people playing this amazing game! If you want a bigger challenge I recommend playing reign of giants and all the other DLC’s. Also id love 200 days
Watching this brought back so many good memories of when I played don’t starve for the first time almost 10 years ago and how much fun I had discovering everything! Loved this video
I didn't know at first but the reason I love the concept is, I was always into complete playthroughs of strategy and action adventure. This channel has accomplished something unique a fast paced summary of a genre in farming like simulation and survival.
Not going to lie, people take longer to properly fight monsters (as in, hit 1-5 times, depending on the enemy, and move away), you got it with spiders at day 12. Nice!
I like all of your 100, 200 and 300 days videos in general. But this one I enjoyed so much that I found myself rewinding constantly - just because I did not wanted it to end. Edit: I just found out that you made a 200 days video of Don’t Starve - so my day is officially saved. Thank you for creating all these marvelous videos, btw!
I don't know what it is, but your content scratches my brain in that perfect way! I've binged literally all of your videos on repeat since I discovered your channel through Graveyard Keeper (bought it after and didn't regret it, great game!). I don't comment a lot but wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the videos! Powering me through work, daily responsibilities, car rides, etc. - Can't wait to see 200 Days of Don't Starve - or x00 Days of "Whatever Game Floydson Wants to Play" because they are great. Also side note, your co-op series with your wife was a lot of fun. If she enjoys making content with you, it would be cool to see another couch co-op series game. My wife and I play a ton of base builders together so it's fun to watch you two enjoying games together as well! Anyway - love the content man, thank you for all you do, can't wait to see the next one!
When Floydson posts, it's a good day. Noticed a lot of other channels doing this 100 days thing on other games, but none beats Floydson's videos. Please continue these and thank you. 🙏😊
I'm a sucker for these 100 days playthroughs. I binged your 300 day gravekeeper and 100 days sun haven videos. I work from home, so it's always fun to throw these on in the background. Keep them coming!
i love the style of not actually being an generic 100 day video! and the way it gets less painful to watch for a person like me who always researches how to play a game before actually buying/playing the game myself!
Idk if you'll be interested, but I love watching playthroughs of One Hour Life. Its an online multiplayer survival game, where one minute in real life equals one year in the game. You are born to another player, and you'll have a max 60 minutes/year to craft and build stuff for the next generation to continue. Or you can play it however you want.
This game had such a learning curve. You slowly become more and more proud that you lived 5 days longer than your last attempt. I very recently finally finished the story of this game. Such a great game to experience
I am sooo happy that you played and mayed a video of Dont Starve, i love this game. Keep up the amazing work, would love to see 200 Days of this if possible
You can get living logs from totally normal trees as well. Top hat is also something you need to make immediately. Most people spend the first 2-3 days uncovering all of the map you can to find each biome. Gathering carrots seeds and butterflies to eat, stuff to make a fire, tools, and thats it unless you find something important like a things or Chester. That allows you to build best base location, usually near a "butthole with teeth/ beeffalo." It also allows you to immediately gather a few gold and what you need to build the two main crafters and a hatpridigitator to make a tophat to start strong on sanity control. 👍
Playing DST with an experienced and supportive team will allow you to see much more that the game has to offer. There are certain farms that can be made that really allow for mass resource gathering. My favourite is the monkey farm which can be combined with a few others to make a easier place to live. A combo monkey/spider/pigman/bunnyman farm will allow a base that can create a vast amunt f food. Bees can also be harvested underground away from shafts of light.
Damn, really enjoyed your experiences with this game. This commentary brought me back to when I played this. I actually had such a good time with this game. I think too it's because I was really into Minecraft at the time I played Don't Starve. I think I ended experiencing everything the game had to offer though. I think I put like 30 hours into the game.
5:30 Fun fact! It did, in fact, used to break items down into the components (or atleast something like that) back when the game launched in 2011, however that function was very quickly replaced with the current mechanic of it letting you craft higher tier items because the old system was not fun. I suppose the textline is just a remnant of that era
You did really good. When I played years ago it was really hard to survive winter, the giant cyclops would enter our base at winter and destroy everything. So the entire fall time was spent preparing for winter (I would get a lot of logs for the fire), and also preparing to fight the giant beast. I only got to summer once, and boy was it hot. A tip for the tree monster. You can plant pine cones around it to calm it down.
You can use sticks in your recipes to stretch out you food. Gather sticks then dig them up.. store sticks for winter. You also need to start preparing for winter as soon as you start. And when it comes go get ice immediately, to make a fridge.
As a veteren Don't Starve player, I feel your pain. This is probably the worst game to do a 100-days series as a new player because you really just have to keep dying and retrying until you 'get good'. This was so fun to watch though, well done on surviving for so long! I laughed so hard at you dying to the penguins twice, did not expect those to be your downfall XD
some beginner-ish tips!! 1. befriending pigs and being around them can maker ur sanity higher! u can befriend them by giving them meat. 2. picking flowers can also make ur sanity higher 3. being around the pig base and or pig king and putting ur base there is recommended because the pigs can attack the hounds, you can also trade with the pig for gold. 4. you know those black hand thing that steals ur fire? step on it and it will go away for a while. you can keep stepping on it till its daytime. :D
I absolutely need more of this. There's so much to see and do in don't starve especially if you have access to shipwrecked and or hamlet. Please continue with this game it's super entertaining
Picking up a fresh food averages the stack's spoilage. So you can keep them on you and keep them good if you make 2-3 to add to the stack each day. Stacking jerky is better for winter, if you got nothing else. You need to make like 5 racks. Also if you build pig houses in a fenced area you can farm them for meat and skin. As well as giving them monster meat to double their drops. They also wolf out on full moons and drop double as well as beard hair, which can be used to make a respawn effigy. Stacking tons of live rabbits is also an option if you have nothing else. You can use the razor to level down the spider nests. You dont want to destroy them cause they will produce silk.

(I think five or so pinecones should do!)
Love the content, have been binging your stuff for like a month now! Keep updating! ❤️
I love the tree guards so much, they’re adorable + easy to kill and get (I think it’s called) living tree logs
I always just plant pinecones randomly because Tree Guard scared the first time and I felt so bad for killing it 😂
Do note that chopping down a tree near a pacified tree guard will re-aggro them. Just a heads up
As a experienced player, it was quite unique to see you discover one of my favorite games!
And as always the storytelling was a masterpiece
Would love to see you continue the game ( And I think you sould give a try to Don't Starve Together you'll like it for sure!)
Keep up the great work!
I agree and Don’t starve in my opinion has the best player base of any hidden gem game too
@@volk_0154 interesting to hear - I hope the community stumbles upon my video and enjoys it!
@@FloydsonYT Do Don't Starve Reign of Giants next
I regret learning the game by watching RUclips. It looks so fun discovering everything by yourself!
The charm of Don't Starve & Don't Starve Together are one of a kind. Very unique artsyle and a simple and fun survival game.
I've put quite a fair bit of time into DST and loved every moment of it.
It's a fantastic game for sure, but I don't about "simple" xD
A profoundly charming game, for sure. Definitely won me over.
@@bench3248 I dont know about hamlet, but may i introduce you to Island Adventures, pretty much a perfectly integrated shipwreck for DST
This is the first time I've known more about a game than Floyd and it's both satisfying and infuriating... I can't wait for more
You're welcome and I'm sorry
I'm a little late to the party, but this feels nostalgic. It's as if I'm watching myself discover this game for the first time. What an odd feeling.
As a long time Don’t Starve and DST player (i started playing this on BETA phase), this video entertained me so much and reminded me of my noob days 😂 i can’t wait to watch your 200 days! I highly suggest you try Don’t Starve Together.
So stoked that you’re playing don’t starve. The intro is a perfect way to let you know what the game is like.
Beefalo need to be asleep to shave and if you feed them grass you can herd them
@@steelarm7 Can't herd them in the base game or RoG just in DST
200 days please!
As someone with thousands of hours between DS and DST, this brought me great joy, watching you figure things out. Took me back years ago, when I first started playing.
Also, great way to break the typical 100 days format 👍
Dark Souls and Dark Souls Two
Dark Souls and Dark Souls Two
This video was a delight to watch, especially since it was not only solo don’t starve, which often gets pushed to the side in favor of don’t starve together, but it was also the base game with zero dlcs added, and I honestly do not remember the last time I have seen anyone do that.
Fun video!
the sheer resilience of this guy is amazing to even persevere through this game each time
Dont starve is a really interesting game once you get late into survival.
Check what stats (HP, Hunger, Sanity) go up or down when you eat food as well - you'll find mushrooms are very tricky when eaten raw or cooked :)
Looking forward to 200 days!!
I recommend just using a torch for the night to explore more
Fun fact: the only reason why I leave tips for people is because I survived 200+ days.
I absolutely adore this game. Frustrating as all HECK sometimes (er, frequently), but also hilarious. The art style is magnificent.
The dont starve series has been my favorite games of all time. Been playing since the beginning. Im glad to see you give it a go. Very entertaining.
y'know, i havent seen someone play the singleplayer version in a while. nice refresher.
edit: this is painful to watch as someone who plays dst. i love it.
A couple of pointers to survive better next time:
- create 2 torches for exploration at night so you don't go static at night, until you have a permanent base.
I would say all of these tips are decent but could be better
-Yes never be static at night (good tip) but a lantern is a better choice overall but if you dont have caves active torches can be good but a waste of resources especially on winter (night take too long)
-Having several bases is BAD idea you should focus on one base that is close to wormholes that can travel around the map quickly and try not to base always near things like beefalos as they are not really useful for most thing and rabbits are negligable as food sources.
@@diogostw7286 thank you for these tips I will be using them in my own playthroughs, you are clearly a fairly seasoned player !
You're very welcome, I'm so glad you enjoy the videos!
That's a yes please for 200 days of this. Very entertaining stuff :)
Having put in well over a thousand hours in the game. A few recommendations. This is a game of learning through failure and experimentation. Secondly, if you want to actually 'beat' the game. You need to go through the Maxwell door and beat all five worlds. It's more or less story mode of Don't Starve. Thirdly,
Get reign of giants at some point. It expands the base game while Hamlet and shipwrecked add completely revamped worlds. Secondly, RoG, reign of giants does add some more difficulty so perhaps wait until you've learned more.
I clicked at the speed of light when i saw my favourite survival horror being played by an absolutely amazing aussie lad
I hope it's not too late to voice 200 days would be amazing! 🥺 As someone who has waaaay too many hours in the solo vanilla version and DST, this was wonderful to see your blind experience. It's one of those games that I cherish and (almost) wish I could forget to experience again❤
Bro had a *godly* spawn for the second run
(Well, an adventagious spawn. The beefalo, the respawn stone, and the nearby gold. Its basically the equivalent of spawning next to a village in minecraft)
Hearing you so pleased about cooking food made me so stoked for when you finally found out about the crockpot
i seriously can't believe that this video is an hour long! it was entertaining all throughout and your comments and narration made it even cooler! i play this game and i always adjust the world and characters and stuff 😭 and i completely agree! this game scares me too lol
Since youuu played Don't Starve, I highly recommend Klei's other game Oxygen Not Included!
And yes please 200 days of Don't Starve!
I would die from happiness if Floydson did a 100 cycles of ONI. That game has eaten more hours of my life than any other game.
"I was clueless and terrified"
Even with more game experience, some things never change.
1. At least build some tent, so you don't have to worry about sanity and health
2. Instead of cooking pig meat, you can create powerful weapon from it
3. Jerky is the best food
4. Can't find manure to fertilize your plant? You can use rotten food or flower (rot)
5. How to kill tree monster? 4 hits and step back, repeat!
6. Yes you can shave the beefalo, but only during the night
7. Breed the beefalo! food stock
8. Gives the beefalo 10 grasses or 10 twigs everyday and don't forget to brush them. See miracle happens in 20 days
9. To afraid to deal with hounds? tooth trap!
10. Winter is coming, prepare for the surprise
To be honest i enjoy this 100 days. Please continue the journey.
Amazing tips thank you!!!
@@FloydsonYT aah I forgot something, is there any chance you play Project Zomboid too?
It’s good to see more people playing this amazing game! If you want a bigger challenge I recommend playing reign of giants and all the other DLC’s. Also id love 200 days
Watching this brought back so many good memories of when I played don’t starve for the first time almost 10 years ago and how much fun I had discovering everything! Loved this video
Naughtiness is a weird way to describe cold blooded murder.
I didn't know at first but the reason I love the concept is, I was always into complete playthroughs of strategy and action adventure. This channel has accomplished something unique a fast paced summary of a genre in farming like simulation and survival.
awesome to hear!
Not going to lie, people take longer to properly fight monsters (as in, hit 1-5 times, depending on the enemy, and move away), you got it with spiders at day 12. Nice!
Yet another amazing play through video... Honestly I could watch them for hours... Please more Don't Starve man!
Keep up the awesome work!
Thank you!
Loved this! Can't wait for 200 days
Terraria: look for materials underground to make weapons
Don’t starve: *find poop*
"I assumption was that everything is going to kill me."
A good assumption to have in this game.
Love this series! Thanks for the great content :)
"I released and killed a rabbit, which took a big chunk of my sanity apparently" LMAO, I wonder why haha @ 54:00
It was fun watching someone new to the game dive in. It's one of my favorite games ever and now I'm all about firing it up again.
he did better in the first 10 days of never playing this game before than I have done in my 200 hours playing
Wow! I can't believe you're playing this game! I love it and it's so underrated. I'm glad a big youtuber like you is playing this game.
It is a gem! Such a clever and charming concept for a survival game
I would watch these non stop, amazing episodes man. Hoping you will play Don't Starve again
The nostalgia of being fist time playing the game. This is kinda wholesome lol
I'm a sucker for these 100 days playthroughs. I binged your 300 day gravekeeper and 100 days sun haven videos. I work from home, so it's always fun to throw these on in the background. Keep them coming!
Love this series, please continue with 200 days and more
I love watching this channel. You play all the games that I probably would never actually play myself. Great stuff!
It's always a good day when there's a new Floydson video drop!
Having played and failed at Don't Starve, getting to day 25+ on your second go around is impressive!
i love the style of not actually being an generic 100 day video!
and
the way it gets less painful to watch for a person like me who always researches how to play a game before actually buying/playing the game myself!
the inevitability of your penguin-filled death amused me
Idk if you'll be interested, but I love watching playthroughs of One Hour Life.
Dude let him figure it out on his own
Playing DST with an experienced and supportive team will allow you to see much more that the game has to offer.
I played this a lot back when the PS4 first launched. I played with my brother and my friend. Longest I went was 43 days.
'Its a bush turkey'
My favourite quote
i really enjoyed that you used a retrospective narration but also included some of the raw mental processing
2. picking flowers can also make ur sanity higher
3. being around the pig base and or pig king and putting ur base there is recommended because the pigs can attack the hounds, you can also trade with the pig for gold.
4. you know those black hand thing that steals ur fire? step on it and it will go away for a while. you can keep stepping on it till its daytime.
